Broke on the Trail
by DmacV2 (1 out of 5 stars)

Greatest place in the world for a tool to break, on the trail, miles from flat land to jack up and change a flat. First off, the reamer tip was super blunt, had to "file" it down to make it sharp enough to enter the tire. After reaming the crud out of the hole, used the insert tool. Upon trying to shove the speed plug in (yes, all gooed up with included lube), tool bent and rendered itself completely useless. The really sad thing is this was a slow leek to begin with and should have just left it alone... but oh no... had to try and patch it while friends were playing around. Literally went from slow leak to full on flat in seconds. First clue... "Made in China".... should have returned on the spot. Can't return it now so I'll just take the stems, cores and pliers out and pitch the rest of the kit.

Kit needs to be modified to be a proper repair kit.
by DodgeRam1500 (1 out of 5 stars)

#1) Case is flimsy and weak, in warmer weather it is so thin and soft that components of the kit are not retained, the hinges will most likely fail in a short period of time.
#2) The kit does not come with a ream, it comes with a hole sizing spike. It is not a ream. The tool has no ability to machine or otherwise abrade the tire rubber. I believe this is an effort to not damage nylon plys or steel belts. A ream would provide a better uniform bonding surface but the spike will most likely create less damage to the belts.
#3) The kit comes with a small container of petroleum jelly and recommends using the "ream" with it. That is dangerous. The kit should include something for chemical vulcanizing the worms in place, not lubricating the hole they go into. Using tire specific "rubber cement" will not only work as a lubricant, but also help seal the hole and therefore preserve the belts from the elements, this is a major flaw in this kit.

I would not recommend the methods in the instructions as safe even as a temporary repair. Disappointing product from ARB. Surprised they haven't gotten sued over it.

ARB=TOP NOTCH QUALITY

This is my second set. My first set I had to use for my friends truck when the side wall of his tire got sliced by a rock in the middle of nowhere. Luckily i had this with me in my truck. Had to use many plugs and im surprised the tire held air no prob. Second time used it on my brothers truck. These plugs are longer and thicker than most kits on here. If you go OFFROAD YOU NEED THIS KIT. I've bought cheaper kits and i know.. trust me. The difference with this kit and a cheap one is that you're going home even if you get a flat that cant be said for other kits. Spend the money now and you will be glad you did. Because if you're in the middle of nowhere thats going to cost you ten times the price of this kit if not more!

Excellent kit

Sure, you can get similar kits for less money, but this one is quite good. The size and abundance of plugs is nice, as are all the extra tools/bits. I took my truck to a local off-road park and came home to find I had gotten a slow leak. Without any experience doing this before, I had it plugged in less than 30 minutes. The hard part was finding the leak, but that was accomplished with some soapy water. Once I found it, all I had to do was ream the tiny hole into a larger hole so the plug would fit, insert the plug, then trim the ends. There are videos online that can show you the basics. The kit served me well and I take it with me on every road trip.

2 Year Update Review
by JEEP 4x4 Enthusiast (5 out of 5 stars)

Great kit! These are auto mechanic quality tools, and has just about every accessory needed to repair your tire to include the stem.

I've matched this with an air compressor, and feel comfortable being in very remote areas in my jeep with this combo.

There are no negatives for this product.
==============================================================================

The tire repair kit from ARB that I purchased over two years ago has seen usage all across the country. It's saved a three jeep overlanding trip from being cut short TWICE. I've been on Jeep Jamborees and was able to help others with in minutes and kept things on schedule. But most of all I travel solo a lot on backroads, forest roads, and all types of remote places. I'm confident that this kit will do what I need when the time comes.

I replaced the tire plugs after 12 months, but that's me being safer than sorry. The patches were still sticky and would perform. The tools are durable and I see mechanics in tire shops with them all the time. As a matter of fact, most offroaders I see by a large margin use this kit.

I didnt purchase the tire gauge/deflator. But, fellow offroaders have let me use theres many times and it performs great. I have deflators, and a compressor that has a gauge. So dont really need one.

