Worth it for your spine
by LizA (5 out of 5 stars)
August 31, 2013

I cringed a little paying for what I considered to be the "more expensive" option of all stands that are available.

However, I can see there are a few reasons it's completely worth it:
1. Solid metal body
2. Vented
3. Dials with degree display
4. Soft arm resting pad (HUGE benefit!!!)
5. Does NOT require you to affix any Velcro to your computer.

I'm using it with my 17" macbook and I have at least 3 spare inches. The stand legs don't even touch my thighs (and I'm considered "curvy). :)

I'm a full-time professional by day and a full time master's student by night. I have a back condition called spondylolisthesis. To maintain spinal health I: do a lot of yoga, see an acupressure chiropractor, and use my inversion table and foam roller at home. However, when I start school, I notice that the hours on the computer add up too much and display themselves symptomatically in my back and body health.

So, I bought this desk along with a yoga bolster and a "chair" pillow (pillow that has arms).

This gives me a whole new computing position and helps with not compressing my spine the WHOLE time I'm on the computer all day.

Really good as a standing up desk, worth the money, best buy for me in 2016, if not of all time.
by polstar1983 (5 out of 5 stars)

Best purchase of 2016 for me. This desk is a life saver. It lets you work on a computer in many places around the house or office, sitting or standing. I find that the wrist alignment is quite neutral. For best results you can also use this as a stand for the laptop, and use a USB keyboard underneath - further helping those wrists! You might think, how can I see the keyboard, well, I don't have to. Years of coding mean that I remember key positions or can correct text very quickly. The finish in this item is great - I got the standard one in black with no spray finish. I could have gotten the one with a fan or two fans (different company name - slightly cheaper), because my laptop gets hot sitting on a wood desk, but the metal surface acts as a great heat sink! And I use my laptop 15 hours a day. As for stability I would give it 5 stars vertically, but 3.5 stars horizontally. It wobbles from side to side a tiny bit - but crucially not enough for me to be worried or upset or to send this back, because the other desks cost 100s of dollars. Again, there are many positions you can put the desk in, and am writing this review while using it, with a bad back sitting upright on a couch. Finally, it does not sag very much - you might think that when setting up, I did. But once it settles under your wrist weight - it is sturdy! I would like to think you will find this review useful because usually they are not and I looked at 5 models before getting this.

One of the best laptop stands out there
by Digital Diva (5 out of 5 stars)
January 29, 2012

I spent HOURS looking for a laptop stand (work from home & just needed something to use when I didn't feel like sitting at my desk or needed a change of scenery). I ordered 3 different kinds - Lapinator Plus! (WAY overpriced & too small, I returned) and Myplace Laptop Table Workstation (which I also kept). I loved the fact this has so many angles/options, came assembled & is intuitive to figure out (not only how to use but how to adjust height/angle, etc). It's exactly as described, feels very sturdy & high-quality, and gives me a lot of options. Worth the price & highly recommended.

Great laptop table
by Troy (4 out of 5 stars)
September 3, 2012

I had been looking for a laptop desk/table/tray like this for some time; at one point, before discovering this product, I had seriously considered designing and constructing my own. Fortunately I found this first, because it is, in all respects, nearly identical to what I had in mind. I did not, however, purchase the product immediately upon finding it, largely in part due to the poor reviews by some people regarding the joints/buttons. I cannot speak for them, and it's entirely possible that early models had a manufacturing problem, but I can say that's not the case anymore. That being said, here is my review:

Basic Overview

First off, I will only recommend this particular model, I know there are others, so don't take my review and think that it will apply to those models, because it might not.

This model is made out of very sturdy aluminum and is brushed silver; looks very nice and techie (for those of you that care about looks)

The overall weight of the product is very light, so it is easy to push around, pick-up, etc.

The joints are solid black plastic with aluminum buttons; there are three joints (adjustments points) on each side that gives you a wide range of settings/setup

The buttons can be difficult to press, because both the spring and the locks must be strong enough to not only support the weight of your laptop, but you banging on it. So to make adjustments, it does take a good bit of strength to depress the button; and from my personal experience, it should only be done without the laptop sitting on it. There have been a couple times when I went to adjust the tray and the buttons did not depress, but simply applying some pressure on the leg while pushing in the button resolved that; not unlike having to turn a cap on a bottle backwards to get the threads to line up.

