From an adult perspective
by Freddy Flume (4 out of 5 stars)

I'm going to switch things up here and speak on this toy from a purely adult perspective. I'm 28, I have my own house and pool. I don't have kids. I bought this item for myself.

Often times through the summer I'll have parties or at the very least a few people over at all hours of the day. The pool is constantly utilized, but I wanted a game that people could play when they were in there and I settled on this one. I thought it would be funny to watch any inebriated folks try to stay on an inflated log and smack people around with the batons. It would end up being more entertaining from a 3rd party perspective than as a participant as I will explain in a moment.

When the product arrived I was worried because it's plastered with pictures of little kids. My immediate fear was that it wouldn't support a grown adult frame. I'm 6'2" 210 pounds after all; I'm a far cry from the 40 pound whelp on the cover.

These worries might have directly affected the next little caveat because in my fear that the floats wouldn't support my weight, I might have over-inflated them a tad. And by "a tad" I mean a metric crap-ton.

So we get the bulging floats out into the pool for the first time and everyone is ready to go. I toss them out there, jump in the water and try to mount the log immediately. This is where things got crazy. First, it's REALLY hard to stay on these things, inebriated or not. It's a sub-game in and of itself. It got to the point where I would use my world famous turtle ploy and just focus on covering my face and hunkering down while my opponent wailed on me. It was a formidable defense because in their fury to batter me in what they thought was a moment of weakness, they would over extend and constantly fall off (that's a pro tip to all you would-be log combatants out there). The only problem is if both people go turtle style and you end up sitting on a log staring at each other, but I digress.

The second problem, and really I should have made this the first problem because it's a big one, is it absolutely destroys your balls. Like no joke. The kids aren't alright. I see now why there are children all over the box. Not because it won't support adult weight but because it's really uncomfortable for anyone who's testicles have descended. These logs tried to make my outie into an innie. It's hard to stay on enough as it is, balance wise, but this adds a whole new dimension as it also becomes a groin trauma endurance game.

I collapsed the floats a little, thinking the overinflating was the problem, and it helped a bit, but for the most part it was just something you had to live with. I used these the first time with 3 guys and 2 girls all attempting it. The guys all struggled, but the girls had no problem at all. In the end we made it work and had a good time though. And I've used them multiple times since then.

But it's just ... ya know. Something to think about.

Great Fun!

I will NEVER be able to write a review as funny as some on this product, I wont even try!

I will tell you that this product survived a pool party with a boys ice hockey team, ages 12-14. They had a blast with this set. The hardest part for them was just figuring out how to balance themselves on the log. After that, checking in a hockey game had nothing on the beatings they gave each other, all in fun of course. No injuries, no penalties. My Husband even said, that thing wont last an hour, but it did. It lasted all day and it is still going strong. My 12 yr old convinced me to play against him. To my surprise, we had a blast. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. My boys also race each other on the logs the length of the pool and back, and have contests on who can just stay on the log the longest, minus the hitting w/the beaters.

Joust Not!

Looks great in the adds, once inflated and my kids, aged 9 through adult, attempted to use it, they instantly rolled over. Every attempt to mount these logs resulted in the same frustrating roll-over. The log portion is completely round, combine with the slickness of the vinyl when wet, and the ability to stay seated becomes impossible. Attempted to release some air from the logs but due to the poor engineering, all one does is continue to roll over. attempted to mount the log a-la bareback bronc style using the side of the pool, even then, any movement created the rolling effect. The jousting poles have no rigidity so they flop and cannot be swung or used with any effect. Until the manufacturer redesigns this product I firmly would not recommend purchasing it.

Fun for any age
by My Opinion (5 out of 5 stars)

We got this for my son's 16th bday party. It is great quality for a inflatable pool toy. The kids were all the height/weight of adults, so getting on and staying on the logs was tough. However that just allowed the logs to be used as weapons of torture as they all used other rafts to float on while beating the living daylights out of each other. Teens are resourceful!!! It was a full day of fun!!!

This is a must have for any family with a pool & had anyone ever brought this to my house, it would have been very well received.

15 minutes of fame
by AZmom (1 out of 5 stars)

I bought this hoping for the best, but not expecting much, so I wasn't too disappointed. I bought these for an end of summer pool party for my son and his friends (6 boys, ages 10-11). They were not too expensive so if they didn't last, I wasn't out of pocket too much. Unfotunately, they didn't last 15 minutes. The boys enjoyed pummeling each other with them even as they sadly deflated.

It's as fun as it looks !

I bought this at the beginning of the summer. I have 3 big and rough boys. Didn't think it would last more than a couple weeks. 2 months in, So far so good as they seem to be holding. Logs are hard to stay on, they teach the kids lots about balance. I'm a 40yr old man 240lbs, and I've used them to battle my friends. It's as fun as it looks ! They are so cheap I'm bought 2 thinking only one set came in a box. Now I have four sets, and I'm glad I do. The kids friends like using them too!

Such a fun pool toy. Fun for all ages.

We love it. They are super hard to stay balanced and afloat but that is the most fun. It took a couple days just to be able to stay on them and then when you try to joust each other, to knock them off, it's funnier because you lose balance and fall off without touching the other jouster. We used them in a super huge resort pool in Palm springs. The only problem we had was the lifegaurd ended up making us take them out of pool because he thought we were rough housing too much. We weren't , but I think It was because we were laughing so much and people were all watching us. If he would have paid attention and watched he would have seen that we were rarely able to joust each other and we made our selves fall off more than the other person. We still use them in our pool and it's still a challenge to stay afloat. Hint ,letting out a little air makes it easier to balance.

They look fun, and falling off is always a great pic

They come two full sets in one box, so know that going forward. You really only need one box. Just about impossible to actually use though. Adults, with or without booze, and our kids too, could never figure these damn things out balance wise. They look fun, and falling off is always a great pic, but you get about 20 min of fun then you go right back to beers.

Made well, will hold adults too.

Some how missed that there were two of these to a box so accidentally bought 2 extra. They are hard to balance on, but once you figure that out they work as expected, the mallet part does not keep air for long periods of time. When you hit each other with them they seem to loose air quick. I would not buy for really young kids, at least 11 years and up, mallets have plastic hard handles on them can hurt if you get hit with them.

I have no idea how there are some good reviews for this

This product is COMPLETELY unusable! Don't buy! None of my kids or myself could balance on the logs, it is literally impossible. I have no idea how there are some good reviews for this ... this product was very poorly devised. How can you even attempt to joust when you can't balance on it for more than half a second? Terrible.
