Exceeded my expectations! Can't be happier
by Jin Wen Hui (5 out of 5 stars)

this phone has totally exceeded my expectations. I can't be happier with the product.
1. It is very well made. Just like in the picture
2. I love the fake rotary button design. Seriously people, you really want to dial ten digi number with a rotary dial? When people had really rotary dial, their phone number was like three digits.
3. I haven't called from home phone in six years. This phone just makes me want to talk on it for hours. I have tested it, totally works.

P.s. People whose phones are not working, you need to call your phone service provider. It has nothing to do with the phone itself.

Great novelty item, but has some flaws
by Ravenwood (3 out of 5 stars)

This is a great novelty phone that works well and looks fantastic. But there are some flaws and design characteristics that detract from the phone.

First, the handle is plastic and feels very cheap. Wood or even a solid heavyweight plastic would have given it some heft and made it feel more authentic.

Also, the ringer is a modern, electronic sounding tone. Oh, you can crank the handle and hear the real ring, but when someone calls it sounds like one of those cheap 1980s electronic rings. The only adjustments are for ring volume, so we are kinda stuck with it. Even my cell phone has an old timey ring, so I don't understand why they couldn't put one on this phone.

If you have vision problems, this isn't the phone for you. The numbers on the buttons are a dark brown font on a black background and very difficult to read. Sure its just 0 through 9, but you have to strain to see the numbers from any distance. And forget it in low light.

Overall the phone looks great, but as soon as you handle it, the old timey charm dissipates. The frame is die-cast, but there is a lot of cheap feeling plastic used as well. the entire neck and platform above the dial are plastic, as well as the handle itself. I would have like to see more durable materials used.

The coiled handset cord is a nice cloth that has a modular jack at one end, but not the other. So if the cord frays, you can use any modern handset with the base. However there is no way to disconnect the cord from the handset, so I guess that is just trash (or a jerry-rigged repair). Time will tell how long it lasts, but for the money I wonder if we should have picked up an authentic antique phone instead.

Excellent reproduction with modern features
by Kenneth Roberts (5 out of 5 stars)

Beautiful phone. I researched the original and this one is close. Don't listen to all the negative comments. The phones from the time period did not have dial ringers or touchtone buttons. You turned the crank to get an operator's attention who manually connected you to whomever you wanted to talk to. The bells don't ring because you would need another power other than your phone line. Phones were partially made of baklite an early resin which was thick and heavy. Modern plastics are much better. In summary enjoy the phone for what it is.

I originally got this more for decoration and it truly is hefty and sturdy, but I'm pretty impressed

You know, I originally got this more for decoration and it truly is hefty and sturdy, but I'm pretty impressed with the functionality of it. It sounds quite good. It isn't very easy to dial (this from a generation who touches a familiar face on a phone and it dials them), but that doesn't actually matter to me. For those without a landlines, I needed one for power outages and this is not only great for that, but a great thing to display. Very steampunkish.

It's a fine looking replica
by Timerus (4 out of 5 stars)

It is what it is - a replica of an old phone. It doesn't have an actual rotary dial, as is appropriately disclosed in its product description. It has a lot of plastic parts. However, I use it entirely for office decor, not functionality, so it works fine. For those folks worried about the black plastic handle separating the receiver and speaker, I would suggest wrapping that part with a small leather strap. I gives it that last bit of authentic feel you are looking for. (Remember, it's actually a phone with push buttons, not a rotary dial set up, yes?)

Nice Reproduction Phone
by Brad M. (4 out of 5 stars)

I live in a historic condo building so I bought this as a period correct accent piece. Up close you can easily tell it's a reproduction, but from a couple of feet away it looks pretty authentic (it's true to the listing photos). It's made with a good bit of plastic, but the handset has some heft to it and it feels solid in the hand. For the price it seems like a reasonable value, so I'd recommend it.

LOVE IT....but....
by Firebrandrand (5 out of 5 stars)

Like every other review...I LOVE the phone which generates tons of compliments, but would have GLADLY paid extra for more metal parts. Also agree with others that the ring could have had some more authentic options but I edited my original review because I it's growing on me more all the time. It's a total hit with the kids and grandkids who like to call it with their cells just so they can talk on it. It was well worth the money.

Happy Campers!

We do not have a land line yet, so we can't say how well it works, however, it is a beautiful replica type phone. It makes a great addition to the other old phones we have. My son has a Steampunk heart, and he was WOW'ed! It may end up being one of those phones that sneaks off to his library, and sneaks back to Mom's Retreat... Phones can be funny that way.

Beautiful Replica
by DoggieMommie (5 out of 5 stars)

I was looking for a replica late nineteenth-century phone. I fell in love with the design of this one. Some of the other reviewers were complaining that parts of this are made of plastic. It is true. But if the handset had been made of metal, it would be too heavy to lift. I am OK with this phone being part metal, part plastic. Some other reviewers complained about the ring. I wish the ring had been the sound of the bells. But if it was, it would probably be way too loud. Overall this is a gorgeous replica piece and it is priced appropriately. And this phone functions as a phone very well. Even if I ever decide to ditch my landline, this phone makes a wonderful decorative accent.
