This book is adorable! Seriously adorable. The photos are fantastic and there are famous cat musings by Mark Twain and others throughout the book. The best thing I got from the book is learning that I can indeed cook for my cat and me at the same time. Years ago I researched cat nutrition and knew that cats indeed need real food, mostly meat and that we are killing our pets, both cats and dogs, feeding them that dried stuff. My present fur baby, a rescue, has pancreatitis so I have to be especially careful with her diet. If she has a lot of oil, she looses her food. I feed her a high quality low fat canned food (not from the vet, that brand does not work IMO) but wanted to also feed her fresher meat. A raw diet is best but at her age, her system rebelled at that.

So after reading this book, I baked some fish and cut off a piece fot kitty. I barely oiled hers to keep it from drying out and placed it at the end of the dish. I then proceeded to season mine. Once baked and cooled, I offered up her new food. My goodness you would have thought I gave her all the meat in the world, so happy was she! I enjoyed the fish so much I cooked it three days in a row, only seasoning mine differently each night. She enjoyed her meal as much as I did.

I intend to try some of the recipes in the book (I'm an experienced cook so I can tell the recipes will work) but for now am wondering why I didn't think of this idea myself! After all, if I'm cooking why not set aside a portion prepared kitty safe along with my own. The book also lists foods dangerous to kitty so that any seasonings listed as okay can be used when cooking for cats. I like COOKING FOR TWO--YOUR CAT & YOU so much it now resides on the shelf with my cookbooks. I treasure books and this one is a gem!

I haven't tried the recipes yet, but they look simple and delicious. The book is super cute with many fun cat facts and quotes about cats. I love that they have ideas of how to alter the cat's recipe if they don't like it at first.

Gave this book to my girlfriend who loved it. I forgot to give her messurments as well but she will figure it out any way. Her cat often steels from her plate so now my girlfriend can be sure that it is healthy for the cat as well.
