Yrs old & still talking perfectly.
by Connie (5 out of 5 stars)

This thing is getting old now & still talking perfectly. Words are understandable, motion activated, & in my case it really lasts. I would think the batteries should've died over a yr ago! My bird never got all that into it, but it's there if she gets bored. She's more into watching & pestering the dog. And the dog is the one who makes this toy talk to the bird. It's just the way my little wackos socialize--like siblings. So I have to give it 5 stars for working consistantly over the yrs & still going. Made well. I have a conure that can chew thru plastic & even supposedly bird proof indestructable acrylic like a champ, but she doesn't chew this toy up for some reason. If she did, I'd take it away because of wiring, batteries, possible lead or who knows what inside it. So if you have a destructive bird, just watch to see if they break into it & take it away if they do. I would have bet anything my bird would have chewed a corner off in the 1st wk. I don't know if it's because of the smooth edges & rounded corners or some design characteristic that accounts for her not demolishing it, but if it is, then the manufacturer knows what they're doing!

BEST UNIQUE Toy and Picky Birds Like It
by Duckie (5 out of 5 stars)
March 19, 2017

This is one of the BEST bird toys made! I own a Cockatiel and he is one cute, but picky bird. He has his selection of toys he likes and rarely likes rotation of toys or new ones. I bought this because he LOVES mirrors. He likes talking now and again as well on his own time so I figured this might be something he would like. When new toys are put in the cage it takes him anywhere from a week to a year to play and like them.

The bird took to this toy IMMEDIATELY after putting it in his cage! AMAZING! He LOVES it to this day! It will never be taken out of his cage, unless being cleaned because that's how much he LOVES it.

The only complaint I had with this product was the voice on the speaker when you pushed the buttons were way too loud and it actually scared my bird. I did remedy that with some painters tape to quiet the voice and it worked like a charm.

Some birds cannot resist the Talk 'n Play Phone
by ParrotSlave (5 out of 5 stars)
March 9, 2011

My younger BFA, Buddy, cannot resist the Talk 'n Play Phone. I have some of each size for both my birds. I can't tell if Buddy is enjoying playing with it or if he is totally involved in hating it. Either way, it keeps him occupied and gives him something to do. He is jealous or angry at any voices coming out of a small box. He loves music coming from a regular stereo, but his reaction to the play phone is the same as his reaction to my iPhone when I play music on it: his instinct is to want to destroy it instantly. He has destroyed the play phones. He picks the whole thing up, throws it down as hard as possible, picks it up again, and so on. My other BFA, Ziggy, likes it sometimes, but treats it as a normal toy. He will be infatuated with it for a while, then go about his business. If the toy can stand as much abuse as Buddy has given it, then it is not dangerous in terms of hazardous pieces. However, it could be dangerous if mounted the way it is intended, i.e., attached to the side of a cage with the provided chain and ring. The reason I say that is that when it gets attacked violently by the bird, it can swing back and forth with a lot of momentum that could theoretically hurt your bird if it hits him. I have had to buy several of these for Buddy, but I do not mount them on the side of a cage or from the top. I put them outside the cage on the top, or else do not attach them at all. There is one issue: cleaning poop off of it. Birds can get it anywhere, as you know, and when it gets on the face of the play phone, just clean it upside down with a moist rag. It is designed to come apart, theoretically to replace the battery, and I have been able to clean it by taking it apart, but it seems to be recalcitrant about working when it gets put back together sometimes.

Fun Toy for Birds
by cattledog (5 out of 5 stars)
May 4, 2014

You know how birds are; it takes them a long time to go near a new toy. Then they finally find out how much FUN it can be. I put this in the cage and pretty much forgot about it, changing out the other toys for variety but still hoping she would at least try to play with this one. Then at last it happened. I kept hearing someone say HELLOOOO and couldn't figure out who it was or where the person was at. I felt pretty dumb but happy when I realized my bird was pressing one of the buttons and the toy was saying HELLOOOO. It wasn't long before she started trying the others, too. Now it is her most favorite toy!

Let down...
by Lesa (2 out of 5 stars)
December 12, 2012

I have an African gray, he was bored in 5 minutes with this. He has a red hard plastic ball that makes random noises when pushed that he adores and I was hoping he'd like this as well. I cannot find another ball but found this and what a let down. We ordered the medium which is about right for him in size and it does look a little flimsy as other reviews mentioned. This one has a noise of a laugh, one is saying, "I love you" , and I think a cat meow and another saying ?something? not quite sure exactly what. My bird speaks very well and is too intelligent for this toy! Seriously, I don't want him to "revert" and mimic this toy. I, and my bird, prefer the toys that make sounds - not music, not words, but noises. Sorry Talk n Play. :-(

Our amazon loves it.
by Mrs. T. (5 out of 5 stars)

When we adopted our 32 yr old amazon, he already had one of these. But it wasn't working too well, so we bought him another one. He loves his phone! His eyes pin, and he click and clucks over it.

Honestly I believe that if we took the old one apart and cleaned it that it would work fine. You can take that phone and bang it against the counter and it will start working again..lol So, it's very durable. The voice isn't very clear so I wouldn't rely on it to teach it any words...so it is more entertainment for the birds.

Our bird is a lilac crowned amazon(which is one of the smaller amazons) and this phone is the perfect size.

He has loved it for years
by P. Di Giulio (5 out of 5 stars)

I can't remember if and when I've written a review before ... but this toy is worth the effort. It is at least 4 years ago that I bought this toy for my cockatiel. He took quickly to this toy, and it has been part of his way of life. This toy has been very reliable and I've only had to change the batteries once. Nonetheless, the reason I'm here is that I want to buy another of these ... in case someday the one I have stops working. I can't imagine what life would be like for my bird without this toy ... it has become one of his best friends.

Great for our Grey!
by amazonfan (5 out of 5 stars)

Our 15 old African Grey absolutely loves this toy. He pulls it over to cuddle with, his best friend. Tucker has a huge vocabulary and though I have heard that talking toys sometimes discourage a bird from talking, this has not been the case with Tucks. He continues to talk a blue streak. He has gotten a little over enthusiastic with his buddy; he chewed the buttons and I have since ordered a new Jungle Talk 'n Play and one to spare. Highly recommend this toy based on our experience but must say beware with larger birds, those large beaks can easily break the plastic.

Hannibal Loves It
by S. W. (5 out of 5 stars)
April 19, 2014

This is the 2nd time I've purchased this particular toy. The first one was bought at a local pet store and lasted him 2.5 years. It finally gave out and I searched frantically for another one before I found it here. He jumps on the "I love you" button every time I enter the room, he just loves playing with it. I put this in his cage and he was like a little parrotlet at Christmas :)

satisfied pet lovebird
by Papuga (4 out of 5 stars)
July 14, 2013

The first one didn't work well despite screwing in the screw in the back and I had to constantly press it hard then tape it in.

However, the 2nd one worked without problems. My 6 yo pet lovebird loves it. He constantly walks on it or nudges it with his beak and he acts satisfied with the noises. It is very cute when he does "hello" when I come into the room and "love you" whenever I'm walking around the room. I'm not sure if he understands which button is which, but he appears happier and screams a lot less since he had the toy. I know he likes it since other small toys I put in his bag (he has a cage and outside of the cage on his table, he has a toiletry bag he adores) he throws/tosses them out or pushes them out. He likes to push on a button than stick half his head out and wait for me to praise him or notice him. He plays with it everyday.
