Only works on bolts that face one direction. Mine ...

Only works on bolts that face one direction. Mine locks in the vertical position, so this is worthless on my door.

Great to keep unwanted landlord out.

This works great to feel safe when an unwanted landlord has your keys. There is no way they can turn the key. Once you learn how to use it. It will be easy every time. I did not receive anything in return for my review.

Using It To Secure the Deadbolts of a $4,500 Security Door
by GImmy (4 out of 5 stars)
January 22, 2016

I recently spent $4,500 per door for for 4 security doors. I am confident the doors cannot be kicked down or even chopped through but...The problem is, despite what the company told me, I am concerned that any lock can be picked and all too many times even bumped. Due to my lack of trust in a potential weak point, I started looking for a security devise for the dead bolt.

I tried the other deadbolt security devices sold on Amazon and at locksmith shops. Due to my unique locking system, none worked. I was about to have a machine shop custom make 4 of them for me. Before doing so, I read the sales data and customer reviews on this devise. I decided that I could afford to risk 9 bucks. Like some other reviewers, my locks are vertical. If you read many of the 1 star reviews, their complaint is this devise does not work if the knob is locked in the vertical position. By following the directions for the horizontal knobs, they were right, it did not work. I fiddled with it a bit, reversed the direction then low and behold, it worked. Out of all the devises I purchased this simple and cheap devise worked.

I have used it for two weeks and it is secure. Since the flap is not a heavy material and since it is largely made of Velcro, it will wear out based on use where as the ones made of metal will last much longer. Still, for $9, I will just replace them when the time comes. Tonight, I am ordering 7 more: 3 for my other doors and 4 as backups. I will take one of the backups with me on my next trip in the event that I can use it on a hotel door.

Can't Be Too Safe
by Grant G. (5 out of 5 stars)

Good product. Also good for hotel rooms. TSA won't give you a hard time because it's just a strap. The security bar can be easily unlatched from the outside with a lock bypass tool called a door jockey. So, get one of these. Don't lull yourself into a false sense of security. All someone needs is a bump key to get into your place. 90% of the locks in American households use a 5-pin Kwikset lock. A bump key can be bought by anyone off the internet for a few bucks. No training is required to use one. Most hotel key card locks can be picked on the underneath side of the lock with a magic marker. Not kidding.

If Directions Don't Work, Don't Be Afraid To Experiment!
by LoveThatRonWhite (5 out of 5 stars)

We know someone whose garage was recently opened with what was apparently a bump key. . .a loaded work vehicle was stolen (it was packed with expensive tools) and the vehicle was found abandoned later -- minus the tools. With this in mind, a solution to the "bump" problem was sought. This Super Grip Lock worked easily on two out of three exterior doors. One security door lock was just too large, but it did fit on the regular exterior door on that entrance. Keeping in mind that the goal is to immobilize the turn knob, experimentation may help to find the proper wrap attachment for the strap. We found that as long as the small hood fits over the latch (orienting the latch into the "lock" position) and the strap is pulled firmly down and around the doorknob, and then the remaining velcro is securely pressed together, this works well. If the hood doesn't fit the top of the latch, try it from the bottom, then wrap. Don't leave any slack in the strap. This is pretty low-tech, and very ingenious, and a good low-cost solution to a very real problem. Service was fast.

Use the Optional 2b Installation Instructions - Works Perfectly. No falling or knocking it off.
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

Works perfectly, IF you install it via the 2b instructions, using the "Triangular Eyelet" (putting the lock turn through the hole in the strap), instead of using the useless little black pocket . If you install it via the regular instructions (the little black pocket), it can be knocked off of the lock from the outside, by pounding on the door. Using the 2b instructions, it is impossible to knock off from the outside - or inside - of the door.

Highly recommend for anyone living in an apartment, or rental property, who worries about maintenance (or unwanted people with a key) just waltzing in without notice.

It's a little extra peace-of-mind knowing that in order to get through the door, an intruder would have to make significant noise, as opposed to just quietly picking or bumping the locks. Gives you time to grab your gun, and be waiting with a proper welcome for the unfortunate soul. ( ˃◡"ŠË‚ )

Good in theory, poor execution.
by Aunt_La (2 out of 5 stars)

This was great in theory, but poor on execution. I followed the instructions closely and made sure the product was installed correctly. My husband and I tested it several times and each time, after some jiggling, it would pop off the deadbolt. At one point, we wedged it in between the door and the knob so that it could not slide off and the strap began to rip. I really had high hopes for this, but it just didn't hold up.

Won't Work With My Lock But Am Keeping For Future Use
by A. Smith (5 out of 5 stars)
October 31, 2015

Didn't work on my daughter's or my door but am keeping it for traveling. The type of deadbolt that it works on is one that has an oval shape which is centered where it attaches to the base of the interior lock. Ours is the Kwickset Smart Key Touch Pad type locks. She has a neighbor that's a special needs young man who likes to push the buttons to hear the beeps. She now takes out the batter pack at night but I worry that someday he's going to figure out the correct combination.

When I think about it I'll post a pic of the door turn which it will NOT work with so you can compare it to yours.

Worth it
by Duke of Hoagies (4 out of 5 stars)
October 15, 2015

I was pretty skeptical about this strap but it really does work! The overall strap feels very sturdy but the elastic part at the top that slips onto the deadbolt first is really flimsy, ours is already fairly stretched out and we have only had it a little over a month. They really need to invest in a more durable and thicker elastic band to keep it from wearing out so easily. Once strapped on, even if you try and use your key, the lock will not budge at all. You would definitely break your key off sooner than you would ever defeat this strap from the outside! The price is nice too compared to other lock things.

by mark goodrich (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this to secure my front door do to the dead bolt was the only means of locking it. The super dead bolt lock works great.. i feel a little more secure..A thief can pick the dead bolt easily. But with this attached, you can not turn the dead bolt at all, I tried it with a key, and the force broke my key.. but the dead bolt grip lock, did not move..
