Fun Alarm Clock

I have given this a 3 Start review, that doesn't mean its a bad product. Just that it is made cheaply, but for the price I am not sure what you would expect.

What more can I say, the clock works, the alarm rings and the copter flys. This does what it advertises, it is a great product for the price. I am not sure how long it will last since it is a little cheaper construction.

Ok, Now for the Pros/Cons

Pros:

It tells time, it has a clock back light

The Copter Flys

Its alarm is loud enough

The Price is good

Cons:

It seems a little cheap

It might break

It doesn't come with a wall plug, you have to use batteries or buy a separate plug.

Overall for the price this is a great item.

This is so fun and a hilarious way to get your teenager out ...

This is so fun and a hilarious way to get your teenager out of bed. It is a loud impossible-to-sleep-through alarm, and the flying portion really takes off so that they have to get out of bed and look around. I got two, one each for my teenagers. Eventually my sons flew into some black hole inside his room and beeped until the whole house was up searching. We never found it. My daughter just put a shirt over hers after the first night. Different, fun, as described, came on time.

DOA

I don't feel like ranting about all the issues, so here's a list:
- Of the two small watch-type batteries, one was leaking. Which I had to clean up for it to work.
- The Display was weak, fading in and out (probably due to the defective batteries running the clock).
- The propeller arrived bent and off balance
- The clock alarm did not work the first 4 times I tried it (it's not rocket science, and it inexplicably suddenly began to work)
- Sometime the spinner in the base decides to work, sometimes it doesn't.
- When the spinner does work, it's not strong enough to spin the propeller nearly fast enough to lift off (I'm using 4 brand new AA Duracells to power it).
- After a dozen tries, the best I could get it to do was spin the off-balance propeller enough to make it fall off the side of the clock.
- Also, despite having a wall-plug connection on the base, there was no plug that arrived with the item.

Conclusion - Returned (obviously)

Don't waste your time with this thing.

The theory is great...

The alarm did not work as advertised. After putting brand new batteries and setting the alarm according to the instructions, I was dissappointed to find that the propeller did not fly, but rather fell off of the alarm clock. I even had someone else got hrough the set up process to make sure that I jhadn't missed something. They got the propellor to fly but only about a foot off of the base. The alarm is supposed to continue sounding until the propellor is returned to its base, but stopped as soon as it was off of its base. It was a waste of money...

Wasted time messing with it then finally realized it only had one part of the batteries so I added 4AA the alarm went off but the propeller only spins and does not actually launch. Returning this item

FLYING ALARM CLOCK

I ACTUALLY REQUESTED A RETURN BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE NOT CLEAR, HOWEVER, MY SON GOT IT TO WORK. I DON'T THINK A SELLER SHOULD BE ABLE TO PRICE AN ITEM FOR LESS TAN IT'S VALUE AND CHARGE AN UNFAIR PRICE FOR SHIPPING (4 X THE PRICE OF THE ITEM). I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM THIS SELLER AGAIN FOR THAT REASON AND ALSO THE PACKAGING WAS TERRIBLE. EVEN IF MY SON HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO WORK, IT WOULD HAVE COST ME MORE TO SEND IT BACK THAN WHAT I PAID FOR IT. I DON'T LIKE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.

The alarm went off once and have not been able to put back together. It went up 2 inches max and that was it.

a fun little gift... but didn't fly

Our helicopter didn't launch too much... I have a feeling the little mechanism just didn't work well. It was an inexpensive gift for my husband - kind of a joke / gag gift for him. He was pretty excited, laughed really hard... desired response achieved.

The alarm starts, then gets louder... then the helicopter takes off (barely). Kind of cool / fun if it worked better. Not sure I would use this every day...

Good Idea, cheaply made
by Fox (3 out of 5 stars)

Out of the box, the 'key' did not sit properly in the cradle, and it was impossible to shut off the alarm without removing the batteries. I later found that if you insert the key, twist it, and then gently pull upward, it will shut the alarm off.

I imagined that the helicopter key would fly a good distance away from the base unit, but it does not. Instead, it flies upward with so much torque that it hits the ceiling and falls to the ground right beside base. Kind of defeats the entire purpose of this unique alarm clock.

I suggest saving a little more cash and buying a "Clocky." It seems to be the only alarm clock of this type that is well manufactured and worth the price.

dissappointing

bought for my heavy sleeper, item never really worked for us. once the alarm did finally go off and the top piece flew off, getting the alarm to stop sounding was annoying.. didn't bother trying to return or contact seller, by the time it was purchased, unwrapped, and then realized there was an issue w/ product assumed I would have been past all return/exchange dates....
