Pretty on the outside, poorly built on the inside
by Crimson (2 out of 5 stars)

This is a very nice beautiful mouse with many perks. It runs well, looks pretty, is comfortable, has nice button placement, and is over all just awesome.

but!, that is all on the outside. This mouse worked for about 3 months and would start to disconnect non stop randomly. On the inside of the device it was trash. By far the worst workmanship I have ever seen in a device. Every solder joint looked like it was done by hand and done poorly at that. It had bridged connection, cracked solder, and a crap ton of other issues.

If the solder wasn't placed by a machine, it looked like crap.

It wasn't till years later that I decided to say screw it and open the mouse up to see what was wrong and I was appalled at how badly this was put together.

I got the two boards on the mouse, heat gunned the entire boards then re soldered everything by hand.

What was stopping the mouse from working was a bridged connection from solder to the main lines etched into the board causing the mouse to short out everytime the mouse flexed from movement.

As of now I have had the mouse running for hours and is working great once I fixed it.

But after seeing the workmanship and "quality control" razer has put into there products. I will never buy another product from them again.

No matter how nice it looks.

Rechargeable functionality a joke
by D (2 out of 5 stars)

Pretty good mouse for the first 2 months, BUT the battery functionality is awful! After 2 months of use, the battery will implode and will no longer allow the mouse to function until removed. This didn't happen once but three times. After contacting Razor the said if the find an extra battery around they would send it to me.... There was no, oh sorry that happen that isn't normal. They know about this and said that the battery isn't covered under the mouse warranty.......

Only reason for the two stars is because I can use the mouse without the battery plugged in, but they really even shouldn't get that because that is the whole reason I got it.

Image shows the back edges of the battery cover being blown out from the expanded battery.

Returned

I've been using a wired razer deathadder for the past 5-6 years and it's the most comfortable gaming mouse ever imo. I wanted to try going wireless, not that it's a big deal, the cable hardly ever gets in the way, but alas I thought I would try the mamba since it has good reviews. A quick summary of my experience and why I returned it

pros:
- good scroll wheel, similar design to deathadder which has the best scrollwheel ever imo
- nice charging stand

cons:
- for some reason razer added these strange sharp edges on both left and right sides of the mouse. you can feel them whenever you old the mouse. why they changed the smooth surface as found on the deathadder and went with this is design is strange, but if you're coming from a mouse that is smooth all around with curves, yo will instantly feel these edges.
- the 2 small buttons on the left mouse click were very flimsy and weren't flush with the rest of the mouse. meaning if you slide your index finger which sits on left mouse over them, you will feel the sharp edges of those small buttons because they stick out a little. Not something I expected from razer on a quality mouse
- a little on the heavy side but it's a wireless mouse with an internal battery so that's to be expected. I could live with the added weight if the above 2 problems didn't exist.

Overall, not a bad mouse, but mice are subjective as we all have different shaped hands so get whichever works best for you. 6 years on and I still haven't been able to find a replacement that is as comfortable and well made as the deathadder and I've tried some of the best mice like the mamba, g900, g502, etc.

warning the battery on some off the older Razers are defective and can explode or do what mine did blow up like a balloon and it got stuck in the mouse, I had to use a butter knife to get it out. Razer is awar of the problem. Other then the battery problem this is a great gaming mouse I have not had any problems with it except for the battery. works great both as a wireless and wired mouse. it fits comfortably in my handI do recommend this mouse great buy just keep an eye on the battery.

Great device, terrible battery
by SMR (3 out of 5 stars)
March 20, 2017

Overall, this is a good product, as I would expect from Razer.

However, the battery life is terrible. It won't even last a full day at work (got me about 5-6 hours of use) whereas I have a Logitech G900 that I use on a daily basis and haven't had to recharge in over a week. I suspect this is because the Mamba does not appear to have a battery saving 'auto-off' feature like the G900 (or maybe I am just missing something here). Either way, it's not suitable for long-term, daily use and I can imagine this would cause a major issue for gaming if the device dies in the middle of being used.

If you can deal with the short battery life, go for it. Otherwise, don't purchase this mouse with the hopes that you will get more than 6 hours of life out of it.

Great product, rather sub-par quality...
by E Boomer (3 out of 5 stars)

I love wireless gaming mice in general, and I personally didn't feel any lag, and the mouse didn't seem too heavy to me (which are really the only potential downsides as I understand it). I also didn't really mind the price for the benefit of being wireless. This mouse however had some issues for me...

From fairly early on, the left and right clicking action would feel rough and squeaky every now and then. It was reminiscent of nails on a chalkboard. Not that I'm easily annoyed by weird sounds, but it was an unpleasant rubbing sensation to the touch when I clicked. The problem tapered off on its own very gradually with a LOT of use (hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay over the course of years).

The syncing was really always annoying at best and problematic at worst. Pressing the sync button NEVER did ANYTHING. Instead, there was a specific, and as far as I know undocumented, sequence of docking, docking/undocking, turning off, plugging in the wire, turning it back on, and such, to transition between charging and wireless operation that did work fairly reliably, though I didn't reliably always remember just what that sequence was.

This did consistently work for me for years, annoying and frustrating though it was, until I upgraded to Windows 10, at which point no combination of anything I tried could possibly get this thing to work in wireless mode. So then I had an overpriced wired mouse.

Also, I found the software REALLY annoying. Every time you would unplug the mouse in trying to get the darn thing to sync, the driver software would give you an error message and close. It would constantly be in my face asking to update the driver software, but every time I tried it failed. It would often randomly forget its sensitivity settings, often in the middle of gameplay, reducing the sensitivity so much that I had to pan across the mouse pad several times to go across the screen.

