Good for Halloween, Concerned about Odor

My daughter decided to be Rapunzel for Halloween and she had to have this wig! I knew it wouldn't be the best quality as it is a $20 wig and made for kids, but I thought it would be perfect for her to wear with her Halloween costume. When I opened the package at first I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wig. It was soft and very pretty. I did notice a slight odor, but chalked it up to being a normal new item smell (like a "new car smell"). I left in it in the braid and let my daughter try it on. It fit her head perfectly. Then we ran into tangling issues when I tried to hang the wig up for safe keeping. It got so tangled that I had to take out the braid to fix it. Now I can't get it styled back to the braid because it gets tangled every time you move it. I can live with all of that - since it will still look decent for Halloween. The issue I have is the odor!!! The new item smell I thought was normal has become a very foul odor. It smells like mold/mildew. I am concerned that it may be harmful to my daughters health. I have not read any other reviews about other wigs having this smell. I am wondering of our shipment got wet or was in an enclosed area for a long period of time.

2 stars because it is cute and hair is soft but it says for age 3+ and my daughter just turned 4 and it was almost too small and very itchy she only wore it for 30m

If I wasn't too busy (lazy), I would have returned this on day one. The part of the wig that fits over the head never holds onto our little granddaughter's head. I can't tell if the wig is too big or too small! I've even tried clipping it to her hair but the wig still won't stay on her head. It is pretty much all frustration to me. The wig hair was braided when it arrived, but after she wore it for about 1/2 hour, the braid was coming undone, so we took it out. The wig is very thin, can easily see the binding. The entire thing looks like a blond rat's nest now. Our little granddaughter is not discerning about such matters so she still loves it anyway.

I saw a lot of reviews saying this was too small for 4yr olds. So I purchased it for my 2 yr old. It was the perfect size, but to be honest, my daughter has a big head. It says it's for age 3 and over, but really its probably better sized for 3 and under. It worked great overall. We kept it braided and it looked really good. I think if unbraided it might look thin around top, but braided, it is great. There are some gold strands in with the blond, just a few. We used it for Halloween and now have it for dress up play. I'm not sure how long it will stay looking good, but I've already gotten my money's worth out of it. Very happy with purchase and will probably purchase again because my daughter LOVES Rapunzel.

bought this for my daughter who was 3 at the time. I also bought one for my 3 year old niece. My daughter is very tall and sturdy and my niece is very short and petite. The wigs fit neither child well.

Honestly I think they're garbage and they were small or uncomfortable on their heads.

I would not purchase again as it was a waste of money. They were unable to use for Halloween, or even to okay with around the house. I threw in garbage.

Horrible product

The wig has a horrible odor. My granddaughter is only 3 so small head, did not fit at all. This wig is not worth the money , also fearfull that is will make someone sick, not knowing what is causing the horrible smell.

Tangled oooh, how tangled...

Ever since my 3 yr old daughter watched the movie Tangled, she has been wanting to have looong hair...Despite reading the negative reviews of other parents who purchased this wig for their daughters I went ahead and purchased it anyway. And let me tell you that all the reviews are true! As soon as one takes the wig out of its net, it gets tangled. Fortunately, I had a plan. I purchased a detangling product prior to receiving the wig, as well as a hard plastic hair brush. I lightly sprayed the wig, and gently brushed the wig. (If you brush or pull too hard, the hair just comes off) I then took hair from the left, right and middle parts of the wig and made a braid in the center. This prevented the wig from tangling, a little. After 1 hour of playing with this wig and getting it ready to present it to my daughter, I was exhausted. My daughter received her wig, and was very excited,( I also bought her the dress and slippers) she dresses like Rapunzel every time she gets. The wig does not get tangled as long as it is not handled! After she takes the wig off, I place it back in its original packaging, the net and box. If you have the patience, time and energy to do this it is well worth it, just to see the smile on your child. That is why I gave it 3 stars..(quality, well...0) Good luck

Not the same as the one pictured.

This tangled wig isn't the same as the one shown in the picture. The one pictured (which has Rapunzel swinging from a rope in the lower left corner of the box) is the original Disney wig. The one that you will receive if you order this is the newer version -- there is a picture of Rapunzel standing in the lower left corner and the wig comes braided - which you can see through the clear portion of the box.

The difference in the two wigs isn't huge -- but might be an issue for anyone trying to replace an earlier wig. My daughter loves these wigs so we have purchased more than a few. As noted in all the reviews, the wigs (both versions) tangle really easily and so they don't last long. But at less than $10 you can replace them periodically. However, the newer version is shorter and thinner than the original and my daughter doesn't like it. She is very particular -- showing me images on-line of the box that contains the wig she prefers. Unfortunately, in this case the box shown doesn't match what you get.
