Fun and simple

The cookies this cutter makes are huge. Using the recipe for sugar cookies from the Fred and Friends website, I was able to make about a dozen cookies. As I learned after using GINGERDEAD MEN Cookie Cutter/Stamper
, I stamped the image after the cookie was baked for a perfect image. They were easy to decorate with royal icing, and only required the use of 2 colors to decorate. Perfect for anyone who hates mixing a dozen colors to decorate cookies.

My only peeve is that when stamping the shape of the cookie, the dough wouldn't release from the cutter no matter how hard I tapped it. I ended up having to use a toothpick to loosen the side until I could fit a finger in to manually press the dough out. A few of my cursed cookies had a wonky leg as a result. And yes, I floured the cutter each time.

Overall, I'm happy with my experience with this cookie cutter.

These are the cutest pumpkin cookie cutters ever! Recipes are included in the box, which can be helpful if you don't already have one. I used a chocolate cookie recipe, and the cookies didn't spread at all. Immediately after removing the cookies from the oven, stamp the faces into the cooked dough. In my experience with other cookie cutters of this type, stamping the image before baking results in a loss of definition of the stamped image. You can leave as is, or for a little extra fun, pipe orange royal icing onto the cookies surrounding the facial features.

Takes Time and Effort but Completely Worth it!

I completely adore this cutter as well as its companion cutter, the GingerDEADman.

They are time consuming to make, and you really need to make sure your dough isn't going to spread/expand when it's baked, but if you keep those two things in mind they'll come out perfect.

I made three dozen of these yesterday, and it took me about 30 min prep, each tray needed around 8 minutes to bake, and then a little over 2 hours to decorate them all after they'd cooled a bit. They are best decorated with Royal Icing (as suggested by the pamphlet in the box the cutter comes in, but if you're low on time/money, warming a bit of a pre-packaged/made icing and letting it go into the crevices in the cut out works just as well.

Pro-Tips:
1) Press the side with the raised edges into the dough first to even the cookie out, THEN turn the cutter over and out it out. You'll end up with clean edges and markings this way.
2) You can use a zip-lock or plastic bag as a piping bag. Just put in the icing, then trim off the tip to an appropriate size.
3) When going to cut the cookies, put down a piece of wax paper, then put a SMALL amount of the dough. If you press this out to the approximate size of the cutter, press in the shapes and then cut the cookie, leave the cutter in place. Get a plastic scraper spatula and lift the excess off. This way, you'll end up with a perfectly clean cut and cutter.

Best cookie cutters ever! The flip embossing side really helps when it comes time to ice the cookies. The cutters hold up beautifully and clean up is a breeze. Just toss in dishwasher :)

Sept 2016 update: These cookie cutters are still my FAVORITE among my dozens of cookie cutters. I am a newbie at decorating with Royal Icing, but these cutters made applying the royal icing much easier by using the etching on the top part of the cutters to do the outlining. I am including a picture of the cookies I made last year that were a HIT for Halloween. Can't wait to make them again this year!

A little tricky to work with but am pleased, nonetheless. Made gingerbread cookie recipe exactly as it appeared in instructions and they taste delicious...good texture too. It' REALLY important to dip shapers and cutter in flour with every cookie and use cold dough. I couldn't find "royal frosting" as suggested, so when the cookies were cool, I spooned powdered suger onto facial features and then brushed off with my finger. The result as you can see in the photo is spooky jack o lantern gingerbreads! The little one on the counter is a piece of raisin bread which turned out with the shaper/cutter. I'm going to try imprinting bread and then toasting it too. The faces are delightful and I thought easy to clean.

Awesome cookie cutters!

I love 'em. These are really cool looking and I use them all year round because I'm weird. Make sure you get a sugar dough recipe that doesn't spread or puff up too much (I used one that I got off of warpzoneprints.com, but I think you can also find one at the Fred and Friends website, or there are some listed in the comments here). I stamped my cookies before baking and the patterns didn't fade too much, except where I didn't stamp very deeply. I haven't tried stamping after baking, but I plant to try that next time. I also want to try these with gingerbread cookies and pre-cooked sheet brownies too (like this blogger: http://www.hungryhappenings.com/2013/10/sugar-skull-brownies-day-of-the-dead-food.html). The basic sugar cookies look fine without frosting, but you could certainly dust them with powdered or colored sugar to make the details stand out more.

One side of of the cookie-cutter cuts the skull shape, and the other side is the stamp. I found that sometimes my dough stuck inside the cutter, but if I held it just over the baking sheet and gave it a little smack, the dough would pop right out.

I received this cookie cutter/stamper yesterday and could hardly wait to get my cookie dough chilled to use it. I was somewhat reluctant to purchase it after reading some of the negative reviews...HOWEVER, the cookies turned out nicely with a clear pattern. Hints:
#1 roll cookie dough thin less than 1/4 inch
#2 lightly press outline of cutter on dough
#3 push your stamp in from top to bottom and from side to side firmly but gently
#4 turn over to cutter side and cut out the cookie.

Important: Make sure to roll between 2 pieces of parchment paper- lightly flour your cookie cutter/stamp- choose an appropriate sugar cookie recipe that doesn't have baking soda (perhaps shortbread)

It's not that difficult, I had fun, I would order this product again. I am thrilled with the result and have done nothing but make cookies with the stamper from last night and early this morning. I also ordered the Ginger Dead Man and it works equally as well.

while these do make very cute cookies. There are a few things you should know. 1. your dough needs to be chilled while making these. 2. don't expect the detail to look the same once they are baked. 3. They are very hard to clean. 4. Make sure to roll out the dough thinner than the instructions state because it will make a very think cookie.
