Must buy for a gorgeous cake
by M (5 out of 5 stars)

Ordered these butterflies to decorate a birthday cake. They turned it into a professional looking cake!! I used a pastel yellow for the buttercream to make them pop. Some people might feel they aren't a very bright color, but that's easily solved by using a light colored buttercream. As you can see they looked absolutely stunning!!

In terms of the negative aspects, they are flavorless, they are chewy almost literally like eating paper. Although the size was specified in the description, they were a tad bit smaller than the dimensions. Would work great on cupcakes as well.

They did stay perfectly fine after a day of refrigeration, however longer and they curled up.

If you're unsure of whether to buy them or not, I'd suggest you go ahead and try em you won't regret it!!

Butterflies are Dull and Flat
by Aash (1 out of 5 stars)
October 13, 2016

These were very misleading. The butterflies are really dull looking and not bright and vibrant like in the picture. They are as flat as pancakes and snap when you try to bend them like in the picture. One even came scraped. Kid's birthday is in two days and I'm not happy! Total waste of money.

If you are thinking of mayyyyybe buying these, DO IT. These little butterflies are awesome, the colors are beautiful, and they are ridiculously easy to manipulate. I'm trying to think of a reason to buy more. Can I work them in to my son's first birthday party? Can I top my church covered supper dish with them? Lasagna and butterflies moghy be gorgeous...

Soo pretty! I've used these twice and while it would ...

Soo pretty! I've used these twice and while it would be nice if it was colored on both sides I am really happy with how they turned out. Everyone loved them! Edible is debatable. They won't poison you but they don't actually taste great either. Reminds me that there's a reason nothing eats real butterflies. :D

Butterflies Forever
by kitchen queen (5 out of 5 stars)
August 25, 2012

I ordered one set of each, a package of the large and one of the small butterflies, and had more than enough to decorate the three tiered cake for my daughter's engagement party. The colors and patterns were vibrant and varied. The butterflies looked like miniature watercolor paintings. They were easy to attach to the frosted cake with a dab of frosting that I applied with a toothpick. My only concern was that the packaging stated, "Do not refrigerate." As a result I didn't apply them until just prior to serving, which took away from other hostessing duties.

If I had been more organized, I would have contacted the company prior to decorating the cake to find out if refrigerating the decorated cake for a short time would affect the appearance of the butterflies. Based on the leftovers that we put in the refrigerator overnight (on homemade buttercream frosting) the butterfly colors did not "bleed" but they did look a little "limp" after about 10 hours.

Also, don't forget to inform your guests that the butterflies are edible. Most of ours thought they were finely patterned paper ones cascading up one side of the cake to encircle a faux engagement ring at the top.

My Cake Got Lots of Wows!
by Lori (5 out of 5 stars)
July 15, 2019

I made a birthday cake for my friend and used these butterflies. Everyone who saw it said, wow! gorgeous! beautiful! It truly was a special cake. My sister asked me to make one for her birthday in January, so I'll be purchasing again closer to that date so they are fresh. Butterflies are light, airy and colorful - and delish. I adore these!

Birthday butterflies

Enjoyed making my daughters cake for her 9th bday. All the kids wanted to have a butterfly, luckily I also bought another set for cupcakes. The taste is like a thin wafer (communion-like) so not bad just flavorless. Nonetheless kids wanted more, it was fun. Just make sure you don't keep them in the fridge, they will start to shrink or curl at the edges. I had my cake with butterflies in the fridge for about 6 hours, however I was able to flatten the curls out after. They arrived on time and I would buy them again.

These were not nearly as pretty as the picture. I ended up not using them for my cake. They taste like a more papery version of communion wafers...minus the feeling of being blessed. I think real butterflies may taste better but I'm not wiling to test it out.

Super easy to use
by MaineWoods (4 out of 5 stars)

Exactly as described except they aren't as brilliant as in the picture. Super easy to attach. I don't know why people are having a problem bending them to look like they're real butterflies. I simply bent them like paper, carefully, with no water. Attached them with some excess frosting from the cake. Put all of them on a five layer rainbow cake. Super fun.
