Product Description

Scientific Explorer Disgusting Science is the grossest, most revolting kit available that will educate your child with nasty experiments on what actually grows on their own body, what's really in their teeth and the explanations behind our unmentionable, smelly bodily functions. Disgusting Science investigates your child's everyday questions like "What makes you pass gas?", "Do creatures really live on me?", "Why do your feet really stink?" and more. Your young scientist will be fascinated to learn fun facts about these body parts, by-products and will be grossed out as they take science to a whole new level by creating a stinky intestine, slimy snot, fake blood and learn how to grow friendly molds and bacteria. Recommended for children 8 years of age and older with adult supervision.

Fun title, but not much there
by Patricia (1 out of 5 stars)

Not a fan. There is actually very little in the box itself, like a few q-tips, food coloring and some gelatin. The directions aren't great (although good explanations).

Also, be aware of the time it takes to complete the experiments. It's like do all this then observe it for 2 days to see what happened. We had a "magic" one prior to this that was way better - you could see everything happening in the moment. No need to wait for days/hours by which my kids forgot all about what they were even supposed to see.

Warning! Ships in actual box....
by Kelly (2 out of 5 stars)

I cannot comment on what's inside of the box but I am writing it two stars for now due to 3 reasons...1 the fact that it was shipped in the Box. It has a big label that you can't peel off stuck on the front. How can I wrap this and say it's from Santa when there is a label with my home address on it...?! it sticks to the box when you try to remove it. Not to mention I walk to the front door with my son and saw it sitting there so I asked him to check the mail so his surprise didn't get ruined! He almost saw it! To top things off it was raining and the box was wet....3 strikes....not happy!

Last I can imagine all the dirty hands that had to touch this through the postage system feel like I have to wipe the box down now....

Funny and educational

February 4, 2018

This was purchased a a Christmas gift for my 8 year old granddaughter. She is very into science as well as the joy of gross things that make grown-ups squirm. This was the perfect combination of fun, science and appropriately gross. The trifecta of fun!

but I like a neatly packaged kit full of instructions and all ...

Since I have 2 little boys, this was very appealing to them. What was appealing to me was the science lesson they received by doing these experiments. You could definitely do these on your own without buying the kit, but I like a neatly packaged kit full of instructions and all the items you need. This was a full day of science fun, and there was extra do do again on another day.

Tip for Success!

A lot of people seem to have trouble getting the gelatin to set in the petri dishes. We popped ours in the fridge for an hour after pouring and they set perfectly. My six year old is super excited!

Perfect Gift

I got this for my niece for Christmas. I pride myself it getting my nieces and nephews good gifts and I gauge how well of a gift I got by how quickly they want to play with it. In this case, it was immediately.

Super gross - my boy loves it!
by Teresa (5 out of 5 stars)

I got this after seeing a friend post about it. My almost-5 year old has a couple of yucky habits and I wanted to teach him why they're gross. He loves watching the cultures grow each day and finding out how gross his body is. We can't wait to do the rest of the experiments in here.

My 9yo (and 13yo) love playing with this set! Scientific Explorer Disgusting Science Kit.

I hover so as to guide where accordingly appropriate, so I don't have a bigger discovery of my own!

Overall, satisfied! :)

Bad condition upon arrival
by Pamela Engilis (1 out of 5 stars)

This arrived today as a gift and it is trashed! Like, makes me think it's been opened before too. Not happy with the quality. It was in a larger box with gifts that arrived in tact and fine so I know it wasn't the box to blame

DISGUSTING!!
by Jennifer Elliott (4 out of 5 stars)
May 23, 2019

I knew when I purchased this that it was a glorified cardboard box with very little inside. That being said, it wasn't expensive and it definitely grossed us out! My 5 year old loved it and it served as a good visual aid when explaining why he has to wash his hands. We did one with swabs from the toilet and a door handle. Another was the bottom of his shoes, and another was clean hands vs dirty hands. This project also had the added bonus of providing ample motivation to deep clean and disinfect every surface in my house! 🤷"♀ï¸ðŸ˜œ
