Hip Belt IS REMOVABLE people....
by JV (5 out of 5 stars)
March 18, 2016

Asked if the hip belt was removable to the amazon community, three people replied that it was NOT removable, but it IS easily removable. Not sure why people think it's not.

Removable hip belt is mandatory as far as i am concerned for a good day pack i never need the hip belt.

Great pack great price!

I think I finally found my last mid size hunting pack!
by Hillbilly Jedi (5 out of 5 stars)

I think I may have finally found my last hunting pack. Unfortunately I haven't used it in the field yet but just looking at it and loading my gear, it seems great. Smaller storage pocket has several internal smaller elastic mesh pockets to individually store your small items like knives, gloves, beanies and other stuff. The outside mesh pockets on the corners are large and fit a range finder very easy. The straps holding the outside pocket which folds down like a small table are strong and should hold well. The waist strap has a good size pocket on each side and is removable if not needed. I already fitted my rifle and bow in the sling and they both strap down tight and secure. The hydration pocket for a bladder is great. It will fit my 3 liter bag no problem and there is a nice plastic clip on the right shoulder strap to clip in the drink tube. There are also 2 clips to hold the water bladder at the top so the bag won't fall to the bottom of the pocket. Large storage pocket will fit plenty of gear and clothing. I think I could fit enough in there for a 3 day hunt. Rain cover and bow/rifle sling store away very neat and will stay out of the way if not needed. Zippers are very strong and pull tabs are held open with ribber coating for easy access with gloves. The pictures show a bow quiver attached to the side. Quiver is NOT included but shows how they easily attach to the side. Retail price from Alps OutdoorZ web site is $129.00 so Amazon's price is a great deal. I got mine a bit cheaper but I think Amazon made a pricing mistake so I won't tell you what I paid. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this pack.

This is the 3rd hunting specific backpack I've bought in the last 3 years. I also have a Badlands Source pack and GamePlan Gear Over-N-Under 3-in-1 Pack System. Both are really nice in their respective ways but I think the Alps Pursuit pack has finally given me everything I need. Hope this helps and happy hunting!

UPDATE 7/8/19: I've been using the pack in the field for turkey and deer hunting the past 2 years and it has lived up to everything I hoped it would be. Strap system works well for carrying either a rifle or bow and I have strapped both to the back. Will hold large size water bladder and all the gear you need for a full day or 2 trip. I have no complaints at all about this pack and nothing on this pack has failed to include zippers and stitching. You won't be disappointed with this pack.

Solohunter Review

Great Hunting Pack. This will be my third year owning and using this pack. I spend at least one day a week hiking/hunting a year. I have put many miles on this pack. Not many negative things I can say about this pack The pack has many sleeves great for organization. The fist issue I have had is I have difficulty keeping the hip strap cinched. It loosens up after some walking, so I have to constantly cinch it down. That has been an issue since day one. The other issue is that now after 3 years of heavy use the stitching on some of the stitching holding straps has come undone and now I cant use some straps. But I have honestly put a lot of weight on the pack. I use it with a 3L camelbak and have had zero issues with that. Also the zippers have never given me any issues, and have always worked flawlessly. I bow hunt most of the time and it holds my bow securely with the provided straps. It also secures my rifle perfectly. I would highly recommend this pack as a day hunting pack. Especially if you only use it during hunting season. This pack is not really designed to carry really heavy loads, like packing out meat from your harvest. If your looking for that I would recommend a pack with an external frame. All in all, Great pack for the money. I am satisfied with this product.

Great pack, big guys may want to try it on first.

Comfortable, lots of versatility, rain cover concept is slick.

Pros:

Lots of pockets, pretty easy to organize. Holds a lot of gear overall.

The first compartment is nice how it folds down with support straps to act as a shelf.

Has nubs for hanging a water bladder in the back compartment.

Cons:

Disappointed in the fit however. I'm 6'-1" and 230 lbs and from reading reviews thought this would be a great fit. I find myself loosening the shoulder straps quite far just to get the waist strap to be around my actual waist instead of my ribs. If you are a larger framed person I'd find it in person and try it on first before ordering. Overall seems like a great pack but I wish it was 6" taller from shoulder to waist.

Bow / gun strap is a little wimpy but I was able to attach my Remington 597 22LR rifle with scope and worked pretty well.

