The Xone:DB4 is a truly ground-breaking mixer and by far the most advanced product that Allen & Heath has designed. As the loops and FX are automatically synchronized to the tempo of the track, it is very easy to build some amazing grooves and soundscapes without problems of latency, low fidelity and the general hassle often associated with using software and laptops. The icing on the cake is the flexible input matrix, where any audio source can be selected on any or all of the channels. Different processing can be applied to the same track on separate channels and you can fade between them, or a phrase sampled in the looper of one channel can be added to the mix later in the track. This is a really powerful performance mixer. However it is a real shame that though it can create and consume MIDI clock to sync the looper and effects a) there is no dedicated MIDI jack of some form and b) the USB is not class compliant. This means you ALWAYS need to have a computer involved to get the MIDI sync to work. I use this with a modular synth and so this is annoying and limits the use of the effects and looper.

The Xone DB4 is, without question, the best DJ mixer currently on the market. Incredible sound quality, and four separate, studio grade FX processors with effects that sound so good you can actually use them. Every other DJ mixer with FX sounds cheesy compared to the Xone DB4. That has always been my complaint about other FX mixers.... The FX always sounded colored. I hated using FX because they sounded so obvious, and they got so old and cliched if you used them too much. The DB4 sounds so natural, like the Fx were part of the original music material.

As fun as the FX are, the primary reason to go with Allen & Heath is the sound quality. No mixer I have used makes my mixes sound as clean and clear as A&H. My old Xone 62 was excellent, and the DB4 is amazing.

Each time I use this mixer I am blown away. There is so much creative potential.

Don't even think about looking at another mixer. If you want the best there is, this is it.

I purchased both the DB4 and the Pioneer DJM-2000 from Amazon so I could test them both out in my studio. First off, both are GREAT mixers. But I have to say the DJM felt more like a toy. The layout is great, but the plastic build and effects just don't feel as pro as the A&H.

This mixer sounds unbelievable and the effects are so natural that sometimes I forget if I've used them on my mixes. Amazing mixer.

The best club mixer available PERIOD!!!

Without a doubt the best club mixer currently available. It has individual BPM counters per channel even to .1 of a beat plus world class unique special effects. Also, a four bar looper with beat-sync per channel, which allows for tremendously flexibility. Furthermore, the frequency isolators and complete kill of highs, mids, and lows per channel is impressive. The only negative is the layout. It is a bit confusing, but very functional. Shoparound for the best price.

I had this mixer was going to send it back until i discovered how to play 2 channels through the 4 channels and using 2 of those channels for effects. I only use a little bit of echo or reverb I don't like any other EFFECTS and I bring effect in on each channels while one channel is without any effect it sounds fantastic !

the screen for viewing which effect is pathetic for the price the Denon 1700 much better, funny they are made by same company. I like that's its light and recording made from digital out at 48khz sound sweet, also it would not work with Traktor and usb 3.0 so I used a usb 2.0 hub and it worked fine :)

so If you use Traktor with two decks and want to add effects in s subtle way on the other 2 channels this mixer rocks ! even though it's pricey !

After some use the one main xlr out on back stopped working or suddenly goes very loud and digital recording out broke if you unplug and plug in cables xle or digital like I do all the time it looks like the xone db4 is not built so good !

MAAAN THIS MIXER IS GOOD!!! If you are a creative performer DJ and dont like making hearts with your hands while DJ-ing than this is your creative tool. If you like layering loops, sculpting sounds and creating something unique each set than THIS IS IT. it is NOT a mixer, it's an Instrument. The only thing i wish i had a master FX on all channels too. Also you can only have on FX per chanel at a time. Two filters is good but hardly ever use the second one. Looper? i guess useful for Vinyl DJs but not for me. anyway, GO BUY ONE NOW!
