Most burglars spend less than six minutes inside a victim's home and only have time to check the most obvious places for valuables. With this product you can hide your valuables in what looks like an ordinary book- the last place a thief would think to look. This is an actual book with a space in the center cut out and comes in assorted titles. The outside dimensions of the book are 9 1/2 x 6 3/8 x 1 3/4 inches. The dimensions of the space inside are 6 3/4 x 4 x 1 1/4 inches.

Excellent quality book safe that is an actual book. First you get 2 book safes with 2 different titles. The 2 books are about the same size and are made from actual hardcover books. The first book has 98 pages before you get to the actual hidden compartment and the second has 24 pages before. The inner compartment is cut out into the pages of an actual book. The inner compartment velvet covered cover is a little flimsy but I don't take any stars away from this because I feel the actual quality is excellent. The inner compartment is large enough to fit a couple smart phones. The book itself feel light in the hand compared to an actual solid book of the same size but again, this is to be expected. Overall very happy with this purchase, excellent quality book safes.

Awesome for travel!

These are great. I brought one on a trip. We stored our extra cash inside and had no problems and it absolutely looked like a regular book in a little stack of books. Showed it to my sister and she even picked it up and wanted to read the book and didn't realize what it was. I had considered a travel safe, but felt like this diversion style actually provides more security, even without a lock, as it doesn't call attention to itself as a safe. So many reviews for travel safes mention poor locks, so why bother with something that looks like a safe that provides little real protection? Better to get something that doesn't look like a safe at all. Fact that you get two is a very nice deal. If you don't like the cover, easy enough to switch it by getting another book at a second hand store.

Good diversion safes.

These book safes were better than I expected. It would be impossible to pick them out of a bookshelf, and you could always change the book jacket for something else if the kind of literature that you get (random choice?) doesn't match the other books on your shelf. My pair were two recent actual female fiction works. I was able to put about 60 silver dollars in one, and the other will hold about 75 US bills, that's $1500 in twenties or whatever you have. I like that the first quarter inch or so of the book's pages are original before you come to the plastic cavity insert, which is nicely lined with a felt material. The cover is somewhat difficult to remove. I suppose this cavity would be good for using directly with jewelry or other valuables. Now my only fear is that something will happen to me and my kids will take all my books to Goodwill. Boy, then somebody would get a real prize!

Exactly what I was looking for

This is a great product. An actual real book was hollowed out to make room for private items. It even has the dust cover to add to the authenticity. I have seen similar items that aren't real books, don't have a real name and don't have a dust cover. They look too suspicious to me as being a phony book. Another thing is this product does not have and doesn't need a locking mechanism. If a crook finds the book with a lock, he will just steal the whole book and break it open when he gets home. Either way you lose the contents. It's better to have a more realistic book with no no lock than a phony looking book with a lock. I am very happy with my purchase.

This is a real book. Bad guys probably won't stop to look up a peculiar word while they're ripping you off. Well, maybe an extremely intellectual one with a good memory for questions and poor focus on the task at hand... My only complaint is that it is slightly larger than the other books on the shelf, making it stand out a bit. Since it doesn't lock, this is a potential problem.

Overall, I'm happy with it, and only wish I had the assets to need more than one.

Convenient For Small Items Easy For YOU To Find

The small or slender items (Ipod, credit cards, cash, IDs, etc.) that you can fit in the vault are all stuff that could be easily hidden without much problem. The difficulty is in remembering where you hid it this time. A rolled up sock? Behind a picture? In an old jacket?

The book vault makes a convenient quick place to hide stuff in plain sight and easily retrieve without concern you'll forget your clever disappearing valuables trick. Or that someone will accidentally throw it away, use it,or seek it out. I use my books to hold some cash,checkbooks,MP3 players,flash drives.

The only "problem" is that the book might be appealing to a reader. My two books were older titles, but one "Who Killed Bobby?" might intrigue a friend to pick it up. Fortunately, I had a book jacket with a soporific-sounding "Geology in Old England" title.

Great Product! Great idea for college kids.

I've now had this for four years, 9 moves, and 6 roommates (I bought this before college). I 100% recommend this for a college student (or anyone!). Through all of that, not one roommate has realized that's where I kept cash, my passport, and my SSN. I've always been able to transport it safely and in plain sight so I know I didn't lose it when I've moved. I've been able to access my things quickly when I need to, unlike other students who had to call home to get their SSN mailed or something when they get a new job. My roommates have borrowed books many times, but no one wants to read this one, and everyone just assumes I had to get it for a class. Doesn't look suspicious or anything else, unlike other bags or containers where people are "hiding" their things, which looks obvious when you are moving etc.

It is a little shallow, so you can't fit a ton. My only complaint is that I had to take my passport out of my passport case, because the case wouldn't fit in.

Pretty good. The book is definitely not identifiable as a book safe. It looks exactly like any other book on the shelf. The only thing that keeps it from rating 5 stars is that the internal compartment could be a bit more sturdy as the lid and sides are kind of thin. That said, this in no way affects the usefulness of the product.

I've had this for a while now and I must say it has been great having this to store valuables. I keep it with my other real books and people don't even bother touching it as not too many people these days read books. Highly recommend this producct.

Book Safe

Having known a few bad guys in my life, I put a lot of thought in an incognito hiding place for my money, etc. I've had canned food, soft drinks, beer and other stuff stolen by "friends". Never have I had a book or a personal hygiene item stolen or even moved. This boring book will be the perfect hiding place right in the open for all to see. The lined compartment with lid is large enough to hold quite a bit. The only problem is that it is lighter than a real book of comparable size. That shouldn't really matter because it will probably never be picked up.
