GREAT SABER for the PRICE!!!
by Marty (5 out of 5 stars)
December 29, 2017

This not a Master Replica's style saber, so don't get it twisted, If you want a MR you will pay much more than the amount you'll pay for the FX but Personally I think Force FX does the best when it comes to Lightsabers. The light imitates powering on and off of the saber by going up and down when turning on and off. The sound affects are realistic when its on and has the hitting sound whenever you bump on something and a Hum when the blade is idled. Also, the Saber will automatically turn itself off when its Idled to long, I guess that's a power saving thing.

I actually have the Anakan, Luke Skywalker, and both sides of the Darth Maul Saber. Another good feature is you can take the saber off and wear the hilt around your sash if your cosplaying as a Jedi. The ones I've seen at the conventions are nice, but if you want to have the realistic sounds and the way the saber turns on and off then this is the route to go. I don't recommend this for dueling, cause you will damage the LED lights. I swing it around, tap it on a few things just to hear the clashing sound, but that's the extent of it.

I would say the weight of the Saber is about 2-3 pounds, and its about 33 inches long, the Hilt is about 11 inches. The Batteries go into the hilt and the sound board comes from the Hilt location as well. It also comes with a stand to mount it on. Not bad when it comes to the authenticity of the design but as I mentioned earlier this is not a MR, and you aren't paying MR prices. I definitely recommend this for any Star Wars fan, By God who doesn't want there own Lightsaber at home to swing around. May the Force Be with you!!

The Force is Strong with this Replica!!!!

Simply put, if your a Star Wars fan with a preference for any type of Lightsaber, you'll be thrilled with this. This is my fourth Lightsaber and it didn't disappoint. I was a little wary buying this Hasbro replica, especially since my others were produced by Master Replica and seem to be preferred, but these are just as good if not better. I love my Yoda Fx Lightsaber but handle is tiny (because it's made for Yoda which does have it's pros like your able to wield effortlessly with one hand) but this Obi Wan has a more robust feel. You can hold it firmly with both hands and I prefer the blue blade which in my opinion is a big more conspicuous than the green. The detachable blade is the best part, which wasn't offered with the Yoda version and the addition of the belt clip is makes it perfect for cos play or Halloween. It can even be displayed without the blade on the base which highlights the aesthetic of the sculpt. All in all, a great buy which I was able to snag for under a hundred bucks which included tax and S+H.

My very first lightsaber and it was all worth my hard-earned money!!!

Like all of those who purchased before me and were awed by Lord Vader's Force FX Lightsaber, I have to admit that I was awe struck, as well. I had it delivered to my work place and I couldn't resist opening the box immediately. This is my very first lightsaber replica and I chose Darth Vader's. Carefully removing the plastic wrapping, I immediately felt its weight as I gripped the handle. Very realistic, indeed. I ran to our supply room and immediately grabbed 3 AAA batteries and slid it in, at the bottom of the hilt..Upon hearing the very audible power up sound and seeing the blade glow red, I knew this was worth the money I've saved up just to get this piece of Star Wars history. From the humming to the crackling sound, almost everything is captured perfectly! The humming sound tends to lag a bit while waving the sword but it is forgivable. Overall, I highly recommend this to everyone. More so if you are a fan of the acclaimed series..GO AND GRAB ONE and you won't be disappointed.

The price gap is strong with this one, hah.

I remember when I bought this exact saber for $129.99 with free shipping like, 3 years ago. And you could find plenty of these force fx sabers here on amazon close to that price range. Hah. Oh how the times have changed..

But seriously if you're willing to pay the price, I recommend these sabers. They're made of metal and feel like a legitimate lightsaber, they just look cool as hell and you can really feel like part of the Jedi Order. I don't suggest dueling with them though, the LED lights run through the length of the blade so dueling could give your saber the dreaded "dark spots" lightsaber enthusiasts talk about on forums and the internet. Another con is the belt clip, it's pretty cheap. But lets be honest, who cares about that enough to not buy one of these? When your batteries are weak, you'll notice a significant dimming of your blade, dark spots, flickering, etc. No big deal, just pop in some fresh batteries and you're good to go. Only other con with this saber is the gold paint on the activation switch is likely to wear off over time and use, underneath is just a not-so-flattering yellow color, if that happens I'd just paint over it.

