Blade was damaged upon receipt
by David W. Holmes (2 out of 5 stars)
January 17, 2018

As received, the package was in great condition. Removed the tool from the carton and the head looked a little scuffed, but I didn't think much of it (it is going to get used, after all). The blade is protected by a small piece of rubber trim (trust me, if you're going to keep this, you will probably want to shell out the extra $25.00 for the sheath that is not included (I know, right?). When I removed the blade cover, I found the edge to be severely damaged, looks like someone dropped it or threw it against a wall before the protection was added. I think the trim piece would have protected it from this, and I see no real evidence of damage to the protective piece to indicate it received an impact that would do this kind of damage. Overall, I think the tool as advertised would suit my needs, I'm just not real happy with the tool I received.

Weird N deadly implement
by Jay C. Everson (5 out of 5 stars)
January 10, 2018

I love this thing for a few reasons..a utilitarian non conventional design..very well made. Its kind of oddball mix of things..an axe! a nail puller! a crowbar! a hammer! .Its just a badass weird tool that a home intruder would probably just drop your stuff and run when you came out of the bedroom closet with this..they should give these to marines fighting isis just for the sheer destruction / terror factor..you could clear rooms full of people with this withoutbreaking a sweat. Ash from Evil Dead wishes he had this..its implicit deadliness is apparent..people nervously laugh when you pull this out..it have a grim medieval quality to it...

The description of the tool says that the length is ...
by Jessica A. (2 out of 5 stars)
January 29, 2018

The description of the tool says that the length is 19.2 inches but actually measures at 18 1/4 inches. It's shorter than advertised. Also, the logo design is different than pictured and the "made in USA" stamp is missing...it seems as if the product is not at all the same as what's advertised.

Where Has This Been All of My Life ???
by lw (5 out of 5 stars)
April 6, 2017

These things are freaking great ! I ended up buying 3 because some friends of mine had to have one too. I keep it packed in the back of my jeep for off-roading. I will say the sheath that is sold separate should be purchased with this to better protect the blade and yourself from the blade. To give you an idea about what this is like to hold, pick up a very large claw hammer. That's about how it feels in your hand and it's about the same kind of steel as well. The blade is sharp, the grip is great and it has just the right amount of heft to it. This has become one of my favorite tools.

Overall better than Dead-On Annihilator
by William Spillman (5 out of 5 stars)
August 15, 2013

This is a handy tool for lots of things as other reviews will tell you, but with all the FUBARs and Annihilators and other multi-use hammer/prybar combo tools out there, how does it compare? As owner of one of the best of these tools, the 18-inch Dead-On Annihilator, I can tell you.
(Note that my review of the Annihilator will tell you the difference between the 14-inch and 18-inch versions of that tool, if you're comparing those.)

Feel: The Trucker's Friend is lighter than the Annihilator thanks to its fiberglass handle where the Annihilator is all steel with a hard plastic sleeve around the grip. The Friend's actual grip is shock-absorbing rubber designed to provide an extremely good grip even if you have on thick gloves. The ridges are set to keep it from sliding out of your hand. The Annihilator's grip is hard plastic and does not aid grip or absorb shock at all, and was my main complaint about that tool. Using the Annihilator as a hammer without padded gloves is painful.

Construction: The Trucker's Friend is well-made. It has enough steel below the blade and hammer poll to protect the handle from overstrikes, and the steel is good axe-steel, probably drop-forged. The fiberglass handle is stronger than most people could break. The Annihilator stood up to two days of demolishing a fence for me, but reviews for it show that others aren't so lucky, so there may be quality-control issues with that tool. The Friend doesn't appear to have that problem. Since MY Annihilator is fine, I'll call this a tie.

Power: The heavier weight of the Annihilator should make strikes with it more powerful than the Friend, but it doesn't because too much of the weight is in the shaft. The Annihilator's thick steel shaft counterbalances the head too much, so a lot of power you put into a swing doesn't go to the striking end. Add to that the butt spike on the Annihilator which keeps you from holding it at the end for maximum leverage, and it's not as good a hammer as it should be, even if you use it with both hands. The Trucker's Friend, however, is very well-balanced, with all the steel in the head and the grip at the end, so you lose little power in a swing. The location of the hammer head and center of the axe blade is not ideal for striking/chopping, being a little too far from the tip, but it's as good as possible if you want that prybar tip. Using the Friend with one hand is at least as powerful as the Annihilator with two. The Trucker's Friend is hands-down better in this category.

