this thing is LEGIT. I had adults legitimately get freaked out by it.

You're going to need some help getting it on, but once it's done, the rest is a breeze. Took about 30 minutes start to finish for me and I did the make up part myself. Considering I have never done makeup in my life, I think it turned out pretty well.

Protip: If you do it over the mouth (like I did) , you're going to have a hard time eating. I ended up ripping up some of the glue when I ate lunch at work. So if you do it that way, carry some glue with you.

To create a more scabby look, I used some piece of toilet paper and glued them to my face before applying the blood make up. Worked out well.

Perfect, Simple, Inexpensive!

Purchased this, not really knowing what to expect, other than I needed something inexpensive and quick.

Time: It took me about 45 min - 1 hr (I can be OCD at times, so you could probably do it quicker).

The instructions are straight-forward. The toughest part is getting the zipper glued to your face (the spirit glue is, well, sticky - so it sticks to everything). I used the brush that comes in the kit to get the glue in those though spots, then used the plastic handle to hold the zipper in place until it dried.

I saw a similar kit in the local Halloween store - not nearly as good quality as this one (it's an actual zipper in this kit, not plastic).

Tips: Follow the instructions (seems silly to say, but it can be easy to bypass)! Before you glue the zipper on, look in the mirror and move your face around (open your mouth, smile, etc.) and look for the area of your cheeks that don't move as much... this is where you should try to put the zipper. The reason being is that the zipper doesn't flex much when glued on, if you put it in a place (say close to the mouth), it won't allow you as much freedom to smile, open your mouth, etc. without potentially pulling or popping off. Further from the edges of your mouth move less and have less likely-hood of popping off or limiting your face (to eat or whatever).

I used the cotton at the end of q-tips to add 'hanging pieces' from my chin/face and covered them in red blood. Letting the 'blood' dry enables you to add more on top to create that texture (I didn't use any black makeup inside the zipper part). Be generous w/ the white makeup and use it on your neck area, ears, etc. You can wear a hood or hat if you want to hide the top of the zipper (though a hat may push against the zipper - not comfy). To remove, just hop in a warm shower and use the spirit gum remover (works great - be careful not to use it all at once).

Watch out for: once the zipper is glued on, it doesn't flex a whole lot, but your skin does (note tip around where to put the zipper). I still couldn't open my mouth very wide to eat and felt a little limited. Don't touch your face! You'll get a nose itch, just be cognizant! Bring some paper towels w/ you in case you need to clean-up mishaps. Once it's dried, it's pretty solid, but try not to touch it - as it can flake off the blood.

I bought this last year, but coming around now to review it. LET. ME. TELL. YOU....this product is awesome! I put it on at 7 AM for work and it lasted until 11 PM and night (I just did minor touch ups with the glue about twice in that time span). I even won my company's Halloween contest for $150. Just make sure that you play around with the zipper on your cheeks to find the best location to prevent it from tugging/falling off while you speak/eat. The looks and thumbs ups I got driving to work on the highway - still tickles me today!

Many people at work were impressed. I bought my own spirit gum but the stuff out of the package almost worked better. I knew better but still was a little disappointed when it started coming loose at work. When the one on my neck got too loose I just yanked it off and covered up the spirit gum with blood, lol.

I wish I never got this thing. Lets start with I followed the instructions to the T. I did a test on the inside of my arm for 45 minutes. I had no reaction durring that time, so i continued like the instruction said. When trying to apply the thing it never really stuck using the adhesive. I spent 20 minutes trying. At that point I said screw it, then used the adhesive remover. Washed my face with my usual facial cleanser . I used the white amd black paint to make me Zombiesh. Went amd worked for 5 hours and cleaned face again. When I woke up the next day I had major swelling in my eyes and chemicle burns where the adhesive rested. I have 7 blisters and a visit to the Quick Care, where it has already cost me 90 dollars for the visit and the meds. I have never had a reaction like this in my life and used simular products.

The red bloody gore was PERFECT

Nice kit but not good for people like me with an oily face. I tried not to smile or eat anything but zipper started falling off in less than 90 minutes. The white makeup was not thick enough, but probably my skin was at fault. The red bloody gore was PERFECT and had a nice gooey consistency that firmed up. Even scared a 5 year old Darth Vader trick or treat neighbor that hit me over the head with his light saber. All the makeup washed off easily with hand soap and water and then the glue remover was used. I recommend 4.5 stars.

My god what fun me and my husband had with this makeup kit! I got one for each of us and we did the zipper face for a home football game then I wore it to work on Halloween day. So many compliments and stares! Lots of "Wow how did you DO that ?!" Easy to apply and take off - I used a different adhesive though since I wanted to make SURE it would last over 12 hours. I used Graftobian and the remover Graftobian Pro-Adhesive Remover (2oz.) instead of the adhesive that came in the kit. I also used a little more fake blood as you can see in the pic. All told it was done in about 30 minutes. Really fast!

I got this for my husband and myself for our halloween party this year and I must say it was a huge hit. All of my guests absolutely loved it. Though some reviewers say that it can take between 30 - 40 minutes to apply the whole thing, we only had 15 minutes before our guests would start coming in and we did just fine. My husband, who has not done make-up ever before did an amazing job with this one in under 15 minutes. We also did the extra step of putting on cotton in the red section to create texture and it looked amazing. A couple of things that you might want to consider though are:
1. Apply the zipper to an area on your face that doesn't move as much with eating, talking, laughing i.e., a little further away from the corners of your mouth.
2. Apply copious amount of glue and let it dry completely for the best results.

Great kit for realistic zipper effect with the blood included being the 2nd best part of the fx kit. Your face should be clean shaven if possible only because with my facial hair got a little stuck to the "spirit gum adhesive" that is included in the package, BUT dont let that discourage you from getting this actual awesome kit. The whole process takes up to 35 minutes due to you have to hold the zipper to your face while the "spirit gum adhesive" does the job which is no problem cause I had it on for 5 hours in NYC and only after the 4 hours at a party has is start to come off by my neck due to so much movement.

Amazing!! Easy to put on, not too bad to take off. I wore it for 10 hours and it stayed perfectly in place and I got so many compliments!! You'll get plenty of double takes with this one, totally worth it! Also, I have very sensitive skin so I was kinda nervous about this- but it didn't bother me at all!
