How did I ever live without this machine? WHY did I ever live without this machine?? I am a 20 year sufferer of nasal polyps, along with allergies and asthma, and I have the worst rhinitis of anyone I've ever met. I take a full 10mg Zyrtec every day, sometimes I have to take 2. Of course I was a religious user of my trusty netipot, but the relief symptoms only seemed to last a few hours.

I can't tell you why I never tried a sinus irrigation system before this. I've had a few ENTs suggest them, but I kind of assumed they were a money making scheme. I am not one to pay $80 for something or someone to do what I can do all by myself with a netipot, thank you very much.

But this year I returned to Arizona, where my allergies are 100x worse than anywhere else in the world (remember how they used to send people here to clear up their respiratory problems? Ha ha ha sigh...) and I was desperate enough to try ANYTHING that would reduce my symptoms. Enter: the SinuPulse.

I'm not kidding when I say that this machine has changed my life. Here's how my day goes: Wake up, pretty stuffy. Within 5 minutes, sneezing everywhere, go through half a box of tissues. When I'm awake enough to see, put SinuPulse to work (I add Alkalol - I feel like this is an important element, but I haven't done any control tests.) For the next 30 minutes, I sneeze even more! My sinuses are super irritated, snot everywhere (sorry for the graphic language, kids) can't stop sneezing. Then suddenly... it stops. I can breathe through my nose. I can smell. My sinuses feel the way those Downy dryer sheet commercials promise they're gonna make your towels feel. AND I DIDN'T EVEN TAKE AN ANTIHISTAMINE. WHAT IS THIS MAGIC?!?

I'm not saying its the cure-all, I still have nasal polyps and still get miserable allergies sometimes. But this machine reduces my symptoms so drastically, so often, I feel like a fool for going 20 years without it.

This is our second one after the first one died after 5 years of heavy use. All 3 of us use it and it cannot be beat when you are under the weather and congested, have done yard work and need to flush out dust, it's allergy season, or just in general if you feel you need to flush out your sinus cavity. Even my daughter has used this by herself since she was 5 years old.

Does the job, but I like Grossan better.

For years, I've used a Grossan Hydro Pulse. After my latest one took a turn for the worse, I decided to try the SinuPulse Elite after a recommendation from a family member.

The Grossan unit has this wonderful round reservoir whereas the SinuPulse has an "L" shaped reservoir .. sort of like a Tetris piece. The reservoir is very cumbersome to work with, in my opinion. Too many angles.

I've also had a LOT of problems with the feeder valve in the bottom of the reservoir. I get all of my solution mixed up and ready to use and nothing comes out of the wand. I've learned to wet the inner and outer surface of the value before I use it and before I fill it with solution. Perhaps the o ring sticks when its dried out. Not sure. Never had this issue with my Grossan.

It does what it designed to do. Irrigate your sinuses. So I give it four stars for that. Anyone who has sinus issues should get an irrigator of some type. You won't regret it.

Would I recommend this unit. Maybe. But I would recommend the Grossan unit first, simple because it's easier to use due to the reservoir shape.

Whatever unit you buy, make sure you run a clean reservoir of just water through after every use. Years ago I neglected to do that and learned the hard way how easily dried salt can accumulate and interfere with the performance of the unit.

Life Changer!

This product is amazing. I have had sinusitis and sinus infections my whole life and I usually need to go on antibiotics a couple times a year. I've been to an ENT and there wasn't much that he was able to do. I was starting to feel hopeless and then I came across this product! It's changed my life. Instead of letting my sinuses get infected and then having to rely on harsh medicines to heal, instead I'm proactively cleansing my sinuses and thus preventing the sinus infections and even sinusitis in the first place! This product cleans your sinuses in a really effective, gentle way. I've even found that when I feel that I'm coming down with a cold, if i flush the virus out of my sinuses using this product I feel better instantly. It even has a throat attachment that can be used to make sure that the cold virus gets flushed out of your throat and down to your stomach where the stomach acid will kill it. I can't rave about this product enough. I use it at least once a day and it's kind of scary the type of stuff that it cleans out. I've found that I feel so much better since I've started using this product a few months ago, I haven't had a sinus flare up since!

Read this before you buy!

First of all, you cannot return this item if you do not like it. It would have been great it that was clearly indicated, it is not.

Pros:

The reservoir is much easier to clean then the bottle or Neti pot.

The reservoir also hold more water, that combined with nifty wand this allows for a prolonged irrigation.

You can control the flow pressure.

Cons:

On the highest flow pressure it is approximately 20% of what you normally would get using the squeeze bottle. Often instead of 'items' being flushed from nose they just hang like a long unappealing string from tip of nose that you have to use your hand to remove(ugh). This is because the water pressure on the highest level just 'slightly' pushes stuff out your nasal cavity while the manual bottle flushes out. This is a really big deal for people with complicated sinus issues. If you have no issues and just want to rinse your nasal for health reasons, this may be okay with you. If you have any type of clogging, drainage, or whatever, this unit is really under powered. Case in point, I have gone back to using the manual squeeze bottle.

