Product Description

I was under the impression it would hold molten carbonite as it states clearly in the title this is a carbonite MOLD and it's very poorly constructed for this purpose. Secondly, it's SMALL. No, you can't put people in... [Read more]

A novelty gift
by Toni Kamsler (3 out of 5 stars)

I'd truthfully give this 3 1/2 stars, if I could, because it's not a bad product, just not an exceptional one either. It's a novelty gift, more meant to be fun just by existing than it is to really make awesome replica ice cubes. It's made out of good material and the bigger cube does make a decent image, but the smaller ones, it's too difficult to make out what it's supposed to be. Having said that, if you can't afford a life-size carbonite machine but you do have something that will shrink Han Solo down to miniature size, then this is a great solution. ;-)

Solo Chocolate
by Beth D (5 out of 5 stars)

I used these for chocolate molding rather than ice cubes. All I did was melt Hersey's kisses and pour them in to set. You need to use a toothpick or some other pokey thing to really get the chocolate into all of the holes and make the details clear when you finally pop out the chocolate. I enjoyed being all up in Han's business. ;) These were a great addition to our annual Star Wars Day fun.

Not a real Kotobukiya!
by J. Kramer (2 out of 5 stars)

The mold I received was not a genuine Kotobukiya mold. This mold was much darker in color than my other kotobukiya Han Solo mold. It had much less detail and also did not have the small kotobukiya trade mark and branding on the mold. I am extremely unhappy with this purchase.

"The Empire will compensate you if he melts."

This thing is awesome! I melt Toblerone chocolate in the microwave, dab the inside surface of the mold with a little melted butter (on a napkin), and pour the chocolate in, SLOWLY! After chilling it for about 30 or more minutes, I remove perfect Han Solo chocolate bars that are a hit with my 5 year old!

Very Small
by G. Swanson (3 out of 5 stars)

I purchased these for my brother for Christmas because we are huge Star Wars fans. And yes, it is neat and fun and cool... but it is small. About half the size I was expecting. Naturally you would expect them to be Ice Cube Tray size, but as I mentioned, they are about half that. The smaller figures are about the size of my pointer finger. I don't know how these could keep any drink cool. It is more for the novelty of owning it than making ice with it. I guess it would be more directed to making little candy / chocolate figures with.

Too awesome to be "toy"!
by Food Hammer (5 out of 5 stars)

When I started to write this review, Amazon asked me if I was over 13 years old. WTF? I think that is because this item lives in the "toy" area. Point of fact: the ONLY people I know who are even REMOTELY excited about having Han Solo-in-carbonite ice cubes are over the age of 40.

Honestly, this is not a toy in any meaningful sense of the word. It is a deliriously dork-tastic accessory to round out one's collection of Yoda PEZ dispensers, Chewbacca bedroom slippers, and that Tauntaun sleeping bag you know you have on your loveseat.

What is there not to love about these? It's Han in friggin' carbonite! If I could afford the full-size replica with the blinking lights, it would already be in my living room. This is the next best thing....

I challenge you to make this your everyday cube of choice.

It's pretty good?
by K. Sawyer (4 out of 5 stars)

This is, like, pretty good? I think a lot of people mentioned how small the cubes are, and you're all "I don't care, I want Han Solo's face melting in my cocktail" and then you get it and you're like, theeeeese are pretty small han solos.

Boyfriend loves it!!!
by holly (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He had been looking at the same product on another web site, and was very excited about it, but didn't end up purchasing one. I did a search on Amazon, and ordered it for him here. He was so happy when he opened it up, and had to start using it right away. The ice cubes are pretty small- it's definitely more of a novelty item, but any Star Wars fan, young or old, is sure to love this as a gift. I may buy him the larger tray later on to see if he likes it better/can use it for more stuff. His friends have already suggested all sorts of ways he could use them for a Star Wars themed party- chocolates, butter pats... :)

This tray works great for making Hon Solo ice cubes
by Megan (5 out of 5 stars)
August 7, 2014

This tray works great for making Hon Solo ice cubes, but when used with choclate or soap I actually find the quality to be higher and the level of detail more pronounced than with ice.

Some have claimed that the tray is flimsy, and this is kinda true, you need to put it on a plate or cutting board to transport it to the freezer.

Also it has been noted that this is small, also true, but if you want cool Han Solo novelty ice it works great, if you are looking to replace your ice tray, probably not such a great purchase.

All in all lots of fun, and it works great.
