Lose most games, it hurts your feelings. Lose THIS game, it REALLY hurts. Here's how Lightning Reaction works -- Anywhere from two to four people can play at once. You remove a handle from the base and get ready. When you press the button in the center, a red light pulses and suspenseful music plays. As soon as the red light turns green, you press the red trigger button as quickly as possible. If you're the slowest player, you will get rewarded with a painful electric shock. If you were faster than your opponents, you can simply laugh as the loser screams in pain. It sounds simple, but the suspense of waiting for the light to change is excruciating. You'll be tempted to press the trigger early... but don't! If you press it before the light changes, you get an electric shock and lose the game. This version let's you pick your level of shock, so even those extremely shock averse can have fun too!

What started out as a gag game, has turned into how I dictate which of my 3 kids will do chores. If I lose, I take the garbage out and do the dishes myself. Chores just got a little more fun around this camp.

size of toy and quality very misleading

I hesitate to ever write a poor review, but the cost of this toy and the size and quality warrant it. When I received this product and unpacked it, I was shocked that it was so small.....the size of my hand from palm to tip of fingers...and the width of my hand....in the picture I thought it was very much larger....in addition, the individual handles had a seam down the middle and the seam was separated displaying the wires inside.......The handles were made of plastic and would never hold up to teens or kids playing the game....This was the biggest disappointment. I would advise the manufacturer to post the size of this toy and redo the quality.

Got this for my boys ages 10 & 12, they love it. They're dad loves it. I hate it. It doesn't really hurt that much it's just nerve wracking to play and they want to play ALL the time! It has four handles to hold and they INSIST it won't work with three people but I'm sure that's just a lie so they can laugh at me shocking myself lol!

Bought this for my nephew, 11, and cousin, 17, for Christmas. It was a big hit at the Christmas party last night involving my nephew! I think said nephew is a little young for this- he was scared to try it after watching his 15 year old sister yelp after getting shocked by the game. But it was definitely entertaining for all of us to watch this game being played. We were just about rolling on the floor laughing watching the grown men's reactions to the impending shock! I'm glad I ordered two of these and I'll consider buying more if another occasion arises. You can pick the number of players, from 1-4. Each player holds a 'joystick' while the machine plays suspenseful music and the light flashes red. Once the light turns green, the last player to press their button gets shocked! Just a couple of quick FYI's: One player found out the hard way that if you push the button early to avoid being last, it shocks you immediately! Also, a listing I saw here on Amazon mentioned a medium setting. However, I only saw regular and intense settings.

Oh my -- got some laughs out of this one!!!! That alone made it well worth the price paid. Everyone saw the 3 tiny triple-A batteries going in and said "Awwww, that's nothing." Bwaaaahahaha It will get your attention and ages 11yrs to 70yrs in our house got a huge kick out of it. I think it will get pulled out of the game closet several times throughout the year, so I call it a good purchase. Seems to be well made and hopefully will hold up for more fun!!

Well, bought the game . Upon opening it and turning it on, all lights and sounds worked. First time to play, device never shocked anything. Never even anything. Switched game modes, still nothing. Switched new batteries , still nothing worked. Sadly . Looked forward to playing this on thanksgiving with family.

I bought this game for my sons 13th birthday and we played it at his party. It was a huge hit. So much so that he will play by himself if no one else wants to go again lol. He is 13 and getting shocked is cool lol.

Ordered this as a Prime lightening deal for a white elephant gift exchange. I thought the party environment would make this a fun gift, but when it was opened and batteries installed we got - NOTHING! It never even started. Amazon is great. Opened the app and a few taps later a replacement was on the way. We got the replacement two days after Christmas. Installed fresh batteries and turned it on. Two of the green lights flashed on for about a second, but then - NOTHING! It was dead. So, I guess the joke is on us. We were tricked into trying this product twice. The moral of the story is when you are buying total junk products, buy from Amazon. They make the return process very easy. I'm off to the UPS store to ship them back to Amazon.

Feel the zap!

Fun game! Lots of laughing because once you feel the zap you don't want to feel it again so you anxiously await each turn hoping you aren't the last person to hit the button. There are different levels of intensity of the shock and it can definitely be felt! It's not a game you'd spend any length of time playing. However, it's a fun game and great to play to just wanting a quick game to play.