The tray on this model is vented and has two fans with a single USB plug on it. The fans are silent and do a good job of keeping the laptop cool. The tray itself never seems to even get warm.

At the front of the tray, there are two plastic clips that are locked into a slot on the front, allowing them to slide left/right. These clips are intended to help hold the laptop from sliding off when the tray is placed at steep inclines. While they do a moderately good job of this, they're better suited for slim line laptops like the Mac Book Air thing. If you own a real laptop and not a toy, you're going to find these clips will be unable to hold your laptop in place if you intend to have the tray at nearly upright positions like they show in some of the product pictures. A better solution, IMHO, for that would be to purchase some Velcro dots that you put on both the bottom of your laptop and on the tray to keep it in position, but this is not something that I have had to do myself, since I do not use the tray at those kinds of inclined positions.

A bit of a side note in all this:

I have lower back problems, what does that have to do with anything? Everything, for the first time I can lay on the floor when my back hurts with this tray positioned so that I can actually do work and feel like I'm being productive, instead of just laying on the floor like like a lump of useless flesh. This was one of my goals with getting something like this, and it works perfectly for just this kind of situation.

Some possible cons and nitpicking
1. The instructions aren't great, and it took me a bit to figure out how to get the legs/tray oriented, but once you spend some time with it, you'll most likely figure out a couple positions that work for you, and you'll never need that page again
2. If you are heavy, large, big boned, over weight, an NFL line backer, Professional Body Builder or Shaquille o'Neal, this tray probably isn't going to be wide enough for you. If the manufacture were smart, they'd make a larger size for larger people.
3. If you have arthritis or are in your older (aka golden years) and lack hand strength, you may find making adjustments to this tray impossible; that maybe a deal killer for some of you out there, so I thought I should mention it.
4. The surface of the tray is rather smooth, and while it has the aforementioned clips on the front to help keep the laptop in place, it's not going to help much if you intend to use the tray at steep inclines. I don't believe this is a deal killer, it just might require some invention on your part to figure out how best to keep your laptop affixed to the tray (see my previous remarks about Velcro)

Recommendations for the manufacture:
1. The price is to high for most people. I'd really like to see this around the $30-40 price point, I think you'd get far better market penetration if you lowered the price. If someone is trying to determine if they should try/buy your product unseen, like many do here on Amazon, the current price point can be a deal breaker.
2. You all need to get with Dell and/or Apple, personally I'd try Dell, and get them to resell your product. It's good enough and there's nothing else like it on the market.

TL;DR: I recommend this laptop tray to anyone that's been looking for a solid, adjustable tray that can be used just about any place. While the entry price is steep, if you can wing it, it's worth it and there's nothing else on the market currently like it; at least nothing I have personally seen or can recommend at this time.

Cheap plastic joints, not 100% Aluminum
by Angie (2 out of 5 stars)
January 23, 2017

To start with, the website description '100% Aluminum Alloy Composition ' is inaccurate, it has at least all joints made of plastic, every time I put my 15" Pro on this the legs spread a bit and it certainly doesn't feel sturdy while using the keyboard for typing. It may be ok for very mild use like watching videos ( so u are not touching the laptop non the stand again) or for other uses. Not for someone who wants to work on for couple of hours.

I bought this due to misleading website description, not worth the money. Will try one my friend recommended which has zinc / mag alloy joint and very solid build

Wish I would have found this a few years ago!

So glad I decided to purchase this thing. I am a digital illustrator/artist and I have a wacom cintiqu companion I use to do all of my artwork. But I am a tall guy and hover over the top of my desk surface quite a bit so I was always feeling really hunched over the tablet. Now I am able to raise the drawing tablet up to a much more comfortable height/angle for me and it has made a world of difference. I was very happy with how nicely the joints lock into place. I was also amazed at how sturdy it has been given that it really does not weigh very much. I highly recommend.

Still love it!

Love this. I'm even able to balance it on the bed so I can work on my laptop while lying down (which is helpful with my chronic pain).

Highly recommend this for people who want to compute but are in too much pain to sit up, or people who like being online lying down. (Don't be weird about it. You do you.)

