I thought it would be smaller. The pistol is HUGE. I think most people would be embarrassed or asking for trouble if they walked around with this big pistol. Really, it's HUGE. The gun would not fire at first. When I got it going, it jammed and wouldn't fire again. Not reliable for self defense. Seller is extremely harsh and rude to deal with. If you want to buy this item try a different seller, as if you have a problem, Self Defense Divas are strangely unpleasant. My gun didn't work properly right out of the packaging, nor after conversing the company for advice, so I didn't feel it would be reliable. I would have given it to a friend or sister, but I felt I could only do that in good conscious if it worked properly. I returned it the very next day after I received it, but they refused to refund my money. So, no gun and no refund but not too big a deal to me as it seemed evident that one of the reasons the company is nasty to deal with maybe because they need revenue.

Nice product. It is a little bulky for the pocket, but they do make a holster for it. I used the practice cartridge and it has an excellent range (15-20ft) that comes out in a stream, as opposed to a mist. I am going to figure out a way to make it clip to the inside of my pocket.
I bought this after my neighbor's pit bull came under the fence and attacked my mother and my 14 year old lab. I broke it up initially with a can of pepper spray that I had been carrying around for several years, and the range on that can was only about 7 feet in a mist. I experienced some blow back and got some on myself, which was as you might imagine somewhat unpleasant. It barely made it to the dog, but was just enough to stop the attack. and get the dog out of my yard.

Just a word of precaution. Be careful where and how you use this. It may be totally legal where you reside, but it does resemble a real firearm from about any distance. I wouldn't go walking around with it in my hand or jogging like you would with a normal can of pepper spray, you would look like a crazy person walking around with a pistol, and I imagine you could get taken in on some trumped up charge for brandishing or something.

I ordered the mace brand mace gun, several practice cartridges, OC cartridges, and holster.

The mace gun delivery system feels natural in hand and the point and shoot method requires little aiming do to the natural point of aim.
The single led light in continuous mode offers very little in the way of defense or offense however in low light settings the strobe light feature would help distract an aggressor as the human eye takes time to refocus.

The light is engaged by slightly pressing the trigger. On the first press the light is continuous upon releasing the trigger and slightly pressing the trigger again the strobe light is engaged.
The safety is in a convenient and natural feeling location and does show orange when the safety is off fo those who need a visual que.

The light can be used with the safety on although it serves very little purpose outside of learning the function of the gun.
The trigger is stout "surprisingly so"

And i was very pleased with it as you have to actually pull the trigger to deliver the product on target.

The practice cartridges shot straight up to 25' 26'-33' shots are possible if you aim high account for drop.

The holster is what you should expect for the price. Both sides of thr holster have belt loops and the straps that hold the male and female parts of the snap can be removed and switched around to accommodate left or right handed draw.

All and all i am very happy with the products to use as a back up/less lethal carry option

Bought this as a gift for a friend 5 months ago. She found herself in a desperate situation and blasted her attacker in the eyes. The product was inert. It wasn't water, but the pepperspray was so weak that it had absolutely no effect. People got hurt.

I've used mace brand pepperspray myself. It always has a lingering effect that can also help if the attacker has friends.

In this case, the spray had virtually zero radius effect.

I've been looking for a way to get in touch with someone regarding this. I'd really like to hear from somebody from Mace or for Amazon.

I'm a receptionist, and while our clients are never a worry, we did have a scare once with someone who didn't belong in our office. I purchased this "just in case" and since I've only had it a few hours I haven't had to use it yet! I did however appreciate the water canister to practice with, it definitely came in handy to realize hat my coworker and I who were trying to use it were not squeezing the trigger hard enough! It was easy to use and I feel confident that if I ever need to use it, it will be successful. I hope to never need it obviously, but just in case, I'm glad to have it. I'm also glad I didn't get one that you press your finger on, because I just know I'm the heat of the moment I would end up shooting myself in the face or just failing miserably.

I don't know where to start. This lil mace gun is badass!! the practice water canister was nice to show how far it can shoot(plus it was kinda funny to shoot the water at my fiance and pit for fun.) the build in LED light gave you enough light when ever you needed it. The holster was also a nice little addition to the purchase, kept it on my belt loop when traveling and stayed nice and secure. I bought two extra canisters of pepper mace as well and kept those in a separate holster on my belt as well. I will purchase another one here shortly due to me misplacing it. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!

