Product Description
50,000 Volts That's what you get with this tesla coil!! Brand new, commercial item, great for classroom demonstrations and experiments. The 50,000 volt capacity generator radiates high frequency energy through space... enough to light fluorescent tubes two feet away. It uses 115 VAC (60 Hz) with an electro-magnetically operated interrupter buzzer, high voltage capacitors, inductive coil transformer, and a monopolar high frequency transformer generator to do the trick. 11" high, with a 6" sq. x 2" high protective housing for the generator. It was as advertised, 1/2" spark, or a litter longer.

Wow! What a great science demonstration. The coil sparks, transmits energy across space, lights incandescent and fluorescent bulbs at a distance (or with only one wire). Tesla's theories were obviously correct. Cheapest and most reliable kit coil on the market.

It worked just fine for a demonstration/lecture I gave on Tesla. Its small size makes it very portable.

It claims 50,000 volts. Well, we tested it and the most we got is 27,000. Seller should tell that he meant peak-to-peak voltage in advance.
It is disappointing at best. It struggles to make a tiny spark

While I do not own this "Tesla coil", I have seen it in operation at events. It is disappointing at best. It struggles to make a tiny spark. It lights fluorescent tubes only when they are held very close. It is such low power that it barely makes your finger tingle, yet I've had a science teacher screech at me not to touch it anyway, as I was "setting a bad example for the children." This is the problem with science education in America. But I digress.
This device might be a moderately acceptable novelty for $50, but it is NOT worth the listed price.
Needs to be plugged in.

I was hoping that since this was a TESLA coil that it wouldn't need to be plugged into Electricity to get it to work, but it does. The spark it pretty neat to see and it's good for experiments but I would have been better off looking for something else for my needs.