One of the things that I enjoyed is a design feature where the socket that holds the leg in place has a split that, if the leg is accidentally pulled out of the socket, won't let the joint break easily. It's meant to give a little without compromising the plastic. And that's what happened to me. After a little inspection of the area I figured out how to disassemble and reassemble the leg so that the tray is good as new.

There's a tiny screw underneath the rounded side of the tray next to the joint; unscrew that. You can pull out the leg by sliding it from the main socket (the one connected to the flat tray, it takes some gentle, steady tugging). You can then pull out the socket from the tray. There are three screws holding a plate that connects to that joint. Unscrew them, gently lift the plate away and you have access to assemble the pieces (mind the cutout designs that they match up) Set the button to 60 degrees (positive, not negative) when reassembling the pieces, replace the plate and three screws, insert it into the tray so that the 0 degree mark aligns with the side of the tray and the first screw hole (remember, the button will be pointed at 60 degrees. Later when you reattach the leg and push the button in to adjust it, it will become flush with the tray at 0 degrees). Screw the remaining screw and it's fixed. So if you need to replace the spring or reattach the leg it's an easy job. I'll add pics later and edit this.

fine product. I would get it again.

Vent: The name "Furinno Adjustable Vented Laptop Table Laptop Computer Desk Portable Bed Tray Book Stand Multifuctional & Ergonomics Design Dual Layer Tabletop" is completely ridiculous & useless outside of a database search context.

I'll call it Furinno standing desk or keyboard shelf.
~~~~~~~
Works fine. It has a little bit of jiggle, but it's really quite rigid. I just leave it set up and set it beside or under my desk if I want to sit down. The joints ("locking hinges") seem very durable. I when I work them, I feel like the designers made the right decision on the hardware here.
If I was moving around alot, it seems like it would be easy enough to fold & open up again, although to this end I must mention:
1) There would definitely be some small learning curve to climb before one could open it to the desired height with all 6 joints at matching angles.
2) I would want to put marks on the joints at the positions to which I would most often open them. Even so, the joints come marked in 15 degree ticks, so if you want to put the brainpower into it, you could ID and remember the degree settings for each pair of joints.
Also, if I was taking this thing around to different places, I'd want to put it in a bag. Although it's very lightweight, and length and the legs make it a bit unwieldy. It's too long for my laptop bag. Consider how to address this issue if you anticipate taking this with you.
The only strange thing about this is that this product line didn't seem to have any mouse shelf associated with it -- at least at the time I bought it.) If you plan to put a laptop on it & are content with its built-in mouse interface, the following will not apply to you: A colleague refered me to this Furrino stand and LapWorks Wizard MouzPad (size 6-1/4 x 7-3/4 inches) - Mouse Pad Platform & Adjustable Angle Leg Clamp only - DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WIZARD DESK STAND, LAPTOP OR MOUSE.
, so I bought both items together. No regrets with that -- it's like they're made for each other.
Portability consideration: The LapWorks MouzPad hase a very nice clamp, but it is not quick-release. My comments about carrying the standing desk apply without the mouse shelf attached, so they apply even more so with the shelf attached.
Lasted exactly 2 years
by zsoumya (3 out of 5 stars)
I was extremely satisfied with this product since I bought this from Amazon in April 2013. However, after normal usage of about 2 years (I am a programmer who used this table for a few hours a day. The computer used is a Lenovo T530 and I am not a gamer. My point is, the table wasn't subjected to unusual amount of stress) one of the legs broke off at a joint. I should say I am a bit disappointed.
Perfect for me in all places I've used it
by Vicki L (5 out of 5 stars)
This has been the best laptop table. Over the past 5 years, I've had two significant injuries which required me to stay in bed for extended periods of time. This laptop table has been literally the difference between being able to keep my job and losing it. Because I can work remotely from home, I have been able to stay employed and doing my work despite my injuries.
A big concern of mine was whether the sides were wide enough to go around me. I'm a big gal with big hips and the tray table fits around me AND the blankets!
The adjustability of the kegs and the stand make this usable in nearly any position you need to be in. The legs and tray click into position and STAY THERE, so you don't have to worry about it drifting to another position.
I've used it in bed, on the couch, in a big easy chair and more. All perfect. Truly one of the best computer gadgets I've ever purchased.
