Great training tool
by Crystal A. (5 out of 5 stars)
December 29, 2016

This is a training tool and it worked great for my dog. He is well behaved but has an annoying "constant pull" on walks. He is sensitive to sounds so this device gets his attention right away when he pulls. We did 2 training sessions of rewarding him for returning to me when he heard the sound and now he walks with a loose leash. As a note this thing is HUGE and clunky. I decided not to attach it to his collar because it bangs against his shoulder when he walks (he is a 45# pit mix so this would be massive for a small or medium sized dog), instead I attached it too my belt loop and looped the leash to it so he has a few feet of leash and if he pulls it will trigger the device but when he walks nicely it just hangs from my belt (I keep the end of the leash in hand just incase the belt loop broke). I don't think this would work if you just clipped it on and went, I think it does need a few sessions to teach the dog what to do when they hear the sound. It has been a lovely tool for us. Just wish they could make it smaller/lighter.

My Dogs hear it fine

Just got it,....very difficult to put in the battery, had to take the back off and access the nut inside as the small screw was stripped immediately. Anyway, got the battery in. Have a Black Lab and an Aussie Shepherd, both pups. They play all day but can get a bit carried away. Neither is very good yet on a leash. When I turned the unit on an noodled around with it the Aussie ran out of the room and the Lab did no like it. They both heard it but the Shepherd was really discomforted. Anxious to try it on a walk. But if the question is do dogs hear the sound....mine do, very, very well.

Not effective

My Lab noticed the sound but ignored it. Trying to return with no luck. These ultrasonic devices are almost never effective.

Can They Hear The Tone???

Not effective with my Red Healer. My baby just kept getting distracted by everything. Tried every setting available. Sometimes I feel she hears the tone but she continues to pull.

Not magic, but it helped.

A product like this will largely depend on your dog. My dog is a chocolate lab, pit bull mix with a ton of energy and is a poor listener when he's over-excited. We used this both as a walking aide and as a remote in the house.

As a walking aide it had an immediate effect the first one or two times we walked him but then he seemed like he got used to it. My dog is very strong-willed and I was skeptical about a product like this working and its effects did not last when on walks. He is simply too excited when he's sniffing around outside to pay much heed to this. As instructed, we started with the sensitivity turned all the way down, and over time turned it all the way up.

However, when using it indoors to keep him from jumping on guests, we had much more favorable results. Since he's such a large dog, we ended up increasing the sensitivity dial all the way up and whenever he looked like he would jump on someone, we activated the remote and he would back off. We always make sure to have this on hand when someone visits our home and after a few minutes when he's calmed down, we can put it away.

It's simply a sound that is emitted so there are no negative effects (unless, I suppose, if you use it improperly). It doesn't need to be right next to the dog's head, just pointed at him/her. I also like (and didn't realize at first) that when used as a remote, after activating it, it automatically deactivates after a few seconds.

Great training tool

This product is too bulky to add to the dogs leash, I wish it was more lite weight, but as a training tool it is great. My dog responds, right away and does not repeat behavior a lot of the time,

Works extremely well on the leash. But I didn't see a range in the literature for remote training.

Worked like magic for my Lab!

This worked like magic for my very excited Black Lab. He is usually pulling me all over the place, but after a pull or two, he was a changed dog. I am very happy!