I have been using this for 1 week and I'm sold! I have horrid sinus issues. Nausea, headache, dizzy spells , black circles under my eyes, tooth/jaw pain and overall fatigue to the point that I could not make it without 24 hour Sudafed everyday. I'm slowly working the dial up to a higher pulse... I suggest starting with 2 for a few days and moving up slowly. I've not taken any form of sinus medication since I started using my Sinupulse! Happy! Happy! Happy!
**UPDATE** it's now been 2 months and I still have not used Sudafed! I use the Sinupulse everyday day in the AM and sometimes at night. I still use between level 3 & 4, anything above does give me a slight earache.
******1 YEAR later and still not a single dose of decongestant! Best thing I've ever invested in. Machine runs as good as the day I bought it.

BUYER BEWARE: You can't return a defective item

While trying to disinfect the product prior to using FOR THE FIRST TIME, the water/bleach mixture quickly and steadily leaked all over my counter. I hoped this was a fixable defect ... but when I tried to return/replace it, this item was "NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE RETURNED."

Next time, I'll buy my products from a reliable big box store with a better return policy.

Oddly, Life Changing.

Hyperbolic though it may sound, This little-machine has changed my life! ... yeah, I-know-I-know.. But I have suffered all my life with severe allergies which have been the cause of decades long ear infections - which have required many surgeries including a complete rebuilding of my inner ear and removal of part of my skull due to the infections which no antibiotic could touch, rotting away the skull around my inner ear.

The pain that went along with all that? Staggering.

Then came the sinus infections. Migraine or toothache type pain depending on which cavity the infection moved to. The disgusting smelling watery brown discharge.. No antibiotic worked.

This machine cleared up my sinus infection, doesn't allow allergens to set a foothold in my sinus cavities so keeps my sinuses open, which, in-turn, prevents the drainage tubes which feed from my ears from being congested, which prevents ear infections, and enables me to HEAR!

Not only this. I have not had a single real cold since using this machine every-day.

I have nothing bad to say about this machine whatsoever.

Even made my Wife a believer. She uses it everyday, as do I. And we have both used this first SinuPulse Elite machine we received, daily, for SIX years.

Well.. Ain't nothing lasts forever... After six long years or reliable service, the button on the wand has begin to stick, so, Time for a reinvestment. And a reinvestment I have no issue making.

I have tried all the "pots" with all the mess they make, This SinusPulse Elite is so far beyond a neti-pot it's not even in the same ballpark.

So, if you are in-need this kinda thing.. THIS IS WHAT YOU BUY!!! :0)

I make my own rinse: My recipe is this:

Into One Gallon of store-bought distilled water I add 1.35oz of Morton's Canning Salt and 2.15oz of Xylitol. Works for me and works wonders!

Game changer, life improver - Cedar Fever has met its match!!!!!

I've never written a review for anything. Ever. But this was a game changer for me. I live in the heart of the Texas hill country and suffer from miserable cedar fever. Last year I had FIVE back to back sinus infections and after multiple rounds of antibiotics and steroid shots I ended up having the balloon sinuplasty procedure, which was good, but only for that season. When it started up again this winter I knew I had to do something. I don't suffer from congestion but 24/7 post nasal drip and PAIN & PRESSURE plus losing my ability to taste/smell certain things for several months out of the year. Mostly in my upper sinuses, which cannot be cleaned out with a traditional netti pot. I take Claritin, prescription nose spray, mucinex sinus, use essential oils, breathe right strips, acupressure, netti pots, and generally just end up sitting up right with a hot rag over my eyes. I have 4 kids. 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers. I can't afford to be taken down, but the pain wiped me OUT. This machine has finally allowed me to clean out my upper sinuses and address the feeling of having ice picks in my eye sockets. It's amazing/disturbing what things have come out in my sink. Disgusting and simultaneously so relieving to feel it come out. Being able to direct the flow and pressure of the flow allows me to blast everything out. I feel like doing it one time took care of 75% of what was an ongoing problem. Now whenever the pollen count is high and I wake up in pain I use this immediately & I feel 90% better. Whatever negatives or shortcomings or design flaws this machine has I don't even see them. I don't care if it leaks or makes a mess or whatever. It's been a game changing, life improver. For upper sinus pain and pressure this thing is amazing.

I am completely satisfied with this system. I can now smell things that I haven't smell sinse I can remember. You can feel the water make it high up in the nasal cavity. I waited 8 years to buy this because of the price. I use to use the squirt bottle thinking that I was saving money. There is a HUGE difference. The bottle is great if you are traveling and need to rinse with pressure. This has a 25 oz reservoir which means if it takes longer for that snot/mucus to come out you can do it without having to full the 8oz bottle with the saline mixture a bunch of times. The directions say to mix the solution in the water FIRST then put it in the reservoir. That is what I do. I make sure to rinse out the machine every time I use it and turn the container upside down to dry. I had a different machine where I mixed the salt and water in the reservior AND I did not rinse it out. That machine broke after some time. So I am taking all of the precautions due to some of the reviews for this one.

I have not had this long so if it breaks I will be amending this review.

I have not used the throat sprayer or the other tips yet. I plan to one day but for now I use the blue nasal tip 6 days a week.

It comes with saline packets. I have used them but I use a sea salt mix for netti pots. I hope this helps someone's decision to buy this.
