I actually purchased this item in 2012 had it stored in a hot garage until last night. We were expecting to get flooding and possible loss of power as we are on the 'dirty' side of the storm not in the direct path of the hurricane. My neighbors informed us as the last minute that if the power grid goes down like it did for hurricane Ike that our water station will go down. It was down for a week with Ike. The heavy rain was not due in out area until Saturday. Friday evening 8pm, with a light drizzle outside,the power suddenly went out. The storm is forcast to rain for another 3-5 days and panic set it. Remembered that we had the water Bob in the garage and decided to give it try. It's been stored in high Texas heat so the worry was that the plastic wouldn't be sturdy enough to hold water anymore. We thought of just filling the tub, which would have been plan B but with a toddler at home, open water is not preferable, also the water would be subject to dust,etc. Pics below are from filling it in the dark with just a cell phone flashlight. Very easy, 1 person job, was able to do most of it 1 handed. Few tips though. We placed it in the rounded garden tub which made it difficult to fill due to backflow And next time will place it in a standard tub. Also due to the back flow, the fill tube would back up once the bob started filling and causing a bend in the tube- causing mild spillage. Thought about cutting the tube but decided against it just in case we had the opportunity to top it off later. I would suggest making a cuff as shown in pics as the bob fills. It's now morning and no leaks found. Would definitely buy again.

Got me through two hurricanes so far

Used my 100 gallon WaterBOB during Hurricane Matthew (October 2016). My power was out, my roof was totaled, and my sprinkler system got fried by lightning, but I had plenty of water thanks to this.

I'm going to buy a battery operated siphon pump to use with it, though. Although the included siphon worked perfectly well, it was quite painful to use because I have arthritis in my hands.

Update 09/25/17: After Matthew last year, I added some bleach to the water before emptying, then drained and rinsed it, and dried it out by hanging it all spread out. Had to change its position a few times until totally dry inside. Once it was completely dry, I folded it back into the box and stuck it in a freezer. We don't use it for drinking, just washing and flushing, so even though it's intended to be a one-use item, I figured it was worth a try.

To prepare for Irma this year, I thawed it to room temp, then unfolded it and stuck it in the bathtub (do not unfold while frozen; it will be brittle). It was in perfect condition to use again. It held water again for almost 3 weeks without a single leak.

Instead of a battery operated siphon, I ended up getting a shaker siphon - just a long tube with a shaker primer on one end. This makes it SO easy! And it makes emptying the bag a breeze: using your hand, carefully fish the plain end of a siphon tube under the filled bag and make sure the end is pointed into the tub drain. Then stick the siphon end into the water in the bag via one of the holes on top, shake it a few times, and wait for the bag to empty.

Failure

Pulled this brand new item out of the box to fill it in preparation for Hurricane Irma and there is rip right up the crease. It won't hold water at all. When I need it the most, 24 hours from the hurricane, this item was a complete failure. I don't know how the company will react when I try to return it but I know I relied on it and I shouldn't have.

Fragile

Although you can never have too much water during a disaster, this bladder is much larger than a standard size bathtub which makes filling it a) tedious because creases form and you have to continuously pull areas taught so the side with the caps doesn't slide below the water level and b) risks tearing the plastic. The plastic is fairly thin & brittle and I was worried from reading so many reviews where leaks or tears at the seams occurred. I tried filling it in a standard tub and also a master bedroom jacuzzi and both were tedious. I did not do a leak test before disaster day as other reviewers recommended but fortunately there were no leaks. I was very confused how anyone could do a hydrotest in advance because it is extremely tedious to dry out and every fold-unfold combo puts a deep scratch in it. The best way to check for leaks would be to fill it with air from a hair blow dryer on the cold setting.

This is a must have for anyone worried about losing power and water. I live in Florida and during a hurricane I used mine. We went with out power and water for a week. This water bladder really saved our bacon! we did not have to wait in a water line at the fire station like so many others. I keep reading people saying this is a one time use item. I rinsed the inside out with organic apple vinager and spring water and then used a shop vac to dry the inside of mine. There has been no mildew or foul odors I would use it again with confidence.

Better than scrambling to find cases of water

Just survived Hurricane Matthew. I filled this up in my tub before I evacuated. Very easy to use, but be sure you center it in the tub because it's impossible to move once it gets even partially filled. It's huge with lots of extra capacity well beyond a standard size tub. It's been 3 days now and bladder is still holding. No leaks. Siphon easy to use as well (luckily, I've not actually needed any water but I'm leaving it filled until I'm sure Matthew doesn't swing back into my area as some models are showing).

WaterBOB Works But Siphon Pump Needs A Redesign

Like many other people, I kept the waterBOB in the original packaging until I needed it. The water bag and fill sock worked as per the instructions.

Fortunately, the hurricane spared us. Now I realize there's no great way to empty this bag and dry it out inside. I'd really like to see one more port on the bottom for draining it after use.

The biggest issue, however, is that the siphon pump did not operate. On closer inspection I can see a crack in the plastic at the base of the bulb one would squeeze to develop suction. There are also pinholes in the tubing along the plastic seams of the tubing attached to the siphon pump. The materials used to make the siphon, the stress concentrations, and the plastic molding process all need a redesign and better quality control.

Bottom line, it works, but you may need to invest in a siphon pump or just some clear tubing at your local hardware store.

Single Use Product

I liked the concept of having an extra hundred gallons of water in case I had to go without running water. Fortunately, the hurricane didn't hit us as hard as we expected. Perhaps my review would be different in true emergency. I tried to drain this thing in my bathtub and realized there is no good way to get the water out of it other than slicing the bottom open with a knife. Consider this a single use product. It is very difficult to drain and impossible to package back up the way it came. It was a waste of water, money, and left me with a pile of plastic to take to the trash. I wouldn't buy this product again.

one time use makes it kinda worthless. You have to guess if its going to be needed and if you're wrong then you just threw away money. I'm going to look into alternate forms of storing water from now on.