One last thing about the Anakin saber in particular, take extra care with aligning the blade properly when inserting it into the hilt, that can loosen it's housing in the hilt and cause problems. I don't know why but the Anakin's saber doesn't have a very solid construction with the blade inserted compared to the Obi or Vader sabers either. The Anakin's blade is held in by just a threaded pin that goes through the hilt and the blade, after a while this construction can become loose or the threads can wear, so when you swing the blade is has a connection problem mid-swing. Compare that with the Vader, Obi or Kit Fisto removable blade sabers which all have a ring that you slide down those blades, to the hilt then screw it on giving them a really sturdy, natural feel and I haven't had a single problem with any of those that have that method of blade fastening. Watch some review videos on Youtube to get what I'm talking about.

In short, if you're purchasing the Hasbro Anakin Skywalker Force FX lightsaber with a removable blade, just take extra care of it to prevent it from getting any problems with the blade connection. I wouldn't screw around with it too much, keep it mainly for display purposes and still-shots, they look cool and real as hell in pictures and videos. One of the other removable blade sabers like Vader's would be way better for swing around and such.

Solid and heavy, just the way Vader likes it
by charlesnarles (4 out of 5 stars)

Better-looking blade than others especially in daylight; red LEDs are borderline infrared making them harder to focus upon (for most people, men especially), so the dark spots are actually less noticeable to me even tho blue and green LEDs are technically brighter. Hilt is accurately detailed for ANH (shorter grips, no wires in oval holes) and is much heavier than others which feels nice and "realistic" in your hand. 6 rubber grips on chromed metal with gloss plastic activation clamp and accurately textured plastic emitter shroud. Blade is securely fastened by a long base and ring that screws-on over the blade to keep it in place. I'm surprised that I like Vader's more than Luke's because I love the iconic Graflex aesthetic, but the weight of Vader's goes perfectly with his heavy, one-handed Djem So saber style. The sound font has the menacingly slow extension noise from ESB, clashes from ANH, and a lower-frequency idle, though the idle has an odd and noticeable swoosh that repeats every 7 seconds or so, unlike others in the series. No complainants about Vader's other than the idle. Having many is way more fun than having just one. Still wish they were resilient enough for dueling, but can't beat the price ($125ish "a long time ago") for such nice hilts with LED chain-illuminated removable blades and quality sound boards.

Pretty happy with my Kit Fisto
by BShooSHoo (4 out of 5 stars)
October 2, 2014

After watching videos and reading reviews out the wazoo, I finally pulled the trigger on one of these signature series removable blade bad boys.
1. Was well packaged. The retail box was inside a box and that box was also inside a box. 3 boxes and was factory sealed.
2. I chose the Kit Fisto for the green blade.
3. After placing batteries in the hilt I fired it up and there were no issues with the blade. It lit up evenly with the exception of the last 10 inches or so. I could see the segments of the individual LEDs in the end of the blade more than I could the first few feet. Not a big deal, and was not noticeable in the dark.
4. The sound was acceptable. The effects sounded pretty good to my ear, although a little more volume would be nice.
5. Motion sensor was my biggest gripe. As mentioned in a lot of other reviews, it didn't register side to side or up and down tilts very well. I'm sure I will eventually figure out what triggers the sensor and concentrate on those types of movements, but for the $ this should not be as much of an issue as it is.
6. Removing and replacing the blade was pretty easy. I like what they did here. When the blade is mounted, I had no sense that it was wobbly, loose or not secure.
7. the belt clip is nice. Does what it's supposed to.

All in all, I like the saber and am not experiencing buyers remorse. I just wish the sound was a little louder and that the motion sensor system was more accurate.

