Helped me identify Aspergillus mold attacking my lungs.

(2015) I purchased this kit after finding mold on some of my stored clothing. I dry cleaned the clothing and wore them but developed an increasingly bad cough and severe sinus congestion plus asthmatic attacks when in my apartment. I had no fever. On finding that dry-cleaning does not kill mold (just removes the appearance) I wondered if I had inhaled some of the mold spores from the clothing.

So I bought this test, and I tested the walls of the closet in which the moldy clothes had been stored. It showed positive for only the Aspergillus mold.

After that I got a blood test for Aspergillus IgG, IgM, and IgE... these showed that I had an active infection of aspergillus mold in my body. I have now been battling the internal aspergillus infection for almost 2 years. I had to move out of my apartment and get rid of most of my belongings. I have taken high dose Lugol's iodine to kill the mold (200-300 mg per day) and it took over 3 months to clear the mold out of my sinuses (so clogged I could not breath through my nose or hear out of one ear) and get rid of the asthma attacks. Additional breathing in of nascent iodine in a nebulizer, taking grapefruit seed extract, and staying off of sugars, high dose vitamin C, etc has helped me cough up many mucus plugs of grayish rubbery plugs until my lungs now feel clear and I can lie down to sleep again at night. If it were not for this test, I might still be wondering what happened and be breathing in (mold-increasing) nebulizers, instead of getting rid of the root problem causing the asthma and severe congestion.

UPDATE 2018:

After 2 years of high dose iodine, and putting iodine (Lugols) into my nebulizer and neti pot, my blood IgG for Aspergillus had dropped from over 180 to the high 50s. I dropped my daily dose of Iodoral from 300 mg (not mcg) to 200 mg for another year (checking my thyroid from time to time to make sure it was reasonably OK). After my Asperigillus IgG went into the normal range I got another CT scan which showed that the polyps in my lungs were gone. I know that I probably will never be totally mold-free but I thank God that after a year of no high dose iodine (I only take it now if I get a cold or infection of any kind) and taking much more Vitamin C, my blood markers remain in the normal range, my lungs are clear, my sinuses are clear, and my ears are clear. The severity of my aspergillosis was brought home to me when I found that the electrician visiting our house had a wife who died of invasive aspergillosis in her lungs. I am thankful for every clear breath!

When our little rent house tested positive for mold, according to a company specializing in that service, I installed a dehumidifier and an ozone mold killer, both bought from Amazon. A month or two later, I bought this and ran the test. The test showed no mold remained, so I called the professionals out, and they confirmed it. The test is at least accurate in giving an "all clear".

Test came up negative for anything, wife was still sick so I hired a professional. He found 3 types of mold that were listed on the paperwork that it should have found.

Sensitive Test, Vague Instructions, but it WORKS!

1. The instructions are vague on where the best place to test is. It says to rub it on the mold until the swab is dirty. That doesn't help when you have no visible mold, only the suspicion of it's presence. I tested places that dust had collected in several different areas of my home. Bathroom, kitchen, and the ventilation grate for the HVAC return.
2. This test labels itself at the "most sensitive" on the market. After a little research I found out that these tests are not recommended by professionals because mold is everywhere, even the toxic kind. If this test is as sensitive as it states then you could get a positive by detecting a tiny amount of mold that is harmless to most (with exception of babies, the elderly, and folks who have respiratory illnesses). The real issue is the amount of spores you have in your air within a certain amount of time.
3. It takes a good 10-15 minutes to read your results.

With all of that being said, my daughter has been having very serious respiratory issues for the past year and we suspected that we had mold growth in our home. It wasn't visible but if we left for the day, without air circulating inside, it always smelled very musty upon our return. Since she is only 2 years old a small amount of toxic mold could be very harmful to her respiratory system. This test showed positive on both types. I was mortified. I still am. We are homeowners who live paycheck to paycheck. I have no clue how we are going to remediate the mold!

Doesn't work

Test doesn't work, tested in a rather toxic environment, this test said no mold spores of either type were present. Tested the same dust from the same area with a different test to send to a lab, showed up positive for both stachybotrys & aspergillus. (the 2 types this test is supposed to identify) Don't cheap out just go the lab route if you want to check for mold, besides this only claims to pick up 2 types of mold when there are 5 types known to cause health issues.

Easy to use and alleviates your fears, if you suspect household mold---and it shows "negative" good results! We had a moldy looking spot near our indoor a/c air handler===it wasn't any bad mold, just dirty grime from ducting moisture. However, I took the test to my workplace and swab-sampled some fuzzy-looking a/c vent mold near our cubicle and IT WAS "Positive" for Black Mold!! Now the environmental guys are cleaning all the vents and a/c filters.

Almost like a pregnancy test

Almost like a pregnancy test. Easy to use. Had been getting sick, gaining weight for almost 2 years. My brother told me about this & I strongly believe it saved my life. I woke up one morning lethargic, drunk feeling, couldn't focus, etc.. and found through this that indeed, mold was present, both types. I never went back and within 2 weeks my bronchial symptoms were gone, I'd list 10lbs, and felt much better! Only thing is, I wish the line would show brighter so there's less of a question..

Initial results come back positive and then when you pay the $150.00 to send it to the lab, everything comes back negative. I don't recommend this product to anyone looking for true results.

I sadly have had my run in with toxic mold a few times now, and used this test with my previous moldy rental unit. I'm severely allergic to toxic mold so I know when I begin to have symptoms, I need to order this test. First time I used it, it came back positive for both toxic types so I sent out the lab analysis. I then ordered a very expensive mold expert to come do an air sample just to be sure, and I could not believe how accurate this lab was to the insanely expensive mold guy's lab. Almost identical. I will never hire another professional and will continue with this test.

It is of limited usefulness. If you apply it directly to where there is mold it will give a positive reading. It is not useful for testing airbord mold in a room.
