I bought these for 4th of July, as it has become a tradition to light these lanterns before the fireworks. Not only were these bigger than a lot of others I saw, but they were easy to light and floated quite far. You must read the directions and follow closely. I wish I would of taken the time to light one as a test before as the first one was a bust, but after that we got the hang of it and they were really beautiful. The biggest selling point for me is that they are eco friendly and biodegradable.

Our family lets off lanterns every year on January 1st. I'm not a tree-hugger by any stretch, but it did kinda' bother me that the cheaper lanterns have a metal ring that is ultimately left behind when the lantern is done. These are completely biodegradable and they work great! The fuel "tablet" is much easier to light, too. On other models they have a square of paraffin wax. On this model, it's like some sort of flame-retardant cardboard or something.

Follow the instructions, you need to bend/fold and open up the fuel source a little so that it burns more slowly and evenly. Light two corners on opposite sides of the fuel tablet and it takes about 3 minutes to get the lantern launched. The packaging was absolutely top-notch. They even had a silica gel packet in each one to keep the paper clean and fresh. We live in the South East...and when we launched these, they went well over 1,000 feet high and sailed off out of sight. The instructions say the fuel burns for about 15 minutes...and that seems about right. They'll be far out of sight before they burn out. As far as lanterns go...these are absolutely the best.

I bought these for a memorial service for a dear friend that passed away. They where bright and beautiful just like her. The wick lights easily and they are big and colorful. You can see them for miles! We lit the lanterns at the beach and we could see them for a very long time. Great lanterns and very well priced.

Wow! Just like Tangled!

I was surprised at how big, how high they go, how easy to light, and how just fun they are. Love that there are a variety of colors. You need two people to light one though. One holds it and the other lights it. Then you just wait til it fills up with warm air and up it goes, a long, long ways. Magical!

These lanterns are well-constructed, easy to unfold and fly, and are biodegradeable! Don't waste your time with the cheap ones - if you want a lantern that will fly a long way and rest assure won't rot in a field somewhere buy these!

And do heed the instruction of not attempting these in winds over 5 mph - we had some close calls on a windy night :)

Took a little bit of getting used to. Lost one or two in the process. Once we got the hang of it they worked great. Keep in mind that the conditions have to be perfect. Very little wind blowing in just the right direction. We set them off on the beach and watched them go over the ocean...beautiful...and the kids loved it!

These lanterns are beautiful, but beware how large they are (which is not a bad thing). I did not read the description, so I was shocked at the size. They look gorgeous as they take to the sky, but please keep in mind nearby trees and buildings when lighting these magnificent lanterns. I highly recommend these for romantic settings.

First time I ever bought these lanterns. I will definitely buy them again. Very easy to assemble. One person can do it alone but I recommend two people when lighting it. I bought these and sent them up in the Sky in memory of my son. Absolutely beautiful!
