Don't bother if you live in the north

After a couple winters the mat contracts all over and that causes it to bunching up on itself. The clip/snap on sides then begin to crack and break and the mat becomes dangerous for people walking in the garage. Some of the contracted "waves" are so tall my wife tripped over one last month and ripped her knee up and the cartilage is forever damaged in the knee now. Not that the mat leaped up to trip her, but it IS dangerous. I suspect the HOT summers and COLD winters in Montana cause the mat to do this. Each spring I removed it and washed it down and kept it well maintained, but that makes no difference. In fact it is worse. The mat works well for about a year only, then if you live with hot and cold years, expect it to become useless like mine did.

Bought a cheaper one at Costco, instantly returned it and bought this one (again!)

I had purchased a Clean Park garage mat for my previous home but left it with the new owners. When I built my new garage, I knew I wanted to protect the new concrete floor from all the rain/snow/salt/mud that comes standard with living and driving in Vermont. I decided to check out one of the competitor's brands first, but the moment I pulled it out of the box, I knew I'd purchased the wrong product. It NEVER laid flat, looked like a huge black plastic garbage bag, the wind would blow it up (so I had to anchor the corners down with bricks!) and ended up wearing a hole through it within a month. Luckily Costco has a nice return policy ;) I immediately logged onto Amazon, added the Clean Park garage mat to my cart and it arrived a few days later. Now, it does take some work to assemble but the mat does an amazing job at retaining all of the water/snow/mud/salt, stays flat and wrinkle-free (I opted for the thicker 50mm vinyl) making it super easy to squegee out. Don't make the same mistake I did and opt for the cheaper one...as the saying goes, "You get what you pay for!"

Better option would be buying vinyl

Buying a sheet of vinyl would be a cheaper option. The 50 mill has good weight to it but the plastic border is not designed well or sturdy. You can only use it once. Forget about removing and reusing season after season, they will break. So just getting a larger sheet of vinyl with some 2x4s underneath it on 3 sides would be a cheaper option

Cheap Product - Hours of my time wasted

I bought the 20mil version of this product and it is truly a very cheap quality product. It punctured multiple times upon assembly and the plastic edge pieces didn't fit appropriately around the short sides of the vinyl sheet. I gave numerous attempts to get the plastic edge pieces to fit and I still couldn't get it right. I diligently read the instructions and watched the youtube video on how to assemble this product all to no avail. Hours of my time wasted. Out of urgent need, and really no better option in a 7.5' x 14' size for a garage mat, I purchased the 50mil version which is much thicker. No punctures during assembly, but the edge pieces on the short sides of the vinyl sheet still don't fit. I just ended up leaving them off with the thicker version.

It cleans up pretty well. You'll probably never keep it looking perfect

Simple and works. I've driven over it a couple hundred times by now and had no issues. It cleans up pretty well. You'll probably never keep it looking perfect, as I believe the vinyl stains, but I don't care nor am I going to try to keep it perfect. I simply sweep it off and will likely hose it off a couple times a year. My garage floor is sloped so I love how it traps quite a bit of water. It only overflowed a couple of times after I had snow on my car.

Medium difficulty installation, shifts if you don't come on it strait, works well for intended purpo

This is not quite as easy to install as the description indicates, but can be accomplished by an able female in 30-45 min. There is a considerable amount of effort required to get the pieces to snap together, and even if you lay it out beforehand, you might end up repositioning them.

Getting onto and off the mat takes a little more oomph than I am used to entering and exiting my garage with, but I have gotten used to it.

Our garage is carpeted, so that might interfere with the performance of the mat. The following paragraph represents our experience, but might not be the case in a standard concrete garage: You need to get into the habit of lining your car up just right and accelerating smoothly when exiting the garage because speed and steering adjustments while on the mat cause shifting and wrinkles.

Overall it is a quality made mat that does an excellent job of protecting our garage. We left off one of the side pieces where the drain is under the mat so that snow can drain easily.

Does the job but could be better
by CSW (3 out of 5 stars)

The primary material is a heavy gauge plastic/rubber sheet. That material is the best part of the product. The problem are the connectors used to "complete" the product. There are a variety of plastic pieces that clip to the sheet. The instructions are vague and it is important to place each clip alongside the next properly-using the same amount of overlay on the rubber before clipping, lest the pieces not form a straight line. In addition, one needs to cut the piece to ensure its actual dimensions match the number of pieces sent. (The company says they "allow for expansion". I suspect it has more to do with quality control.) The entry pieces are of relatively cheap plastic and poorly constructed as there is no easy way to sweep out the water or dirt as the clipped-on piece interferes with a smooth transition from the rubber mat to the entry pieces. You end up pushing dirt or water under the piece as much as over it. While the product does protect the floor once assembled, there are other ways that would better suit this sort of reasonably expensive product. The manufacturer should substitute more pliable rubber connectors that are self aligning and make a better mate to the mat. I give this an average rating. It could have been a much better product.

Wish that all info was given up front...

I bought the mat to protect my sealed garage floor from my studded tires. The instructions that came with the mat said "don't use with studs or chains" and that they had protective strips for $99 or use carpet runners that could be added for the extra protection. If I had known this, I would have bought the carpet runners.
I went ahead and installed it, because I didn't want to pay to ship it back. So far I've been happy with it. No problems driving on it with studded tires (for the last three months). My car is light (vibe) and this is the 3rd season with these tires. I make sure not to turn my tires on it. The mat does a good job, cleans nicely with my floor squeegy.
Another problem is if you want to work on your car, rolling a jack or using a creeper would be a real pain in the butt. Also I like to use my floor space for projects. So rolling the table-saw, tool-box or anything else is out of the question.
Come this spring I may try storing it to regain my floor space. Hopefully that will go well.

Mat Durability
by Eugene W Hall (4 out of 5 stars)

These mats are easy to install and look great. They handle the winter water situation well here in NH. The only issue I have is a durability issue with the plastic edges at the end you drive over. These tend to warp and crack over time and at some point need to be replaced.

Measure twice, never cut
by R. Thomas Berner (4 out of 5 stars)

Like others, we had an issue with the pitch of our garage floor and any water on our car dripped off in the wrong direction. So far the mat has worked well, but we haven't tested it in the winter when our car is loaded with snow.

Assembling it wasn't that hard. My wife and I figured it out rather quickly. HOWEVER, one note of caution: Do NOT trim this. It isn't necessary. We installed the mat in the smaller bay of our three-bay garage. This is where I park my FJ Cruiser. My wife insisted that the mat was too long and trimmed it despite my protests.

Now it's shorter than the Cruiser. It didn't have to be.

If you really think you need to trim, just fold it under and try it that way first.