The practice container (water cartridge) is preloaded which makes it easy to pull out and practice with, in a sense of defense there is about enough to stun two people, or fully seize one person, the distance is great and shoots powerfully, if your familiar with an actual gun it's extremely simple, reloading is very simple as well, the build is sturdy but the grip feels hollow, while the chamber is a solid metal, strong enough to hit your attacker after you spray them to get way from them,
**I did not know this came with a light which toggles between a steady stream of light and flashing light, my only change would be to have some sort of switch to go between the two but the product is perfect for home defense,
***also I would not recommend you take this out of your home as it looks too much like an actual gun, and may be too bulky for a man to carry without a bag, for a women it'll suffice in a purse, (unless your a guy who likes purses then no problem) I'd Deffinatly recomended for a friend,

I am a female, petite, senior citizen who enjoys hikes. Unfortunately, my husband is unable to hike with me. There have been some attacks in our area on women who were biking or running alone. I am not about to let pervs stop me from getting my daily exercise, but it did worry me that I didn't have anything to protect myself with. I considered getting a conceal carry permit and carrying a small gun. Thing is, I don't really want to cause permanent injury to someone......I just want them to go away! Enter the Mace Pepper Gun. It gives me a sense of security, knowing I at least have something to use in an emergency. I practiced with the water cartridge, and it shoots a good stream a good distance. The pistol grip makes it easy to aim and shoot. I appreciate the safety switch location and ease of activating.

THE MACE GUN PREVENTED A PIT BULL FROM ATTACKING MY TWO DOGS

I was walking my two large dogs yesterday when a pit bull came running at us. Thankfully I had my Mace Gun handy and sprayed the pit bull.

The pit bull immediately ran away. The Mace Gun sprays in a thin steady stream for about 20 feet and is easy to use.

It would be great if the Mace gun had a red dye in the spray so I could have marked the pit bull.

I have an amazing wife and two daughters... My wife does not feel comfortable carrying a firearm with her and there is no way she would be able to fight off attackers without some form of protection. I feel much better about her walking to her car at night, knowing that she has her hand on a mace gun and is ready to point and shoot at any time. Even if she did have a firearm, I do not know if she would pull the trigger even if her life was being threatened. I am 100% confident that she will spray the S.O.B. with this Mace if she or my daughters were in danger. The ability to get away safely while not having to live with having shot somebody with a firearm is an amazing thing. Also, the use of this mace gun is so natural compared to your typical mace spray. The ability to point and shoot vs having to awkwardly point a typically mace sprayer while knowing your target is in the line of spray vs potentially spraying mace at yourself or in a wide range of angles is invaluable. I have since purchased one for each of our vehicles, have one secured safely at all 3 of our house doors... if anybody every tries to harm my family, they will be crying all their way to their jail cell... and not just because they are going to jail but because they have this extremely disorienting liquid flowing through their sinuses and eyes. I think everybody should be carrying some form of protection and if that protection can be used without fear of causing lifelong guilt. Buy this before you regret not having it when needed!

I was a little worried that this would be difficult to use or that it wouldn't spray far enough to keep my wife and my children safe. However, the water can that was provided has eased my mind completely. I was able to test and practice shooting this while not spraying chemicals into the air. We went into my back yard, hung a piece of blank paper to aim at and from 25 feet away we were both able to hit the piece of paper right away and the stream was still going strong. I am very confident that this will keep us safe and will drop any attacker.

One other big factor in my purchase was walking / jogging with our children. We live near a walking trail and there is wildlife and pets around us all the time. We love it, but it does give us another threat that many do not think about... rabid animals, animals protecting their young, pets, and many more can cause serious harm or death. We take our children on long walks and if a rabid dog attacked my wife, myself, or my children I do not know how affective we would be with eliminating that threat. We have made a rule that we do not leave our house without this mace gun with us. It is such a simple and safe way to keep my family safe, there is just no reason to not have it with us. Please buy this, so you too can increase your ability to defend yourself and the others around you!