After this experience where it wasn't working properly mechanically, electronically, and in software, in what seems to be more or less their flagship product, personally I'm shying away from Razer in the future. If the quality were better, I do think the mouse did control quite well, so it would have gotten a better rating from me. Hopefully my experience was not typical.

Good mouse but good enough for it's price tag
by HvsJ (3 out of 5 stars)

Good mouse but not good enough for it's price tag. There are many problems that are associated in this mouse, (mostly regarding wireless use)

Wanted to use it mostly wireless which did not happen due to many different problems that occurred.

Pros, (Wired)

Great looking mouse, which i believed accommodates a gamer's taste. In addition this mouse has many different settings which can be fine-tuned and adjusted to fit one's needs for gaming. It is also responsive due to the sensors provided in this mouse which is truly a must have in my gaming experience.

This mouse is one of the most comfortable one that i have held compared to Logitech mouse that i have bought in the past. There are a variety of useful buttons enough for the average gamer which are very useful depending on the games being played.

The LED lights that emits from this mouse is bright and appealing giving it a unique and sexy look. Further more the mouse looks very nice in person in which words cannot even describe how perfect it looks.

Cons, (wireless)

Buying this mouse, i intended to use is it mostly wirelessly, however, i was not able to do so.

At most times there are problems in syncing the mouse and the receiver all together. Even when they do sync there is big problem in the sensitivity (For some reason it turns really slow, even with my default settings being used with the razer synapes and driver) Also the software is unusable and would freeze and close and sometimes not even start (windows 7)

The battery life on this battery is also not very good (even with LED lights off) for a mouse priced this high, it definitely does not meet expectations. And as months pass by, the battery started to swell, which i find dangerous (i disposed of it properly).

Overall i was not able to use this mouse given the price tag that it has and the features it offered.

Great mouse for wired use, but basically unusable for wireless.
-1 Star for unusable wireless mode
-1 Star for Price(Price to high since wireless mode is useless

Poor Battery life, and more...
by Kendra Stankovich (2 out of 5 stars)
November 17, 2016

I did not have this mouse long as it suffers from poor battery design. I am not sure if it was just my battery or not but I couldn't even squeeze an eight hour day out if it. This was also with light/causal (no gaming) use.

Charging also seem to be an issue. If charged from the base it would take upwards to 20 hours for a full charge. I made it a point to keep the mouse on the base overnight (while sleeping). Never did I wake and have a full charge, so it was like fighting losing up hill battle from the start.

The scroll wheel was loose. It came with a fair amount of play from left to right. In addition, if pushed to the right it would trigger the middle mouse click.

The Razer software was ok, however, upon initial installation of the mouse and software I run into issues resulting in having to re-install the software several times in order to get the device and application to function correctly.

I can recommend a Razer DeathAdder, but I can not recommend the Mamba.

Inconsistent performance and reliability
by ~ (2 out of 5 stars)

When the left button of my Razer Mamba from 2009 finally failed about six months ago, I went through the classic six stages of grief for the most part. I knew it had to happen eventually but parting with my favorite mouse by far and long time partner was still hard. For a while I had no idea what to replace it with, but in the end, decided to get the updated 2012 version with the expectation and hope it would be similar to the 2009 version in function and quality; perhaps without a squeaky* mouse wheel though. Sadly it turns out the 2012 version is much inferior to the original Mamba and one I recommend avoiding. If you are looking for a wireless mouse I highly suggest looking at other brands, or possibly the Razer Chroma which may not suffer from the same issues as the 2012 Mamba.

The main problems I have with this mouse are:
- Getting it working the first place took over an hour of fiddling with Razer software and I still have no idea why the mouse suddenly decided to start communicating with Razer Synapse. I have not changed the settings since the initial configuration so I can't say how consistently temperamental this is.
- A few times an hour mouse input will suffer considerable lag, in the 3-5 second range, and drop some inputs altogether.
- Periodically the mouse will stop working until you have fiddled (power cycle, dock/undock, unplug the dock. &c.) with it sufficiently.
*The squeak was not from it's honorable service duration, but an original problem it had since it was brand new.

Extra programmable buttons for gaming/Photoshop/Unity and it was wireless (because I'm not exactly t
by Patrick (4 out of 5 stars)
June 8, 2016

When I first got Razor's Mamba it had everything I wanted. Extra programmable buttons for gaming/Photoshop/Unity and it was wireless (because I'm not exactly the greatest at cable management outside of my pc build). The mouse feels great in the hand when using it for whatever task going on, the scroll wheel has a lot of surface and has a tactile motion that is perfect to me, not to stiff and not too lose. At the end of the day, I'm a big fan of this mouse.

However, after a couple weeks the battery went bad. The Li-ion battery started swelling, so I took the battery out and this mouse has been in corded mode since. Now I know that I could have easily gotten a replacement battery from Razer, but coming from a corded mouse prior it wasn't a big deal. Do I regret buy the mouse even though it's missing one feature I purchased it for? No, it's a great mouse and wired or not it works flawlessly.

I've tried a good deal of (wired and wireless) mice over the years and I keep going back to the 2012 Mamba. I am however about to try Logitech's MX Master wireless mouse and from what I've seen and heard about it; it's a pretty perfect wireless mouse, more so than it's predecessor the Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX. I'll write a review on the MX Master once I get it in and spend some time with it.
