THE BEST Form Funnel you can buy!!!
by Steve S (5 out of 5 stars)
August 5, 2013

I'm not sure why people are rating this less than 5-stars. This is a 10 Gold Star Funnel.

I have three german vehicles where the oil drain bolt is on the side of the oils pan - not on the bottom. So what happens? the oil shoots out side-ways instead of strait down. so i either hold this funnel shapped in 180-degrees - shapped as a deflector. I bend /wedge it up and back into the car and when i remove the drain bolt - the oil shoots out sideways into the funnel and straight down into my oil catch pan. anyone who wants to substitute this for a normal funnel should not be able to review products. This is a great funnel even if you want to funnel liquids, you just have to form it properly and remember that the funnel is not 100% closed and sealed ... this is a forming funnel, i think some of the reviewers forgot this!!!

It works perfectly on my family volvo, benz, and audi. and these cars all hold 6-10 quarts of oil.... so its a great tool to form in the shape you want, wedge it or clamp it under the car, and let the oil drain to the form funnel and into the oil catch pan... while the oil is draining you can do something else like change your filters instead of having to sit under the car while quarts and quarts of oil drain!!

Ohhhh... clean up is a breeze.. a shot with some break cleaner, or purple degreaser and some soap and water, you would never know motor-oil was ever on this.... and the nitrile its made from... doesn't even let oils really adhere to it.

this is a 5-star product all the way - i actually wish i invented it. I do wish it was a bit more affordable but even at the price its at, i would buy another one without the blink of an eye.

Please click YES if my review have been helpful to you, it will encourage me to continue writing and updating my reviews, and leave a comment if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer if I can be of help.

Didnt think it would work

Trying to change the oil in my wife's Touareg -- when you remove the drain plug -- oil wants to get *all over* one of the cross members... I've looked for funnels before but since I was not able to find one that fit nicely -- I had just resigned myself to cleanup after the fact. Along comes the 'form-a-funnel'.. Wow.

This allowed me to form the funnel and channel that hot oil along the path I wanted.... it was like an ugly black river but absolutely not a drop got anywhere I didnt want it.

This is a great product.. I've now used it 3 times - so dont know about the durability and it seems expensive - -but i absolutely hate oil cleanup so......

Terrific for Aviation Too
by J. Gower (5 out of 5 stars)

I noticed that most reviews were for automobiles, but I wanted to add that the 29" version is terrific for aircraft oil changes as well. I fly a C172RG and for my oil changes, this product works perfectly. The length is sufficient to snake down through the engine cowl flap from the drain valve. It's also long enough to reach out over the top of the fuselage when the left cowling is removed so that I can drain the trapped oil from the oil filter before it's removed.

I showed this to both my A&P (an awesome guy who showed me the ropes for oil changes) and my friend who got me interested in aviation. Both were impressed. I'm going to buy another for my A&P as a thanks, but I'll definitely buy a second one for myself to speed up oil changes if it goes on sale again in the near future.

A really unique and useful product that easily justifies its cost, even when it's not on sale.

Works as advertised
by Alberto (5 out of 5 stars)

The product works as described and has already become an indispensable part of my toolset for DIY auto maintenance. I recently used it during an oil change on my 2005 Honda Accord V6 (see customer picture I posted) and it worked great. It's very easy to flex and mold around suspension parts which prevented a mess when changing out the oil filter on this car. I was able to channel the oil over and around the suspension to drain to my oil catch pan so cleanup was a breeze. Just wipe it down with a shop towel when you're done and it's good to go for the next time. There's really nothing else like it as far as I know so it's already one of my favorite tools because of it.

Extremely useful
by Marooned72 (5 out of 5 stars)

I got this funnel to do oil changes on my 2015 Suzuki GSX-S 750Z. The problem in my case is that the oil filter sits directly above the exhaust pipes so a typical oil change will leave a lot of oil burnoff for later. With the Form-A-Funnel I simply draped it over the exhaust pipes and let the oil pour down, over the funnel and pipes and into the oil bin. Problem solved! It's easy to shape and re-form and cleans easily.

I actually probably could have used the next smaller size but that's on me - the product worked perfectly.

Works great for hard to reach oil filters.
by Paco (5 out of 5 stars)

We bought this because every time we changed the oil on our Honda Odyssey the oil from the filter would pour all over the frame from the horrible planning on the engineers part placing the oil filter directly above the frame rail. This funnel works perfectly for that. It bend 90 degrees to wrap around the frame rail and then curves for the path down right into the drain pan. Great invention.

Neat Little Tool

Good tool but don't let your kids play with it. My 13 year old grandson started bending it back and forth and almost broke it in half. The instructions warn against repeatedly bending it just like he was doing. Luckily I was able to straighten it out, then I straightened him out....

This could this could be a very handy item.

I like this quirky little gismo, but I wish for the price it was a little longer. I can see times where I could use a little bit more to help prevent the oil drips.
I did give it a shot today changing the oil in my lawn tractor and it was okay. Because of the short length of the product I had to really mess around with the position of the oil collection tank. If the funnel was longer it wouldn't have been such a struggle.

Perfect for hard to get oil filters

I work as a mechanic, if you have ever changed oil many manufacturers they have the oil filter in either a hard to reach place or above the frame or in some other spot that gets oils all over the underside of the car. This eliminates that issue. Just bend, place, and let the oil drain to the oil caddy. It's made my job 100 times easier not having to try to clean up everywhere or putting a plastic bag down.

Great for bike owners!
by 22foxy (5 out of 5 stars)

I ordered this product to help my husband when he changes the oil in his motorcycle. He Ioves it & has commented on it several times. He said he would usually have a large puddle of oil to clean up due to the the drain placement on the bike, but with the Form-A-Funnel he only had a dime sized spot! I'm sure there are many other uses, but is our experience.
