Product Description

Fascinating and fun. USB Plasma Ball is fascinating to watch and even more fun to play with --Placing a finger tip on the glass creates an attractive spot for the energy to flow, because the conductive human body is more easily polarized than the dielectric material around the electrode providing an alternative discharge path having less resistance. The Plasma Ball is great for kids of all ages. Whether you are a fun loving work professional or a parent who wants their kids to learn about static electricity without the need to google Tesla's high voltage plasma globe. This is a great year round gift idea. Measures 6 inches tall. Globe measures approx. 3 inches diameter. Base measures approx. 4 inches diameter.

Great for the Price, Fun on the Desk
by Matt Fleener (5 out of 5 stars)

Despite some other negative reviews this arrived in working condition, was well packaged and showed up on time. Sitting on my desk and powered by USB it's just a fun thing. The plastic stand leaves something to be desired, but at the price you're paying I don't think you should expect a marble base. It's great, fun, works. Sitting on my desk and keeps me entertained when im zoning out and avoiding working on something I should be doing.

This will be perfect for my desk at work

This Plasma Ball Lamp just arrived and works great!

It's the perfect size for my desk at work to break up the monotony of the job.

Yes, the stand is plastic as some reviewers have complained about, but what do you expect for around nine bucks.

It's fine.

I like it!

Entertained my kids

My kids thought this was awesome. I didn't Check the size before I ordered. It is small. That was my fault. But my kids loved it anyway. Worth the money for science entertainment for young minds trying to figure out how it works when you touch it.

Cheaply made, but functions appropriately
by Jesse (3 out of 5 stars)

I'll admit I did not have high hopes for this product based on the other reviews, as well as the cost. However, I thought it would be interesting for some of the children I work with and in that regard it was a success.

The base on my model was blue, which isn't a big deal but I assumed I would get a black one as the picture shows. I'm not sure the "Sound" feature works very well at all, but I haven't tried it near any exceptionally loud sources of noise to be completely certain.

It functions properly on both battery and USB power, but produces very few, extremely weak "arcs" that are difficult to see in a room with average lighting (and impossible to see outside). Touching the orb in a single spot will produce a single, brighter arc, but it certainly looks nothing like the stock photo.

For a cheap toy, it's not bad. Just don't expect a bright performance.

Entertaining desk toy.

I got one of these plasma ball lights for my desk at work. I have it plugged in to the usb port but it will function on batteries as well. These have always fascinated me and still do. Cannot complain about the price. My only complaint is that if it is too close to the computer keyboard, the keys don't function properly. Keystrokes are missed or at times random letters appear without keying them. I remedied this by just keeping it off to the side, away from the keyboard. It did not matter what power source I used, it would interfere with the proper operation of the keyboard.

All said, I would buy it again. It is a fun distraction at work and a conversation piece when people drop by my desk.

Pretty good for the price

Pretty good for the price, although it takes long to be shipped from China. Haven't tried with battery yet, the USB power supply port works great. You just need a separate USB power adapter separately. Plama light is bright compared to other I have bought in the past. The switch is not very good, but still works after moving a bit towards left and right.

For my son's birthday.
by Chad D. (4 out of 5 stars)
August 25, 2017

My son saw the overpriced versions of these they sell at giftshops in one of the science centers we visited over the summer. I wouldnt let him get one then, because I figured it would be short used. I was correct. I got him this for his birthday and he was really happy and it works really well. It did not come with a wall wart so be prepared. Like most households these days though we had plenty laying around. He still gets it out from time to time but it spends most of its days in its box. Glad it was cheap.

I have one of the original large ones of these & really had low expectations for this little, inexpensive one. I was really surprised & have been impressed with this product! It does have a glass globe with a plastic base, like the original (though the plastic is more fragile than the original, but something had to give at this price point). This was shipped from overseas so it takes awhile to get to you but I'll be buying more, just allow for time.

Back to childhood
by Amanda S. (5 out of 5 stars)
January 27, 2019

When I saw this it instantly threw me back to my childhood and I had to get it. I like that it is a smaller one and does not take up as much room as the larger ones. It also is a USB plug so I can plug it into any of my chargers that I already have. Are used to love one of these as a kid and when I saw this I just had to get it. I do like really shiny lights and I have quite a few lava lamps and glitter lights and this will work great with it. I did find out when I plugged it in that apparently a cats nose touching it is the same thing as your finger touching it. And I think I spent 10 minutes laughing at the cat who was obsessed with this
