Received a POS Fake

The item shown and described here is not what the Sellers (WholeGeekCatalog) are carrying. I received a complete fake. These folks need to be removed from Amazon for selling fakes. I received an opener that is flat, not imprinted and is merely 3 inches long. This piece of crap is going back at once. Highly disappointing.

I probably overpaid for this item by a few dollars but it is worth it. The opener itself works perfectly. No second or third tries. If you collect caps, it won't damage the cap either.

Some important things to note before buying though:
1. It may come in different packaging from a European company that also licensed the design called BMerch. It is still of the same weight, size, and quality of the Brothers licensed opener.
2. It may come with some dings and imperfections. At least with mine, it has some imperfections that are likely from the mold it was cast in. I'm not super picky and like to think of it as insignificant "battle damage" but this may upset serious collectors.

Pros:
- Works perfectly; opens bottle on first try.
- Doesn't damage bottle caps.
- Is a replica of the NCC-1701 (from The Original Series)

Cons:
- Heavier than usual; made of solid metal.
- Slightly bulky in pocket.
- May be a little costly depending on what sort of pricing you've found on it.

All in all, it's a great product.

The opener I received had no inscription on it, is flat metal and is 3 inches long. The picture shows an opener that is more multi-dimensional and has the NCC inscription and appears to be longer. Too much of a hassle to return. Buyer beware!

This was my flagship bottle opener for a long time. It looks and feels high quality -- it's got some weight behind it and has a surprisingly natural feel in your hand. The molded foam it comes encased in is also a nice touch. I liked it so much that I gifted one to another Trek-loving friend, who was also impressed by it.

Sadly, I had to decommission it after 2-3 years. Though there was no visible wear, the teeth had worn down to the point where it wasn't gripping bottle caps anymore and just didn't function as it should. I didn't think it was possible to love a bottle opener, but I loved this one and was sad when it died on me. If the design was tweaked slightly to prevent this problem, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

I bought this bottle opener for my 21st birthday, and I've been using it ever since. Although not the most portable bottle opener, it is perfect for my coffee table to pop open a beer when I'm relaxing at home. It is a quality product that looks good and feels good in my hand. It is very solid, enough so that even the drunkest of trekkies won't be able to harm it. I also like saving the bottle cap each time I try a new beer, and this particular bottle opener removes the cap without bending or damaging the cap significantly and does so with great ease.

Apparently some reviewers are getting fakes so I'll say I got mine from Whimsical Tales and it is legit. I had this in my wishlist for so long but thought ~$20 for a bottle opener I didn't need was silly but after finally buying it I'm so happy I did. This thing is so cool. Heavy, slick, bigger than I thought it was going to be. Right now its just on my computer desk as a toy rather than the kitchen as a bottle opener. I should mention I just got it today so, yeah short term review.

I just noticed it also comes in gold now so pick which you want.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. I assumed it would be silver and did not open the package before giving it to him. We were both surprised to see the GOLD bottle opener when he opened the package. I can't find seller information to contact them about the mistake. It's a shame.. it is good quality and a very original bottle opener.

UPDATE: I was able to exchange the gold bottle opener for a silver one. The whole exchange took less than a week. My husband is much happier with this.

I bought this for a huge Star Trek fan and am disappointed and almost embarrassed to give it to him. It is way shorter than I was expecting (I guess I should have searched for other photographs, as there were no dimensions given in the description...)

If it was just the length that was off, I would have been okay with that BUT....

I got an opener that was NOT engraved and that is thinner/cheep feeling. In a lot of the comments, people had noted that this product was "heavy feeling", like it was a good product. I am not feeling that same weight.

Regardless, the fact that it is not engraved is the WORST part of it all..... At this point, it would probably take too long to return it/receive a replacement prior to Christmas, as i'm sure shipping is 8 days each way.

There is some negitive reviews on this opener being black on no ncc on top but mine was just as pictured, good size and heavy. A great item for the star trek nerd. My best advise is to use the main body for leverage on your cap and not the warp cells,
