Really love this thing... makes enjoying the outdoors much more enjoyable and less itchy. Overall it works great and was at a good price. My only nitpick is that it would be nice if they (thermacell) made it easier to re-fill the pads and cartridges on your own... even if it meant a higher initial cost. I would like to see it come with 2 or 3 refillable butanes and 5 pads. Then maybe they could sell chemicals to refresh your pads and even larger butane cylinders to refill them (though they aren't hard to convert).... even if they just had a clear way to refresh the pads that would be awesome.

You have an awesome product on your hands... make it a little cheaper to use and you will have a real hit.

It Really Works!!

I have to say I was skeptical, as most mosquito repellent systems just don't work. I have now used the Thermacell several days while bow hunting, and am quite honestly amazed at how well it works. I typically wait until I have a few pesky mosquitoes buzzing around before I even turn it on. Within just a few minutes, the unit has warmed up and started dispersing scent, and boy does it work. Not only do mosquitoes no longer bother me, but seems to work on most all annoying bugs. As proof that it works, I turned the unit off one evening before climbing down from my stand. Within a matter of minutes, I had mosquitoes all around me. No longer will I do that, I'll keep this thing on all the way back to the ground. Worth every penny, would highly recommend giving it a try.

Thermacell has been a Godsend for me. I don't fish or hunt, but I love being outside in the summer at festivals, concerts, barbeques or just sitting on my back porch with an adult beverage. In the past, unless I was drenched in foul smelling bug spray, I had to cut these activities short because I would be tortured by mosquitos. I didn't just get bites, I got WELTS the size of a quarter. Now, I take the Thermacell everywhere I go and NOT ONE BITE. It's a miracle. Thank you. Worth every penny!

It really works well. I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 because the supplies don't last as long as they say they do. Buy an extra supply when you buy this. Also,you can't use it if you're just running outside for 15 minutes to water plants or something,because it takes a while to warm up. And a while to cool down, so the pads are still working while the machine cools. Turn off the machine a few minutes before you go inside or whatever, so you're getting the benefits without wasting supplies.

P.S. the one with the "earth scent" is just the same one, with different supplies provided. I got this one because it was on sale while the other one wasn't, and then bought a pack of regular supplies and use those.

The Thermacell is effective so long as the conditions are not too breezy. Our original unit lasted two seasons before the igniter failed. The company repaired the unit and returned it in good working order in just over a week.

This review is duplicate of the one I posted on the ThermaCELL refill page.

I used this while blind hunting for boar in a Georgia swamp. Needless to say, the mosquitoes were plentiful but the ThermaCELL worked amazingly. Not only did I not receive a single bite in three days of stationary hunting, but the mosquitoes never came within 15 feet of me! Each pad lasted 4 hours and the butane cartridge lasted 12 hours, so the 3-to-1 ratio is effective as advertised.

If you're planning to pick up a ThermaCELL, do yourself a favor and get the holster, too. This baby gets HOT after running for several hours and I wouldn't want to throw it into my pack with gear or clothing. The holster can also hold a refill in each side pouch, so you could easily carry enough for 36 hours of protection (1 butane tank installed, 2 in the holster, and 9 pads).

Excellent product to keep the mosquitos away. This thing is easy to use, doesn't smell or smoke, and requires very little assembly/maintenance to keep it working.

Turn the knob and push the button and it works. For the ease of use and reliability, it is definitely worth the money. You will want to order some refill butane and pads if you plan to use it quite a bit. I will get about 12 hours of total use out of one butane tank and pad. The equipment warms up, not hot enough to burn you or a child who grabs it the wrong way.

FYI, I was the guy who gets EATEN by mosquitos while everyone else is fine. The ThermaCELL seriously saves me from the discomfort of swatting them and scratching the bites.

Best mosquito repellent on the market

I have been using ThermaCELL products for years. These mosquito repellents are the only ones I have found to effectively keep mosquitoes away. I normally buy 4 to 6 new ones every spring because I wear out the other ones during the previous spring and summer. The only negative I can say is often times the first thing that wears out is the spark generator inside the unit and there is no real way to repair it. So that's why I buy new ones every year, and it is worth it to me to spend the money to keep the mosquitoes away.

Absolutely love the thermacell. I hunt in Northwest Texas and during archery season there is an abundance of bugs that will pester you throughout the entire day and with this unit I don't have as much as a mosquito coming within 5 feet of me while this unit is running. the scent that is deployed from this unit does not interfere or bother any of the wildlife that I am hunting. I've had deer within 5 feet of me while it is running and they didn't even as much as look in my direction so I'm very confident when I use this unit that it will not disturb or interfere with my hunting at all

I was super skeptical of this device because if there is a mosquito within 3 miles of me, it will bite me! However, I can now enjoy my patio with the rest of the family! There is a super light earthy smell but its not disruptive or overbearing.
