Cute costume, good quality, don't buy unless you can sew.
by Boymom, RN (3 out of 5 stars)

So I'll start off by saying.. read the reviews. Everyone says it's sized funky and they're correct. That being said, I ordered an XL because I have a tall lanky Standard Poodle and needed the length and torso length of the XL. Also, I can sew well. I wasn't scared of altering it. It was HUGE on my dog, but the torso length was perfect. I ended up cutting off the legs, removed three inches from the legs and sewing them back on. Also cut a tail hole. And removed about 12 inches from the belly area, then added new Velcro. And I added Velcro at the chest so it'd stay on. Alterations took about 2 hours. That was priceless though when my son (Darth Vader) was walking his AT AT down the street with his best friend as Luke Skywalker as they trick or treated. Priceless.

Your dog will hate you
by Charles (1 out of 5 stars)

Like many others have stated, the sizing is all wrong and when you put it on the dog, as he/she walks, the costume falls off. You need to tie the four legs and make sure the top doesn't shake too much. Essentially, your dog will not be able to move comfortably and may even hate you. Here are the actual measurements of a medium fitting: Body length: 21" but 5" found at the end points your dog's tail downward so keep that in mind (it is partially stretchable and that is not a good thing) Leg length (for all four): 15" Under belly: 40" overall but each strap measures 7" and the velcro is at the very end and cannot be adjusted so that means you have 14" of belly space that if your dog does not fit, the costume will slide off. My dog likes to have his tail waving proudly in the air but this costume forces his tail to be down which he does not like too much. The head gear was the only thing that fitted properly but the rest is far from what the product photo shows. I should mention that I have a catahoula leopard mix dog who weighs 55 lbs and is very fit. This costume is meant for husky weight dogs who are nice and round. Please look at what my poor dog looks like with this thing on, he is basically questioning his human on why I like to humiliate him.

This is a small?
by J Hoips (2 out of 5 stars)

The vendor sizing clearly states a small would fit a chihuahua with a neck to tail length of 11" and a sleeve length of 5.5"... My dog is a Rat Terrier Chihuahua mix and is slightly longer and taller than a standard chihuahua, but I got the small size anyway. I ordered this for a charity event where we were dressing up our pets... It would have been perfect if she could have fit into it. The costume would fit a dog two to three times her size. And it isn't exactly something I could hem up to make fit. The force was not with me on this order. :(

Sizing is WRONG!

I ordered this in a medium, all other costumes and clothing have been medium - this medium could have fit a German Shepherd. I have a Jack Russell. Ordered a small, and it's still HUGE. The package says something like "perfect for small dogs or cats!" I never want to be caught in a dark alley with a cat that can fit into thing. However, my dog looks hilarious in it, so i'm going to cut it up and custom fit it to his body.

can't beat it for 20 bucks but....doesn't fit properly you will have to do major modifications to make it fit so be prepare! i have a pitbull around 75lbs...medium size fits him best....the problem is the costume is all cloth and doesn't stay up like the picture show with out modifying it! I made a card board frame for the costume out the Amazon box with the help of some packing tape and it worked perfect!

Not useable as it comes, can be modified.

It needed modifications, but it worked well enough. I got medium for my 12 lb Italian greyhound. I had to lengthen the legs, and I cut a slit for her head. I also sewed elastic to the headpiece. We won first place in the costume contest!

Poor design, but still cute on my greyhound!

Poor design, only buy if you are crafty and can modify the costume yourself! I knew I wanted this costume, although the reviews were bad. Luckily, I sew, so I attached a front panel to hold the costume in place. I don't know how it is supposed to hold up on the dog otherwise...I have a greyhound and ordered the Large. The sizing was too big around and questionable on the length (I think it is a little too short). I added a tighter fit by replacing the existing Velcro. It is hilarious costume but needs a redesign! Only buy if you have the patience and time to modify the costume!

Not a good fit for a medium size dog.

The picture attached to my review is the difference between a medium and a large. These sizes vary wildly. I ordered a medium to start with and it was WAY too small, it would have fit a 10-15 lb dog best. Then, after measuring my dog again, I ordered the next size up, a large. The large is WAY too big and looks like it would fit a 60 to 70 lb dog. Very very frustrating that there is no size that would fit a dog inbetween 15 lbs and 60 lbs.

Very awkward fit. My Goldendoodle kept walking out of the leg straps. Like the other reviewers have said, it needs some modifications to fit right.

Good-looking, ill-fitting

Bought this for my Corgi - he looked absolutely hilarious as a stumpy-legged AT-AT!

Looks good enough, but you definitely need to make some adjustments to make it stay on your dog:
1. Add more velcro to the stomach area - as it is, it's not adjustable and won't stay on thinner dogs
2. Add a front strap - if you put it on as-is, your dog can just walk out of the costume
3. I cut slits in the costume and use some strings to attach it to my dog's collar to help it stay on better

The size featured on this sellers listing is horrible. I bought a large based on her description for a beagle and it was totally in accurate. And now Im without a costume for my dog this year. I would recommend ordering a medium or a small if you have a beagle!

it looks like it will fit a taller dog too
by LL (3 out of 5 stars)
October 27, 2014

IT IS WAY TOO BIG! The sizing chart is way off... the packaging says a large is suppose to fit a Bichon Frise, Cocker Spaniel, etc, and it is so big, that it will fit my Black Lab! Actually, it looks like it will fit a taller dog too. I bought it for my miniature poodle, NOT the lab. Disappointed in it, but because Halloween is so close, I'll just keep the dang thing and put it on the lab.

size not proportionate
by KAYCEE PERRY (3 out of 5 stars)

I got the appropriate size listed (L) and the items length from collar to tail is perfect. The Velcro strap is huge! It would fit a Saint Bernard, I swear. The legs are way to long, they might also fit the height of a Saint Bernard. Though I assure you this costume wouldn't fit a Saint Bernard since its length fits a medium sized dog. So right now this costume is useless to me! So if anyone has a dog that is the size of a Saint Bernard in chest and height but the length of a spaniel let me know!

NOT WORTH IT...it's garbage
by danaimys (1 out of 5 stars)
November 7, 2013

I bought a large, which according to the size chart should still be small for my 70 lb American Bulldog but when I got it, it was actually WAY TOO HUGE! I think ordering a small for my dog would've actually fit better, which is ridiculous. There was nothing securing it at the front so it was just falling off my dog and there wasn't really any way to modify it to make it fit. It wasn't worth it either because it looked really ugly on her and cheap. It's also disappointing because you have to pay for shipping to get it and when you return it, you have to pay to ship it back, and you don't receive either of those. It's a lot of money lost for nothing.