Stop reading... Buy it.

A worthwhile purchase for every motorist

I don't think there is anything special about this kit, but I am happy with it so far. It has easy-to-follow instructions. The tools seem sturdy enough. The case that comes with it fits nicely in the compartment under the floor of my 2007 Mazda3 hatchback.

It takes some muscle to actually insert the plug into the tire and then extract the tool. If you are plugging a puncture in one of the vehicle's front tires, you can leave it on the car, but I can't imagine repairing a rear wheel while it's on the car. You wouldn't be able to find a good position to put enough force on the tool.

I took my time and probably spent an hour fixing one of the front tires of my car just now. In comparison, I could have easily spent two hours at a tire shop and they probably would have conned me into buying a new tire. Therefore, I would estimate that this kit has already paid for itself. It comes with lots of plugs, probably enough to last me until cars become illegal.

I will update this review if it turns out that I have any trouble with the plug. The instructions say that it is just supposed to be a temporary repair, but I am going to try my luck and see how long it lasts.

I've used and broken a dozen of the cheaper plastic plug kits and T handel's are a must. if you're not carful and you break them your in for a rough day. I have several ARB products and paid out the nose for them but they have been very much a buy once cry once experience. They never disappoint. When I stumbled on this kit with metal tT handel's and ARB branded I thought I had to have it and almost didn't even want to look at the price. I thought if it's under 125 bucks im making this happen. I think I paid about 40 bucks for mine thinking this must be counterfeit or something. I have used it a few times and every time im pleasantly surprised how much nicer it is to use then those sketchy plastic ones. Even that hokey washer looking thing on the plunger totally works and well at that. It even comes with a decent set of pliers that didn't immediately at value in my opinion... Until I needed to pull a nail from a leaking tire. I ended up ordering another one for my step son. It's cheap insurance a great product and im my opinion a value at twice the price.

Surprisingly bulky container
by Mark Edward Dawson (4 out of 5 stars)

I have not used the actual tools yet - hopefully never will, of course - but they feel solid and I assume knowing ARB's reputation that they're fine. I am, however, slightly surprised at the packaging. Again, knowing ARB's quality and experience with offroading, I would think they would provide a more compact and space-efficient container for their kit.

The orange plastic clam shell box takes up much more precious cargo room than necessary. I repacked it all into a smaller pouch left over from something or other, and it now takes up a fraction of the original volume. Their case might protect the tools better, but they are hardly fragile things anyhow. Lastly, the plastic does not seem all that durable, particularly the hinge and the clasps. In short, I'm sure the tools are fine, but the case is going in the recycling.

Great product and very easy to use. Yes I have already used this on 2 tires while off road with my Jeep. Was quick and the repair has lasted for over a month. Directions are BAD, but on the loss of One Star Bad only.... Save headaches and Money and buy this product. Lots of You Tube Videos on how to use the ARB Speedy Seal Tire Repair Kit. Works like a charm whether you go off road or not. Anyone with a Car should have this.

You need to have this with you at all times.

After getting a big nail in my tire of my truck, I tried using my tire plug kit that I had from our car..... fortunately when the handle broke it did not go through my hand.... so a coworker had a kit similar to this (same kit, but a red case) and for the act of having to plug a tire, it was a pleasure to use. As soon as I got home, I ordered this kit.

Since then I have had to use it twice... once on my truck and once as a favor to a neighbor. The handles are great as they are big, beefy, and unlike the other local auto store kits, you will not injure yourself.

The only problem that I have had with my truck is the composition of the tires... they are thick. With that, the reamer that is included works well, but what I use instead is a drill with a drillbit to ream out the hold. On a car tire, that is not necessary, but on a truck (I have a Toyota Tundra) it just makes the job easier.

Besides that, it is a great kit and I take it everywhere I go. My dad also needed a kit and I sent one to him as a gift--- he has used it twice and he also believes it is one of the best kits he has ever owned.
