Expensive and you need a lot of them! Not just a couple!

I have a pool and unfirtunaty we don't have a heater for it, now I live in Florida were it's pretty hot most of the year but during the cooler months I wanted an inexpensive option to warm it up a few degrees. When I first purchased this mat I thought what a great idea! However I didn't know I needed to cover at least 80% of the water surface for them to work and at $30 each!... wow it would cost me close to $400! Now if these were a semi permanent option then I wouldn't mind spending the money however here are some thing to consider:
- They deflate really quick because of the high temperatures in Fl
- If it gets punctured you may or may not be able to patch it so there go $30 down the drain.... and if you have kids it is very possible they will puncture if they try to use them as floaters
- Because they need to float on the water in order to heat it they get that pool water gunk ring on them from the chemicals / outdoor dirt
- You have to take them all out each time you want to use your net to get rid of floating bugs and leaves from the water surface

Overall there are more cons over pros in my opinion. Now if you don't take care of your own pool and you have someone do it for you then these things may not be an issue for you,but regardless I still think the quality is questionable.

Hope this helps! If it does give me a helpful vote :)

Effective for indoor humidity control.

I have an odd shaped indoor pool. This is a great solution to keep the humidity down in the house and keep the heat in. Improvements are dramatic. What I really like is they are magnetic and smaller than maneuvering a huge heavy cover. When you pull one the magnet around the edge brings the next one toward you which makes it easy to reach all of them when swimming.

It does heat the pool, but it broke somewhere and I can't inflate it now. It does the job, so I'm not complaining. The wind hasn't blown it away either (some of the comments suggested that).

Poor materials used

I have a rather large, odd shaped pool. Last year I purchased 28 of the Solar mats. Live in California and liked that it would assist in water conservation and also raise the temperature of the pool. The product worked well for 6 months. Despite my cleaning them and carefully storing for the winter months, the plastic was cracked and leaking for this spring when I wanted to use them again. I only have 12 left that are barely floating. I cannot afford to spend $300 a year. Hopefully SwimWays will find better materials to use in the future. These were the equivalent in quality to inexpensive pool toys you buy at WalMart!

These are a waste of time, money and lung capacity. They don't work, you have to blow them up and it ends up as a sort of crescent shape that goes on to deflate rather quickly. At least mine did. Appreciate Amazon's return policy

These do a great job keeping the heat in our odd shaped pool. So far they have held up well. They are easy to remove and replace daily if necessary.

5 Degrees Warmer!
by A Burnikel (5 out of 5 stars)

I live in FL. But my pool is half shaded. So I only get to swim 5 months out of the year. (May-Oct However, I bought these in April and within 1 week, my pool's temperature increased a full 5 degrees! That put my pool to a comfortable 80 degrees so I can now swim in April. I can't wait to see if they allow me to extend my swimming into November!!

Not worth it. You need 20+ top cover your pool

Disappointed, from the picture these looked MUCH larger. No where did it say we needed 20 - 22 of these mats for them to be any use to us. At this price, I really expected more.