Sabers of the Sith!
by Tere Mateora Ngarua (4 out of 5 stars)
February 14, 2015

Almost every comment here about the Darth Maul SSF FX Lightsaber has covered everything about the aesthetics, electronics, and size of the thing. It is true as some have mentioned, the saber is most impressive.

I bought two of them and when joined together, the weight of the two combined is light enough to wield around. In total, these are my third Maul sabers I've owned, I was gifted a non-removable blade version from a friend which I gave away to my 8yr old son so as a Star Wars fan, so I decided to buy a couple for myself, when I found these removable blade versions, including the Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker non-removable blade versions.

The blades are so easy to remove, just with a twist and unscrewing of the emitter, so one, along with the handy belt clip, can display the blade-less hilt on it's own. One of the more comfortable sabers to hold due to the less raised details which are found on some of the others.

One of my blades have a couple of "fade rings" where the LED's don't completely light up the entire blade with one consistent glow, although hardly noticeable, they are there to the trained eye to detail, so therefore, that's half a star removed.

The customer service is great as Amazon always is and shipping continues to be top service with speed.

Besides the inconsistent glow with one of my sabers, these are a great collectors item and a must for any Star Wars fan.

Jedi I have been waiting for you
by Andrew (4 out of 5 stars)
December 28, 2014

I would love to give this five stars, but four will do. The only reason I wont give it five stars is just because after the sabers are idle for close to a minute they shut off. I would just like the feature to keep it turn on for a display piece if needed. Just a small nit pick. Other than that I love this saber. I bought two back when Amazon had these prices at $90.60, and I don't regret it. Now the only problem with connecting both sabers to create Mauls dual sided saber is that....I have no room to put it! This thing is easily eight feet long. The stand is fine it has a small compartment in the back to place all of the spare items. The saber lights up great, and I let a buddy play with it who I thought would just destroy it, and it held up with him banging his hand on it, and smacking it against a couch. Now I just have them display on my wall near a poster. If you are thinking about getting this light saber it is worth it. I would suggest to shop around, and try to find it under $130.00, but if you can wait like I did. Maybe it'll drop to $90.00 again.

I hope this review helps.

I have to say that I was very hesitant to buy this item from Amazon because they are notorious for being too careful with their packaging and as a collector I want my purchases in mint condition, but since this item is almost completely sold out everywhere I took the risk and I am VERY happy that I did. The item arrived in absolutely mint condition! The box itself looks like it was shipped directly from the factory!

I'm very impressed with my Amazon experience.

As far as the lightsaber itself, it is a wonderful, wonderful item. I'm 36, Return of the Jedi was the first movie I ever saw in theaters and I've been a fan of Star Wars my entire life, and if you had told me when I was 12 that I would one day have a toy that was THIS realistic, I would have probably passed out from the excitement. Here I am, at 36, and having this item brings out the child in me again. It's just an absolutely perfect replica, and probably the coolest piece of Star Wars merchandise I have ever purchased.

If you're a fan, or a parent of a fan, or your significant other is a fan and you want to get them a great gift, you can not go wrong with these lightsabers.

Unbelievable! Wonderful surprise gift!
by The Narrator (5 out of 5 stars)
March 3, 2015

For thirty years my favorite Lightsaber... Yes, I had a favorite Lightsaber far and away... Was Luke's from return of the Jedi.
... Until my wife and kids gave me this one.

Of course I love it because it was a thoughtful sentimental gift from my family, but in addition to that (since I Know that won't matter to the reader) (lol), it is truly a nice design as a saber on its own. I don't really care much about kit fisto as a character one way or the other but whoever designed his saber did a really nice job on it, at least to my taste. All silver, nice shape, just the right amount of lines, minimalistic and sleek.... And with a green blade! Love it!

On top of the elegant simple design, add in exceptional build quality, it being a practically entirely metal hilt, and the vividness of the blade....and it's just fantastic. Even the sound is nice. A really nice tone. I absolutely love it and it is my new all time favorite saber design.... After over thirty years! That's saying something.

Unbelievable!
