Not the craftsmanship you would expect for the price

This little guy was pretty neat looking on Amazon, so I bought it. Then I got it... it came in that ultra cheap Styrofoam that sticks to everything when you take it out of the box, so that was gripe #1. This thing is made out of what feels like the crappiest pewter in the world, like it just feels gross, so gripe #2. The mounting bracket is a joke, it is something you would expect to find on a picture frame, not a fixture getting tugged on every day, so gripe #3. The little pegs on the outsides of the claws are only sunk into the holder about 1 centimeter and they are not snug, so they fall off at whim. so yeah.... that was my 4th and final gripe. Pretty crappy product if you ask me. If I would have paid 5$ for it, then it would have 5 stars... but I think I paid like.... 38$. Not cool.

I was excited about buying this for our basement bathroom, but it has fallen short of expectations. The biggest drawback is that it hangs like a picture, so it moves around if you don't use one hand just to stabilize it when using. Naturally, guests don't know this, and as a consequence, it has fallen twice now, and both arms have broken off. The second downfall is the size. It is so big, it is downright creepy looking next to a toilet. One reviewer states that this product is made out of metal-not true at all- it is made out of resin and easily broken. I do like the antique look of it and all the detail and coloring. I now plan on using it as a hand towel holder instead, just as soon as the glue dries from the latest repair. With all it's drawbacks, plus it's hefty price, it is not worth the novelty factor.

Good quality, fun, but it's pretty darned big

I gave this as a holiday present to a friend who loves anything in a "horror" motif. It certainly was a hit: She laughed aloud when she opened the box.

Gag gifts like this often are poorly made. Sometimes that's okay but not for something that'll get daily use. However, I've had excellent experiences with Design Toscano, and this is no exception. The construction is sturdy.

The only caveat is that it is BIG. Not every bathroom can handle something that's 5.9"x11"x14". It's too big for my friend's small bathroom, for instance. I offered to take it back and get her something else but she assured me emphatically that she would find another purpose for it. The spot meant for a toilet paper roll certainly could hold something else, not the least of which is a hand towel.

So do measure the space before you order this!

I mounted the dragon on a shield shaped piece of plywood, and it nicely covered the hole of the old TP holder. A piece of double sticky foam tape along the lower back side took care of the looseness from only one screw holding it.

I like this item very much, the picture was a little deceiving as when I received the item it was larger than I expected, however this was not a negative for me. Also this does not mount like a standard tissue holder IE: mount/screws. This item hangs like a picture (it has a hole in the back of the head in the shape of a nesting doll), again for me not a downfall. Also the on pictured is much more sliver than the one I received, the one I received was dark, ebony/bronze looking with a white roller (which I promptly replace with a bronze one for less than $2). Again not a downfall but I figured i'd provide as much information as possible.

Commode Dragon Tyrant Bath Tissue Holder ; looks great, decently made dragon, but slightly lacking TP rod. the Rod does not fit tightly and cat induced momentum will spin it right off, sigh. It was a little bigger then i had planned on too.
12.5" wide (wing to wingtip); 10.5" tall (horns to base; just under 2.5" depth( back to dragon knuckle)

I am not returning it, i like it too much.

I used wood filler to thicken the roller plug to make a tighter fit (pliers delicately on the metal tube would likely have worked too, or a single strip of thick tape.

Until I get a bigger bathroom it hangs in my sons room so he does not have to get up at nigh to blow his nose ;-). i may have to buy a 2nd one when i get a bigger bathroom as a result

This toilet paper holder is pretty nice. Only two complaints: first, removing the ends of the rod to change the paper is an exercise in frustration - it's simultaneously too loose and too tight - don't ask me how. But eventually it goes together again and holds the paper fine. Second, if you're going to replace a standard cut-a-hole-in-the-drywall paper holder, you'll find that this dragon does not completely cover the hole. I'm not sure of a good solution to this, as I don't want to patch up the hole in case I ever need to put the standard one back.

Aside from those two nit picks, this is a really enjoyable addition to a medieval-themed bathroom. Or if you just like dragons.

It's HUGE!!!!!

My husband bought this and decided to place it in our master bathroom, right next to the toilet, obviously. I can't count how many times I've hit my elbow on this thing in the middle of the night. Finally this morning I removed it from the wall, which prompted my review.

On a side not, the quality is not that great. It's pretty much plastic, ok, hard plastic, and it's more of a black metal color than what is pictured here. Save yourself the money, and bruises...

Love this toilet paper holder, it's very cool and well made. Minus a star because there is only one way to mount via an opening on the back of the head for one nail or screw, so does not mount as securely as I'd like. Also, changing the roll is not that easy. Still a nice conversation piece and I'm happy with the purchase.

Bigger than I though

This is larger than I realized, but wonderfully detailed and easy to mount (two screw slots on the back of the shoulders). I love it even more than my wife hates it. Well worth the two nights I spent on the couch for swapping it into our master bathroom.
