DANGER WILL CAUSE DAMAGE!!!
by N. Salazar (1 out of 5 stars)

This is my issue. caused SEVERE damage to my valve stem. IT BROKE THE VALVE STEM!!
Installed these about 6 months ago on audi A4 OEM rims. I went to take them off today and oly one came off easy. other two i needed pliers to take them off and saw they corroded to the threads of the valve stem. I thought i'll just chuck them and took the last one off with pliers as they were stuck on tight as well. Well they were so corroded and bonded to the valve stem threading that valve stem and cap broke off and my tire went flat in 6 seconds. I now have to get the car towed or take the rim off and get a new valve stem put on... I attached a pic . I can also add a pic of the broken valve stem as well..

DO NOT BUY!!.. Yes I live in the northeast we get snow and salt but I washed my car regularly with an under body wash as well. This should not happen at all. NEVER EVERY BUY!

The good:

These valve stem covers were cheap and looked great on my Acura RDX.

The bad:

After less than a year and a half, the chrome plated stem caps rusted to the valve stem (which has a tire pressure monitoring system). Attempting to remove the steps resulted in broken stems, flat tires, and having to replace the Tire valve.

The ugly:

New monitoring systems are $26 apiece (on Amazon) and $50 apiece at the dealer. Installation of the new stems is $20-30 apiece, depending on your auto shop rates. The auto mechanic laughed and said they see this happen all the time. (In fact, there was a broken tire valve system lying on the counter when I was there). The hassle is not worth any price.

Summary:

Based on my experience, it would be wise to spend a few more dollars for aluminum caps which will not rust. These chrome caps will cost you MUCH more in the end. Also, seems the seller of this product should provide reimbursement for resulting damages. Maybe someone ticked off enough will file a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer and seller of this flawed product.

These look very nice. BUT

I have used these since 2012 (more than 5 years) on my Lexus with TPM (Tire Pressure Monitors) without a problem. These look very nice. BUT, I never had these on the car during wintertime here in the northeast, when all the salt and grit is on the roads. From Dec - April, I put on winter tires mounted on separate rims - without these caps. I suggest potential customers read some of the negative reviews from those who have found corrosion resulting perhaps from winter salt, or perhaps from different metals touching (these claim to be chrome, unlike most tire stems). Mechanics have also warned me against using inexpensive caps made of different metal on TPM tire stems, which can result in very expensive damage. I am switching to plain plastic caps.

good buy". BUT - and this is kind of ...

So, I read the reviews and since I was too lazy to do the add-on thing for plastic caps, I got these (am I the only one who can't figure out how to "add-on"?)

High quality little fellows, you can tell right off the bat. Peeking down the barrel, there's a small red gasket at the top which says "good buy, my friend, good buy".

BUT - and this is kind of serious ... I put these guys on all four tires of my 2013 Tundra - hand-tightening, mind you. I heard a "hiss" from one of the front tires. Now: I allow this might be some kind of problem with my valve stem - but this thing was letting the AIR OUT OF MY TIRE. Easy fix, I suppose, when you back it off a turn, but not awesome. May need a design tweak. I'll report later whether my other tires go flat. All that said, four stars assuming this is an oddball one-off. The caps are also quite cool looking, to the extent anyone's looking.

Qualiuty product at a good price!

Look as good today as they did the day I bought them. Go great with chrome wheels. Cannot do much better for the price.

Yes these are metal. Yes, they could eventually rust a bit over time. I however, have had these for a couple years and they show no signs of rusting in my case..... I live in the midwest and we experience a wide variety of weather. If mine started showing signs of rust within first few months I may have knocked off a star, but I have zero rust on them.

Obviously others have had some issues with this rust - this is no reason for a completely negative review in my opinion though. You are placing a very low cost metal object on another metal object, and then it is living most of it's life outside. If you are worried about potential rust, apply a bit of oil, silicone grease, WD-40 or any other lubricant before installing.

More importantly though, in regard to the rust issue several reviewers complained about. Are you installing these and then never checking your air pressure? I even saw some people stating they had to spend $100 or more to replace their valve stems..... this would have to take a long time to rest that badly. Say you check your air pressure every 3 months(which is not asking much really as it should be done more often) - there should be very little or no chance these would rust enough to lock on to your valve stems and seize up. The point is, anything will break down if you are not properly maintaining it as intended

Oh man I have to say this is awesome! First of all

Oh man I have to say this is awesome! First of all, they are not like the four pieces you see in the photo, they give you five! Then, each piece even has rubber inside, which makes the vent being sealed firmer. Although the coating on the metal surface is a little bit rough. But remember you are going to put them on your wheels! As compared to wheels, they are already smooth enough. Mine are shining under sunshine. Love them. Very beautiful and secure.

Given Away Gladly

These metal valve stem caps are required by the tech inspectors for the races I go in, so I like to have an extra set. The O-ring seals against possible valve air leaks, so they are a small safety benefit. I actually gave these away to a rookie driver when I was helping to run the Qualifying School, and she was surprised and delighted. She had plastic caps on her Porsche wheels, and the caps were colored silver so she thought they were metal, but she would have flunked tech. So these nice ones provided an immediate payback. I bet she remembers this and gives back to the sport herself one day.

They're so nice

that they're getting stolen, need to buy another set. Mr Gasket has been a good name in dress up auto parts for many, many years. You'll appreciate the weight of these as they are solid, unlike the cheap ones.

More sturdy than the plastic and keeps the water out.

More sturdy than the cheap standard plastic caps and does a good job of keeping grime and water out of the TPS air valves which is really important if you have TPS on your car.

Damaged my valve stems--$300 in repairs.
by Nathan Brunner (1 out of 5 stars)

I had a horrible experience with these--lived in Buffalo, NY, and by the time I noticed there was a problem, 3 of the 4 caps had gotten corroded to the point that they could not be removed without breaking the valve stems--cost $300+ to get them fixed due to the tire pressure sensors.
