Can be mounted to anything. My Tactical Stapler is proof.
by Jeremy (5 out of 5 stars)
March 6, 2019

I needed a way to set "my" stapler apart to discourage office thievery. Figured a few decades worth of experience dealing with black things that go bang with the US Army could lend an idea. It did. Behold! The prototype experimental "Tactical Stapler". Now I can mount sights, grips, bipods, slings, and lights professionally to enhance my stapling duties.

I love Magpul stuff. By and large it is the best bang for the buck in the tactical customization world (pun intended). To be honest if I were in the market for a piece of rail, this is the first product I'd consider, regardless of price. I read through a lot of questions. Most are "Can I mount it to _______?". The answer? Yes. Yes you can. You can put rail on anything your imagination desires if you're willing to improvise a bit. It'll require some planning, fabrication, and thought, but it can be done.

MOE is not MLOK; Item description is incomplete
by TD (5 out of 5 stars)
May 11, 2019

I thought this was bootleg MLOK hardware and that MOE was simply a rail design style from Magpul. I emailed Magpul after this rail wouldn't fit my MLOK stock and they explained that MOE is a whole different mounting standard than MLOK that's not meant to be interchangeable. There's 2 sides to this, one of them is obviously being an informed buyer, but Amazon should add a line to the item description that say that this is definitely NOT MLOK COMPATIBLE.

M-LOK has become a joke
by Willie V. Hughes,Top Contributor: Photography (1 out of 5 stars)
December 28, 2018

I'm not that old (yet), but I remember when Weaver rails were all the rage. Then Picatinny rails came along and into wide use in the mid-1990s. Then came KeyMod came along. Then M-LOK became all the rage. I wish we could just go back to Picatinny. Yes, it's heavier. But it remains universal.

M-LOK is no longer a uniform and universal mounting system. Not even the manufacturer of the M-LOK system (MagPul) is keeping things consistent and straight.

These polymer rails do not fit all M-LOK handguards. I tried them on two different M-LOK handguards for two different rifles and they wouldn't work. They take up more than two M-LOK spaces, but not quite three. So you get to mount in the middle of a long space and have play on both sides. Not good. Also, the "nuts" that come with the rail (stamped, flat, TicTac-shaped strips of metal that have been threaded) are not the standard, machined T-Nuts that are supposed to come with M-LOK accessories. The nuts are too wide and cannot even me inserted into the M-LOK holes or slots. They're much larger and therefore do not fit in typical M-LOK systems. Even if you were to come at it from the inside (e.g. I considered sliding the nuts into the handguard, inserting the bolts from the outside, and then tightening to clamp), the nuts are not only too wide but too long. Therefore, if you're handguard is curved on the bottom (most are, few are flat), you aren't going to be able to to claim down flush (unless you bend the nuts/metal strips).

To add insult to injury, Amazon won't allow returns if these don't work for you.

Be very, very careful ordering these and make sure in advance they will work with your application. They are not universal and standard M-LOK. They are something else. Which defeats the entire purpose of M-LOK. It's like a bizarro world when MagPul decides that 1mm is really 1.3mm, and 1-inch is really .87-inches.

This was perfect for adding a rail on stock Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport 2 Handguard.I used this for mounting a bipod. This would also work for the top of the handguard.

Works great with MOE furniture but installation is inconvenient
by M. Hadden (4 out of 5 stars)

If you have ever had Magpul equipment, you know its some quality stuff. This item is no different. Well made (for plastic). However, to install, you have to remove the MOE handgaurd to install - kind of inconvenient considering other items, like its handgrips. It would be nice if they'd use those "T" bits rather than generic tabs to install the picatinny rail. Otherwise, great product and will work great as advertised.

Excellent Product

This fit the need perfectly. I was looking to have a small rail section for a bi-pod mount for some zeroing work. Fits the M4 handguard on the Ruger Ar556 just fine. Normally I like and aluminum rail but this is a very sturdy and strong polymer piece and well worth the price. Don't let anyone tell you with the M4 handguard you need to buy new hand guards, quad rails, etc....get this. Much smaller, much cheaper, and much cleaner.

Junk
by Phil C67 (1 out of 5 stars)
September 10, 2019

I'm big Magpul user own many of their products finding this one to be complete junk.

Polymer rail section for bipod use is no go.

It will eventually give - become loose fastener tighten will be needed further exposing bolt thread to barrel area.

After discovering products fault I tried to return for refund or credit.

Unfortunately , Shipped & Sold by Amazon doesn't except return for this product.

Needless to say , I was very disappointed 30 day return wasn't available , Amazon directed me to Magpul website for CS.

Anyway item will go in trash lessons learned.

Buy items such as these from local retailer & stay away from polymer rail sections.

Excellent accessory rail
by keith (5 out of 5 stars)

This rail is nothing short of excellent. I can only assume the same for all the sizes. It's expensive IMHO since you can get a pack of rails, plastic or aluminum, for 20 bux from other sources. However this one comes with bolts and fasteners. They work great, I attached 2 rails to my Mini 14, so I didn't even use the MOE hand guard they were designed for. The plastic is strong and the rail is slightly fatter than the aluminum rails I ordered from another manufacturer. This is a very good thing, because I have a laser I bought from a gun show and it's cheap (as most junk from the gun show). The laser is awesome but the mount uses a spring loaded thing, and it wiggles, etc on the aluminum rails but not on these Magpul rails. The fit is snug, allowing me to mount the cheap laser solidly to the mini 14. Luckily theres exactly enough space between the heat shield and the plastic frame of the Mini to allow this rail to mount. The fasteners are low profile stamped steel and are oval. I bought 3 of these and would not hesitate to get more. So go tack on a rail (pun intended).