Prying: This is one area where the Annihilator is a decent tool, better than a claw hammer but not as good as a real prybar. The Trucker's Friend is the same in that regard, but a little more versatile because of the two prying claws. The one on the end is just like you'd find on the straight end of a prybar and works great for all the same things. The one on the hammer poll is a little awkward, but will give you great leverage on those jobs where it works. The grip helps a lot with this, too, and the fiberglass handle is strong enough that few people could break it. I'd call this category close, but with an edge to the Trucker's Friend.

Nail pulling: This was the Annihilator's best category, with three separate nail pullers, and I'd say it was the best single nail-pulling tool I've found. The Friend is definitely not as good for this job. A claw hammer would be better, in fact, but it will get the job done. Annihilator wins this category.

Axe: The Annihilator doesn't have an axe blade, but it does have a drywall blade and you can use the prybar head as a splitter or general destroyer. The Friend it better either way. The rounded blade isn't actually very good for chopping wood, as it's likely to glace off if you miss slightly, but it would make it even better for destroying drywall than the blade on the Annihilator, and is far better than using the prybar head for chopping. The Trucker's Friend is the clear winner here.

Other Tools: The Friend and the Annihilator both have tools that I've never used. The Friend has a chain hook, which probably would be very useful for an actual trucker, while the Annihilator has a board straightener that, frankly, I can't see how it works. Since these tools are specialized, you have to decide for yourself which would be better. However, the spike on the butt end of the Annihilator makes using it awkward and a little dangerous and actually makes it less useful, while the Friend has no such detrimental tools.

Overall, the Trucker's Friend is lighter, makes a better hammer and axe, and easier on the hands than the Annihilator. It's easier to hold onto and carry, and you don't have to worry about stabbing yourself. Unless you need one of the tools on the Annihilator that the Friend doesn't have, I definitely recommend the Trucker's Friend for general use. That said, it is not as good as having a hatchet, claw hammer, and prybar, but it's so light and handy that it's easy to have in your vehicle or pack, and having this is much better than having one or none of those other tools.

All Purpose is Right!
by RamDogTango (5 out of 5 stars)

Incredible tool. Have already used it to get someone out of a really badly crashed car and saved their life. Car was on fire after the accident and they were trapped. Almost as good as a Jaws of Life tool, but far easier to use, and when the Fire department is still 20 minutes away, can save a life. Good job people.

All purpose demo tool.
by Chance P. (5 out of 5 stars)
March 5, 2018

Ordered this knowing what I'd get into, with (in my opinion) its companion piece, the Stanley STHT55134 FUBAR Demolition Bar. Works amazing. Bashed through an old giant hybrid swingset fort thing earlier that had about a billion nails and screws holding it together. Was able to salvage the right pieces, and destroy the correct pieces. Smashed and pried through everything with barely a scuff in like five minutes. Pretty ridiculous. Would have taken forever, been dangerous, and cost five times as much with all the other BS tools as the normal brick and mortar stores around. It does light prying, but really need the crowbar if you ever need to get deeper in. Also the crowbar gets the nails out a little faster. Trucker tool mangles right through lighter steel and aluminum like it's absolutely nothing also. These two tools together and you can do practically anything.

Can't wait to find out what else I can apply these bad boys too.

Actual item delivered is ways off from the pictures
by James A. (2 out of 5 stars)

Theres a vast difference between what you see in the pictures compared to what was delivered to me. General appearance is roughly the same but what i recieved has differences in build quality especially in the handle and how the axe head is attached. What you see in the photos the axe head has a longer attachment to the handle marked with 'made in usa'. Mine only has a short attachment and no marking. Plus they used super glue to fix the rubber grip and axe head to the fiberglass handle. You can see a lot of excess dried super glue. Terrible workmanship. Questionable if this can handle the tasks it was made for. I could give it 5 stars if not for the terrible build quality.

This crazy aggressive all purpose tool is priceless.

It's heavy, sharp and practical.

Most of all...

I love that is says "Truckers Friend" on the side.

I keep it in my SUV and nobody believes it's a trucker's tool but who cares!

Kinda cheap....
by matthew russo (2 out of 5 stars)
August 20, 2018

Much smaller than advertised. The neck is much smaller than the picture and it does not say made in the USA on the neck. This seems to be a cheaper version of what is advertised. The sticker says made in USA but I hope that they didn't send me the cheap chinese 440 version.
