Love this model. I got one free at a conference and was heartbroken when I lost it. You have to squeeze the button under the lid for water to come out, and there's a small flip top you can put over the area for your mouth, so you're protected from spills. I never use the key/money/ID clip in the plastic "pouch", but it's a handy feature. These are also super durable. We have tile floors and I'm a klutz. The one I lost survived literally way more than 10 falls and never showed any sign of breaking. When I ordered my replacement, my husband got one too. He's just as happy!

Love the storage, HATE THE LID

I love the idea of this bottle but hate the lid.

The storage compartment is GREAT! I love that it completely removes from the bottle since it does not need to be cleaned like the rest of it. I can just wipe it down or quickly handwash if needed. It also has plenty of room for cards/cash/etc so that I can just take my water bottle in for my kids games or play dates and not worry about grabbing purse and wallet.

Shipped quickly and I feel I got it for a good deal.

THE LID DOES NOT COME APART.

The lid is all one mechanical piece with the auto seal button on top. There are so many tiny parts to the mechanism that will clearly come in contact with my water and germs, yet there is zero possible way to actually scrub it. Too small even for a q tip and there are parts I'm sure I can't even see.

The only thing I can do is wash it really well immediately after every use and let it soak in hot soapy water. The first time I forget to wash this immediately after will make me question its cleanliness for the next use. I am terrible about leaving my drinks in the car so I see this happening quickly and often.

I wish I had done more research before buying because I absolutely would not have chosen this style lid.

Durable and Handy

Edit: The lid's inner contraption lasted 3 years with daily constant use, and finally something snapped inside. It no longer works.

Upgraded from a basic bottle with a rubber handle-loop that I was used to hooking a couple fingers through while I held other stuff. Because of the Contigo's hard plastic handle and awkwardly top-heavy design, I drop this bottle more often. But it's fallen down the stairs a few times and survived (once hot on the heels of my terrified cat,) and so far it still works great. I keep only my ID and other cards inside the compartment.

I bought two of these, one to send as a gift. The button depresses same on both, but opens mine slightly less. At first I was worried that would mean an aggravating trickle of liquid when I try to drink, but it's got great flow. I am completely satisfied with that part.

One improvement I desire is a solid single-piece body that the cap and compartment door attach to. Since you can remove the entire wrap-around container that holds stuff, it requires you to hold the bottle carefully after the lid's off and you're refilling, lest that part slip out of place and make you spill.

While the dust cover protecting the aperture doesn't snap into place, it's still on a snug hinge that resists falling open, even if the bottle's tossed or flailed around.

The hard plastic handle allows 2 or 3 fingers of my medium-size hands and has a little spring-hinged segment to clip your bottle to a strap. So far I haven't, since it's heavier than my old water bottle and not really suitable to hang off my purse or belt. But it'll work fine with my backpack.

These are the best water bottles ever.
1. There is a guard that goes over the mouth piece to protect you from germs
2. Theres a place to put keys, credit cards, cash etc so you don't have to carry a wallet.
3. There's a clip to hook on a belt
4. It fits a standard cup holder
5. It holds 3- 8 ounce glasses of water (24 ounces)
6. It is a non spill bottle. Awesome for kids and car.
7. Recommended because of the heavy non porous plastic and Eco safe too

I dont recommend using this for a sugary drink because the top is hard to clean

I really love this water bottle. There are no leaks from the lid or from the place where you sip. The cover is only there to protect the mouth piece from getting dirty and it opens up pretty easily (some can say too easily). To actually drink there is a button that you push in that opens up the mouth piece and its just the perfect gym bottle. I don't use the storage compartment but if you use a key-lock for your gym locker then it would hold the key for you perfectly. Other than a key, I just dont see anything else that would fit in there except for maybe a very thin wallet but it might get wet from the condensation.

I highly recommend this product. It was actually everything I was looking for for a gym bottle. A warning though: this is not a bottle for runners. It's too heavy for that.

