Perfect Travel Companion

I had three requirements for a travel iron. 1. Must be very small and light. 2. Iron out most of the wrinkles from my clothes. 3. Must have dual voltage. This little "jewel" meets all three! It's only 12oz packed in its cloth travel bag (same as my electric shaver), and it is about the size of a computer mouse! Perfect! There is no on-off switch, so just plug it in, wait a minute and it's ready. I usually test it by touching my tongue with my finger and quickly touching the iron. When it sizzles, it's ready! I found it heats enough to touch up my shirts, pants and ties. I also use a small spray bottle of water to lightly mist the garment if necessary. I found that I need to press a little more and go a little slower while ironing and sometimes go over it several times to get all the wrinkles out, let's be realistic - Don't expect this little $20.00 jewel to perform like a $150.00 Rowenta steam iron. This is just for light touchups using a bath towel on the hotel dresser. So don't expect to iron your wool suit with this (send it to the cleaners). Finally, the dual voltage (110/220). I only bring this travel iron with me when I travel to Europe. In the states, the hotel rooms (at least the ones I stay at) all have irons and ironing boards. In Europe, I usually like to stay at small quaint hotels with European character - which translates to "no iron in the room". So for me, this little baby does the trick. It's tiny, it's light, it freshens up my clothes, works with 110/220 volts, what more can I ask for around $20.00?

TINY, BUT IT WORKS
by Sue B. (5 out of 5 stars)

This is really tiny, and heats up pretty quickly, though I didn't time it. It fits easily under my palm, and with the cord loosely draped over my forearm to keep the cord out of the way is easy to maneuver over the material. I wear a medium sized glove, so someone with dexterity issues and a large hand might find it less easy to use. I tried it on two linen pieces: a blouse and capris. I use a small spray bottle when I want to "steam" press, and am pleased with the results. If you demand a steam iron, please note that this iron is so tiny there would be no room for a water tank. Also note that a prime complaint about steam irons is their tendency to spit water rather than produce steam. If you are a stickler for perfection, you probably will want to send your clothing to a cleaners because you will not be satisfied with using an ironing mat and a tiny iron. But I am more than satisfied with my purchase.

Handle Gets Very Hot!
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)

I bought this to take to quilting retreats. I took it to a quilting class to use for the first time & discovered that the handle gets very hot & after awhile it is uncomfortable to hold the iron & use it. I'm not Happy!!! I would return this if I could, but I ordered it at Christmas time & didn't try it out soon enough to return within the allowed period. If you were using this as a quick press on a trip it would probably be ok, however there is no temperature control; it's either off or hot which would not be good for many fabric types. Buyer beware of this product!

It just not powerful enough to remove all the wrinkles, especially deep wrinkles.

I had high hopes for this iron. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to keep on searching for a small travel iron. It seems like the deal breaker was that this iron doesn't steam. Steam seems to be very important when it comes to quickly and efficiently ironing out the wrinkles in clothes. This iron is very small, compact, and all things consider irons decent. It just not powerful enough to remove all the wrinkles, especially deep wrinkles.

We just got back from Italy and used this iron ...

We just got back from Italy and used this iron (with an electric converter of course). It worked but I did not realize when I purchased it that there was no place to put water for steam. I brought a small spray bottle to spray my clothes before ironing them. So, yes it worked well, but we had to bring along a spray bottle when luggage space was already tight.

Small and fits in palm just fine. Lack of steam is not an issue

Small and fits in palm just fine. Lack of steam is not an issue. If you want steam get a slightly bigger iron. Heat is quite strong and it worked well in the US on test. Will take it overseas for 220 and check it out there. Do not expect any problems. Last travel iron lasted 10 years. Still works but has developed a slight crack due to all the moving around.