When pack is stuffed full it's tough to strap a rifle or bow on without it going wonky since the center of the pack sticks out further than the gun support on the bottom.

Overall I'd buy it again for the price and the features but still wish I could lower the belt slightly for fit and comfort.

Overall seems durable but my field tests are limited so far.

I've spent the past few years looking for the perfect bag for my hunts
by Jim Rizzo (5 out of 5 stars)

Just what I have been looking for! I've spent the past few years looking for the perfect bag for my hunts! I had it out in the field on a minnesota turkey hunt a few weeks ago and being able to carry my bird on the shoulder and have the gun held by my pack was perfect! Lots of pockets for my calls.

This past weekend I took it on a northern Ontario bear hunt and was once again pleased.

Can't be happier with the contraction and quality. 6 stars if I could.

Love it. Good Fit
by Ryan Boley. (4 out of 5 stars)

Researched to the point of obsession before I bought this one....The fit is good. I love the pockets and storage space. I guarantee you nobody put this thing through the wringer like I did straigt out of the box. I packed it to the gills and jumped on a plane to Montana. Used it for the 1st 10 days to hike in all weather conditions. Used it as a back rest, sat on it, shot off of it, etc. zippers, material, etc...all great and I swear this part is true. I shot an elk 7 miles from the truck. Loaded this pack with approx 75 pounds of meat along with having my rifle strapped to it and packed it out. Not the best on the back with no rigid frame and that much weight but it handled it. Pack was so heavy I needed help putting it on......Having said all that. MY ONLY COMPLAINT is that the strap buckles on the outside of pack came loose. Looks like they were single stitched and I starpped my jacket to it and didn't even start to snug up on it and one broke lose, the other almost did. Kind of bummed about that as it happened 1st day. Other than that it was a great pack. I used it for about 3 hours today in south FL.

Nice hydration for hunting
by Redhawk (4 out of 5 stars)
September 15, 2017

I needed a hydration pack for hunting - I hung a 2 liter bladder in this one and it works great. The hangers in the pack worked great and it fits into a separate sleeve form the main pack. Good room in the main pack and lots of pockets in the smaller compartment to keep things organized. The pack is a little on the heavy side - about 4.5 lbs by my scale. The pockets on the hip belt and good for small items but they will not hold an iPhone 6. Good adjustments on the straps to dial it in.

Update 10/23/17 - I used this for elk hunting and it worked well. The gun sling worked good and the neopreme strap on the back cradled my scope. I found the buckles/clasps a bit hard to open in the cold with bigger gloves on (about 28 degrees) but the zipper pulls were great. Overall impressed with the pack but my hydration bladder did not have an insulated hose and it froze. Side pockets can hold a 500ml bottle of water but not a larger 1000ml nalgene bottle

Excellent backpack for the price.

I used this backpack during bow season in Utah last year and was very happy with it. I was worried the construction wouldn't hold up because it is significantly cheaper than any other comparable backpacks that I found but it has not been a problem at all. It has held up to a lot of use so far and has not had a single durability issue. It would be really difficult to find a better bag in this price range.

Good bag for hunting.

Got my bag on time, was a little worried after reading some of the negative reviews BUT to my joy the bag is perfect for my survival day pack that I will use for bow season. Holds bow fine, holds all my day/emergency gear, and fits on my game pack frame for diving into the back country. The bag has a removable metal spine and belt harness comes off. It appears to be ready for going deep and hiking steep. I have taken it out and it holds up well. It does ride a little higher for a big dude's frame 6' 2", but I like it. It holds my stuff and is just what I wanted. I did read one review that said it would not hold your "take". But, it shouldn't, you need a frame and tie downs for that. Taking game is an ordeal that leads to 100s of lbs of meat, think of segmentation and this bag fits right in the mix.

This is my favorite bag
by Ben (5 out of 5 stars)
February 6, 2019

I have been using this bag for several months now. It has endless pockets for sorting and storage. The "table" feature of the back compartment is extremely handy when you are trying to balance several things all at once. I take this thing hiking, camping, hunting, and traveling. it makes a great travel bag that can hold all of your essentials, yet isn't as bulky as a full backpack. The amount of stuff I can comfortably jam into this bag is amazing. I really appreciate the dual front pockets for quick access. The holster space works well for a handgun or bear spray, and probably for whatever else you need strapped to your hip.

This is my second ALPS OutdoorZ bag, and I love them both, but this is my new favorite.