I truly love this water bottle and carry it with me everywhere! The only thing I would change is to maybe make the pouch be a little bigger. Most car key now have a very thick top to them or even and in key, key fob, which really doesn't fit. Otherwise, I have had no problem with this bottle. I also really like that I feel like I can get a full swallow of water without having to such my brains out using the typical straw type water bottle. There is also an air release which means you can completely cover the mouth opening without having to worry about the water stopping its flow. I am so glad that I bought this water bottle.

Perfect for the gym or on the go

I own a red, original 24 oz Contigo Autoseal (two years old) and I have to say, between the two, this one is much better.

I'd advise only using water, or non-carbonated beverages (trust me, I've sprayed myself accidentally with the old one I had) for ease of cleaning, as the mechanism requires a little bit of work to properly clean.

This water bottle is perfect - it holds plenty, is very easy to drink from (one touch), has a wide neck to fit almost any size ice cube into it, and has a nifty little mouth cover to keep the drinking area clean.

The kangaroo compartment is the perfect size for an ID, house key, a credit card, and a receipt or two. It detaches by unscrewing the cap, and simply lifting off, but it stays on very well when the cap is on, so no worries there.

I've dropped my red one and this one several times, and no leaks or cracks at all!

My girlfriend has one, and she loves it too, it's great for walks or the gym. The handle on top folds down flat, and has a clip which is useful for attaching it to backpacks, luggage straps, or even a belt loop (I'd avoid hanging a full one on the belt loop, you might bust the loop!)

All in all, I LOVE this thing and wholeheartedly recommend getting one for each member of the house (preferably in different colors)

I replaced this in 2019, finally, after the autoseal feature lost a bit of suction. I've used this to store my SodaStream carbonated water for ages because it keeps the carbonation for quite a long time - I can put it in the refrigerator overnight and wake up to carbonated water the next day, without needing to refresh the bottle. I love the handle with clip, I love the kangaroo pocket, I love everything about it. And the water bottle I replaced just went up to the lake, it's still functional, just not quite as tight as it used to be. Since I'm a klutz, having something that doesn't spill every time I drop it makes it perfect.

new lid causes problems...

I am a big Contigo fan so when I saw this new one with the kangaroo pocket I bought it! When I saw the new lid design I felt I should leave a review....

Pros:

Mouth cover - A little flap the covers the mouth piece from dirt and grime is an A+ in my book

Kangaroo pocket - the whole reason I bought it and it is great! I use it to store my vitamins for the afternoon. It has a good clasp and stays shut. The pocket is not attached to the bottle so you can take the lid off and remove the pocket to wash under it.

Cons:

Kangaroo pocket: It isn't attached so when you go to fill your bottle if you don't hold it the right way it slips off and your bottle falls. It has taken some getting use to in holding it the right way so it doesn't happen.

Handle/hook: When I saw that the new handle is built into the lid so you can pop it up or down as you wish, I was really excited. In the end I find it a con. You can't leave it up to drink with or it hits you in the nose, and not having a handle to grab on the go is something I miss + it is small and my awkward to grab/hold. The opening on the handle (I call it the hook) is SO small compared to the other lid design it is rather useless and I can not longer hook it on - backpack, purse strap etc.

The BIG con and the reason I gave it 3 stars:

It is VERY top heavy! It the bottle isn't 1/2 full it is toppling over with the slightest nudge or bump to the table. I really feel it is the new design to the lid and because of the constant drops and toppling over, I don't think I will get the life out of it as I have my other Contigos.

I really wanted to like this water bottle more than I do. It is great that I can store my gym card and ID inside, but will definitely not hold my car key. My main problem with this water bottle is that the lid cannot be pulled apart to wash it. After seeing all of the pictures of other water bottle lids with mildew and nasty germs being stuck inside, I really would like the ability to take the lid apart to wash it. Other than that, it is what it is...a water bottle that does not leak and holds SOME of my necessities in the compartment.
