Heavenly seduction: with its striking form, the ""Eve"" carafe is reminiscent of a snake and not unintentionally of heavenly seduction. With Eve, the designer actually created the first hand-made decanter with dual chamber function, ensuring that the wine is perfectly aerated and served in the right quantity. Once again, RIEDEL demonstrated its pioneering role in design and functionality. Rotated once on its own axis, the wine flows through the first chamber, undergoing optimum aeration before the ideal quantity reaches the second chamber, making the act of serving wine not just a pleasurable experience but also an easy one. WARNING: Bottle Cleaner pearls are not suitable for this decanter!

Visually stunning, great for young wine

Riedel is on a mission to change how we think of decanting. The Boa is part of their line for young wines, they dont say that, but if you watch their videos, and read the site, they talk about it a lot. They say a young wine needs a long time in a decanter to properly open. The theory here is the curves and a fast pour will help introduce air into the wine. They have succeeded with this idea, the curves help slosh the wine around, and the final drop adds another level of agitation. This really helps younger wines open quicker, saving possible hours of waiting.

Physically the glass is heavy and seems robust when compared their other decanters. The main draw back is cleaning, mine stays spotted form water deposits, its not a big deal, but you wont be using this thing back to back as it takes hours to totally dry.

I would not recommend the Boa for a drinker of very old very subtle wines, the violence this design makes would be to much for something so delicate.

Let face it, you could decant wine in a bowl if you had to, since you're here you are either serious about wine, or just have to much money to burn. The design of the Mamba is both art and function. When you pour the wine, the long neck design swirls and aerates it. Your wine is ready much faster, and it makes for a very impressive display when done in front of your guest. The tail, is the handle, and pouring is simple, just take is slow the first few times, you can get an air bubble.

The draw back is pretty obvious, cleaning and drying this thing is not easy. I normally set it on different sides for an hour each to let water pool and slowly work to towards the neck.

This decanter is unique and beautiful. We haven't actually used it yet - it's a bit intimidating since it comes with a "How to" video, but it is a wonderful piece of art until we do actually use it. It's also a beautiful conversation piece.

Cleaning it will be a challenge, but the video gives you hints on that too. I'm really looking forward to using it!
