Ok as a gift item but not a good value for regular use
by Mr. P Enterprises (3 out of 5 stars)

These are ok. I purchased for my toddler thinking they were going to be much larger, solid (they are hollow), and more egg-shaped for easier coloring with his tiny hands. My bad for not looking at all the pictures closely or paying much attention to the description. Cute idea for a gift but not a good value for regular use. I won't be returning them because now I have a toddler who is in love with his "magic rocks" but I wouldn't buy them again.

these are so fun and very good for helping kids develop grasping skills and fine motor coordination. regular crayons can be a little thin for small hands to grasp and these fit nicely into little hands. They also come in a neat felt bag, so it looks like a little treasure bag for your child. My kids also love to load these into their toy dump trucks and drive them around and unload and re-load them. Lots of fun with these crayon rocks. I have a younger child (12 months) that we have to watch carefully with these- they look to her, like they would be fun to eat, so we have to watch her closely if we have them out.

AT THE SECOND TRACE GOT BROKEN. NICE IDEA BAD QUALITY. NO DURABLE AT ALL.

Disappointed!

The colors look very nice, very soft at touch and th red velvet bag is cute BUT they got broken in one moment. I don't know if maybe I got a bad batch of rocks of what but my son used it to trace a line twice and got broken. I thought maybe my son was little rough on it. I tried to color a little drawing in a very delicate way and got broken again! The little pieces are really TINY so we cannot use the crayons anymore! BAD QUALITY. I trusted on the reviews and that is why I bought them. BAD

I love the idea of these Crayon Rocks and thought they ...
by Sandra (2 out of 5 stars)

I love the idea of these Crayon Rocks and thought they were very cute and purchased them based on the photos of the kids for my toddler granddaughter and they came in a nice red velvet bag that was very neatly packaged in a nice box with pretty Spring tissue paper making it a very nice gift to open. However, even though the description gives the size of these, the pictures of the children holding them still makes them look larger than they really are. They are very small and not suitable for toddlers at all. Also not shown in the picture is the underside which is indented so they are not as solid as they appear either. To further my disappointment when I opened the bag they looked like they had already been knocked together quite a bit because a few of the colors had been marked up by the darker colors so they didn't look "clean" and pristine and "brand new" as they do in the photos but instead looked dirty like used crayons even though you could tell they were not used. They are very cute but I think they are more suited as a novelty gift for an older person or a teenager that loves to color and not worth the money they cost. I'm still trying to decide if it is worth paying for the shipping to send them back.

Fun spin on crayons!

These were a stocking stuffer for my 2.5 year old. She has developed the bad habit of eating traditional crayons...after peeling off the paper and leaving a million tiny flakes of it scattered on the rug. But she loves to color so I decided to give these a try. They are perfect. The rock shapes are easy for her little hands to hold and the colors are bright and smooth. She loves the red velvet bag and even puts them away most of the time! My cousin, who is a kindergarten teacher, saw her coloring with them and was impressed by how they encourage her to hold them with the proper grip. She is planning to buy a few bags for her classroom to help the kids develop a proper grip for writing. I did find a few tiny teeth marks in the pink one, but overall they have been a hit!

Cool, novelty

Cool, novelty, nice gift for my nephew who I am sure will enjoy the different surfaces of the pebbles for making different kinds of lines.

I have to admit - there was a moment when I took them out of the box and looked in the (very cool) bag and thought - I just bought some small chunks of crayon. But he likes them and I know they would have seemed magical to me as a kid.

Beautiful Colors but Too Small for a Three Year Old
by motherofamermaid (3 out of 5 stars)
January 27, 2018

Wow, are these small! Amazon's product information says they are not for children under three, but I am wary of my almost 4-year-old using them. They appear to be perfect choking size so she will not be using them without direct supervision, which is the opposite of what I want when she is coloring. I like to set her up with crayons and get some cleaning or work done while she's busy. The crayon rocks are currently tucked away until I know there is no chance she'll put them in her mouth. The bag and colors are beautiful.

cute for toddlers with an odd "draw"back
by K pawlz (3 out of 5 stars)

The crayons themselves are a little small, but my son seems to be having no problem with their size (he's 3). My only real quell with them is there smell. Now i have purchased regular and natural crayons and never had something with such an odd smell. My son really enjoys them and the bag they come in so all in all it is a hit but would be big miss for someone sensitive with scents.

Smaller than expected but still nice
by Sarah (4 out of 5 stars)

These are really nice and I like that they come with 16 different colors. I was just surprised to see how small they are. They probably need to be small for helping with the tripod grip but I was just expecting them to be a little bigger. They color nicely though and my girl really likes their interesting shape.

In the photo I placed a crayon rock next to a sharpie and one of our Honeysticks crayons (which are already pretty short).

Teach Your Boy Some Dexterity and Fine Motor Skills
by Sebass (5 out of 5 stars)
December 26, 2012

My son is 3 as of this review. Yes this looks like candy (kind of) but he clearly knows it is a crayon set and won't attempt to eat these. So for those reviewers or consumers concerned, don't be. Unless your kid is too young where you would have to worry.

Now to the substance...I bought these for a stocking stuffer because I wanted him to learn how to hold a pen/pencil/etc. Boys develop there fine motor skills later in life. As soon as he picked one of these up he was holding it naturally. Not the closed fist that those with young boys are used to seeing. So these are a keeper. Have no idea how long they will last, but they look solid, I find it almost impossible to think these would break like normal crayons and the colors are rich and vibrant.

For the purpose of why I bought them, these are perfect.
