Perfectly spherical globes of meat absorbing the smoke and slight char of a grill without cooking unevenly or coming out looking all catawampus. On earth, it cannot exist. This must be what awaits me, along with circa... [Read more]

Extremely sturdy

This is a heavy duty fish basket and I've tried many. Nice material and very easy to clean. The only problem I have is that the grates aren't flexible so it tends to crush thicker fish. Even with this flaw it is still by far the best fish basket I've used, it easily keeps the skin intact, especially if you oil the basket or the fish first.

Almost but not quite

Really good except the handle is hard to control with a heavy load in the basket. Compared to a same-dimension version with black wire and a fat rolled steel handle, this one loses. Still, much better than whatever holds third place.

Not just for meatballs any more, give shrimp a try!
by Travels A LOT (5 out of 5 stars)

Maiden use was with a bag of 16/24 size shrimp, must have been a bit smaller, ended up with 30. Cleaned and shelled the shrimp, seasoned well with a favorite seafood seasoning, put 2 shrimp in each "pocket"' put the extras in the center areas between the pockets, out on the grill they went. No more trying to skewer or chasing the shrimp around the grill... Turned out quite tasty, made some killer wraps. I do agree with the reviewer who needed to make a lot of meatballs, not a tool to use to prep for a crowd. Clean up wasn't too bad, put it into a hot soapy soak in the sink, took a brush to both sides of each half about 10-15 minutes later.

While we have not used the basket yet, my husband was excited to have the choice of extra depth for grilling larger items or making the basket thinner for smaller items. I would have given this a higher rating except for the manufacturing flaw in the handle. The first one we received had a good sized chip in the bottom side of the handle running up the side. This was quickly replaced without any problems except the new one had the same chip in the handle it was just stained so not as noticeable. We decided just to keep it but are disappointed that the chip problem was apparently not just a one time flaw.

This is absolutely awesome!! Easily fits thick filets (ahi, swordfish, halibut) with ease. Great clearance so you don't ruin the handle while its grilling. I also love that it isn't overly high clearance wise when its closed and loaded. Great product!

Good but HUGE
by Jason E. Smith (4 out of 5 stars)

I frequently use this basket for grilling salmon, a fish famous for falling apart on the grill. It does a tremendous job of keeping it intact, and the fish comes off the basket at serving time with minimal issues. I do spray it with PAM before use.

The only real downside is that the basket is HUGE. It fits 3lbs of salmon (enough for 6-7). It's so large that it takes up 80% of my Weber 22-inch charcoal grill leaving BARELY enough space to fit six corn cobs. You'll want a smaller basket if you're cooking for 2-4.

Cleaning is not easy, but this is a grilling tool -- it doesn't need to be spotless.

It's a little wigglie

Sturdy. BIG. Nice long handle. But the connection on the end...to keep the two sides together...isn't tight enough to keep the sides lined up. Have to be really careful till you secure the oval link on the handle...otherwise it slides all over the place.

Grill Basket

I searched high and low for this basket, or at least one that served a particular purpose. The basket I was searching for was one that could be used to grill fairly thin items, and hold them together, like grilling ground sausage for a soup recipe I had. The recipe called for "an asian meat grilling basket" but I couldn't find one. This basket serves that purpose and yet, is adjustable, so it can hold food items that are fairly thin to food items as thick as a thick steak. For me, it totally serves the purpose it was intended for.

Great Product, Less Fall Thru than Competitors
by Jodi M Larson (4 out of 5 stars)

Nice product, sturdily built, closer mesh than competitors to prevent fall through of the uncooked meat. Works great, made of quality material. I wish this had come with a recipe book, but you can play with your own seasonings (try putting a cube of cheese in the middle). I gave this 4/5 stars because it is very difficult to clean. Like most non-stick products, remember to add cooking spray or olive oil before the fillings, but either way, you will still be picking charred bits off of the grate. Also, a little FYI, the wooden part of the handle is small, so don't depend on it being cool when you go to pick it up off the grill!

Handle with care!
by Spartacus (3 out of 5 stars)

Handle with care. 2 tines broke off after barbecuing salmon. Also, it was hard to contain the fish, without it's slipping through the sides. We ordered a second one to see if this was atypical, and so far so good.
