Still hot!

I was very excited to try this product since I am always burning my hands on the oven racks. They look great but when I pulled out my oven rack I was surprised that it was still quite hot. I didn't burn myself, so maybe that's a good thing, but it certainly wasn't cool enough to pull the rack out without an oven mit or silicone glove. So considering you still need protection, it doesn't make sense to have the rack guards. They also made it clumsy to slide a pot/dish in and out of the oven.

Dangerous

Does not even preform to minimum standards. I have burn on the back of my hand to prove it! Was getting something off the bottom rack, and I hit the back of my hand on the top guard. Imagine if I was doing what YOUR picture shows! Why does the picture show someone pulling the rack out with your 'warm to the touch' guards!! Warm to the touch!! They would have severely burned their fingers! Worthless product and deceptive advertising. Waste of money! Have requested refund.

Very Disappointed, They Set Off My Smoke Alarms
by ODuchess (1 out of 5 stars)

For many years I wished for some device that could protect my wrists and forearms from those awful sizzling encounters with oven racks. I have scars aplenty from the years I was raising children and baking more often. Finally, HERE IT IS!!! I installed my silicone rack guards onto the racks of the freshly cleaned oven in my new apartment. I had the oven set to 375° F and as soon as the temperature reached that point my smoke alarms went off! The guards were emitting some sort of fumes, perhaps because they were new, but I had to give up and remove them and air out my apartment so the alarms would stop (this was in December during very cold weather). The next time I used the oven without the guards installed, there were no problems. I plan to return them for a refund. Should have read the reviews before purchasing these and I would have known better!

didn't work very good

I bought these for my daughter and said they didn't work very good, I have to say they don't work as well as the add and photo show.

One thing is very true though. They say they are only good up to 400 degrees and that is true. Even at 400 you need oven mitts.

Oh and if you do have them, make sure to take them out before you clean the oven! Her boyfriend didn't think about that and what a mess was left after they melted, not to mention the smell and the smoke!

It was their own fault that they melted but we will not be replacing them. I bought her some nice new oven mitts instead.

Not at all what I thought they would be.

I thought that these guards would allow me to pull out the rack without having to worry about always having hot pads. Instead they make it hard to get the pans in and out of the oven. I have a built in oven and have never had much of an issue with burns. I gave one to my daughter to use and because of the difficulty getting the pans out over the guards, she burnt herself of the top heating element, something that she had never done before. Needless to say, she returned the product to me.

not even 1 star...

I was so excited about this product because my husband hates to use potholders and I saw this on pinterest. This is the first product I have ever purchased without reading reviews and that was a mistake.

I used them while cooking somethung at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. When I opened the oven door the smell was horrible, it smelled like plastic melting and lo and behold the things were starting to melt. Not only that, they were extremely hot and I burned myself touching them.

Worst product I have ever bought. They aren't even worth the hassle of returning so they went straight into the trash.

melted at 400 degrees

The guard was meant to be touchable, as shown in the picture despite the oven being on. The first time they were used the oven rack melted holes through it. The melting silicone was dangerous to remove in the semi-liquid form but we were afraid it would catch fire if not removed immediately. Would NOT buy these again, I believe it is the material they are made of that is the problem. I did not return them as I did not spend much and would be afraid of trying again, for safety's sake.

Horrible.

I bought these for a close friend (who also lives up the street) and I am so disappointed in the quality. I looked at them after she used them for ONE WEEK and they were discolored. I was shocked when she told me that at any temperature over 300, they get so hot that it hurts. The oven happened to be on and I touched it...guess what- SUPER HOT. Isn't the whole point to protect your skin from the heat? These are definitely going back- I DO NOT recommend them. Woof!

Does not work - do not buy!

I have no idea what the makers of this product think its purpose is. At 325 degrees, a standard oven temperature, the "guards" were too hot to touch. What's the purpose if you still need to use an oven mitt? Plus, we use our oven at 450 (an "unsafe" temperature since they start smoking) all the time, but it's not a quick changeout because the "easy" snaps were not easy at all. I got them to stay on, but I had to pull out each rack and painstakingly push each snap on. I'm not redoing that every time I use the oven at 450! I'm taking these off and throwing them away. That's $15.00 (not counting shipping!) in the trash. :(

you cannot grab them right after the door is opened as the picture shows. while they are cooler than the oven itself, it is still much too hot to touch. They also get dirty with baked on grease/splatter/food and is difficult to get the spots off.
