Great Little Backpack

I bought this not expecting to be able to use it as a backpack because of previous reviews I read. This is not the case, the pocket for storing things takes up the entire yellow portion of the shell, I measured it and it's about 12 inches long by 12 inches wide. The big problem is that the shell is overstuffed, so the pocket is barely deep enough for a thin book. This was an easy fix for me, I popped open a seam, pulled out some stuffing, and used a hidden stich to sew it closed again. Now the pocket comfortably holds a couple of books.

Something to be warned out, this thing is not very durable, don't buy this expecting your kid to bring it to school, it's for light use. I had to reinforce some seams out of the box because they were pulling apart, and some of the seams are hand sewn with cheap easily breakable thread.

I'm going to add some spikes to make it look like Bowser's shell, and for that it will work perfectly. Do buy this if you want to use it for apperence, don't but this if you want to actually use it for school or something. There are way more durable shell backpacks out there for school and tote purposes!

Poor backpack, great pillow

Had to knock a star off because it's not really a backpack. It has a zipper and a space for some small things but not much. Otherwise it's great for costumes. And if you have to much to drink, it makes a great pillow wherever you happen to fall at a party.

Adorable, yes! Well-made, yes! Soft & plushy, yes! Does my son love it?? Yes, and so does everybody who sees it, kid or adult. As other reviewers stated, the inside zippered pocket is quite small and can't carry much other than keys, a DSi (as my son does), or a very small book. The zippers opening is only 9" and can't stretch to accomodate anything too deep (like a small book less than an inch and a half thick). Despite it's small carrying size, because my son could really care less if it held anything or not, it is a huge hit with him. It is so plushy he sleeps with it like a pillow.

My only complaint about this backpack, and the reason I gave it 4 stars versus 5, is how long the straps are (see pic I uploaded). As you can see from the stock pics, they are just nylon adjustable straps that have a plastic clip to hook them onto the backpack...that clip makes unsnapping the straps from the backpack a breeze (a huge plus for me since my son likes to sleep with it and I don't allow him to sleep with things that could get entangled around his neck). With all that being said, the straps are entirely too long. Me, being 5'4", about 120 lbs, have to wear the backpack with the straps adjusted as small as they can go and it sits perfectly centered on my back. Now, when my normal sized 5 year old wears it in the same shortest adjustment, it hangs right below his buttox. I am going to have to get crafty with my sewing machine and shorten the straps for him to wear this without doing a "cooper-shell-butt-bounce" whenever he walks.

Would I but it again even with the strap problem?? Uh, yes!!! My son is obsessed with King Cooper and Bowser and it is so hard to find things with them on it.

Awesome

This thing is awesome. I wear it when I go cycling so I can put a few things in it and also been visible by traffic. I do notice the shell lines seem to be print-screened on or something like that and that will eventually begin to come off over time. Might just stitch the pattern on once that happens, and it might look better that way too.

Perfect for Mario Lovers

I got this Koopa Shell backpack as a Christmas gift for my fella. He absolutely loves it! He intends to carry his Wii in it, although there isn't much room for anything else. There is very limited space in this backpack as the stuffing for the shell takes up a lot of room. I highly recommend this item for Mario fans, but please know that there is not a lot of space for books, games, or whatever you might intend on toting around with you. Also the straps, as I'm sure you can see, are simply nylon with clips that attach to the Koopa shell.

I bought this as a gift for one of my good friends for Christmas (a 19 year old female). She was big into the raver scene for a while and always wanted a plush backpack, but never got one. She doesn't rave anymore now, but I know she would feel thought of if I got her this, and it was a HUGE SUCCESS.

It shouldn't be called a backpack, more like a pillow with straps and a pocket. The pocket is on the yellow-part of the shell, the part which would be against your back if you were wearing it as a bag. The pocket is 6 inches by 6 inches if I had to guess, and could probably fir something 2-4 inches in depth, so about the size of a wii.

The shell is perfect, IT'S SO FLUFFY! I am now looking for a red one to buy myself.

Good quality product with a high price

Price was high, but the quality is good. I bought this under time constraints,otherwise I would have gone with identical products with a lower price tag and equally good reviews. They've since lowered the price, so I'd guess that this was because of the Prime eligibility and the time remaining till Halloween. Used it for a Halloween costume; the straps disconnect and I now use it as a pillow on the bed. Pocket is small, but some modification could allow it to hold more.

If you're all about wearing this, strictly for looks, then this is a wonderful addition for any Nintendo/Super Mario fan. The shell is more like a wearable plush shell vs. a backpack. While it is true that there is little room to put large items in, there is just enough room for essentials like keys, cash, and ID/license. I plan on wearing this to conventions, so this helps me not have to bring my purse or extra bags along.
