Does the job

So I took the gopole to Hawaii with me and it did the job of extending out and holding the camera in place, but water got into it very easily and was very hard to get out. In addition, it's a cheap plastic and so it cracked easily on the extension locking mechanism. Photos are below.

I bought this product less than a month ago and it broke the second time I used it. Thankfully GoPole stuck to the lifetime warranty and sent me a new one. Fresh out of the box I simply tossed my GoPro to my friend and the pole sank like a rock with my camera (GoPro Hero 5). I dove after it and had no luck finding it. After emailing them back for the second go around they only support warranty on their products to no surprise at all and offered to send me a new evo which obviously is not going to work. I'm beyond disappointed in this brand and would not recommend other products as I have used them and yet again been disappointed by the turnout. I would strongly recommend to not trust this product or its company.

NOT for DEEP WATER
by Slick B (4 out of 5 stars)
June 8, 2016

Great monopod, easily retracts and extends above and below the surface. Its very well constructed, doesn't wobble when fully extended and the clear tube looks nicer in the selfie shots/videos.

The screw in wrist strap is nice, but if you use it a lot and don't remember to tighten it after a few hours of use, it may become lose and detach from the pole.

Now for the BAD, This floats because air is trapped inside of both tubes, primarily within the smaller tube if you try to extend this under water, the larger tube will fill with water. The smaller extension tube is attached to the GoPro adaptor with some type of glue, it does a great job at keeping water out at shallow depths less than 33ft~10M but if you keep going deeper to 66Ft~20M or even 99ft~30M the air pressure at that depth will compress all the air and the tube will slowly start leaking. After 7 days of diving to the 60-110 foot range the small tube was completely filled with water, because the end was sealed and only leaked with the added pressure of the deep depths there wasn't anyway to remove the water without drilling a hole which would compromise the structural integrity.

WRAP UP

Good all around, floats and looks great, check the wrist strap regularly and don't take it deep or it will fill with water and it cant be drained without breaking it.

Perfect! Just the right price
by C. Santiago (5 out of 5 stars)

Perfect! Just the right price, lightweight and durable. More durable than I thought at first. Floats as described. Love having a pole thats see through so it's less distracting in photos if you happen to have it in your pic (although its better to hold in an angle so you never see the pole, but we al now that isn't always possible. Length as a short or extended pole is perfect for Gopro wide shots. You really don't need (or want) it longer for 99.9% of your shots. It does get water droplets in it even when you tighten the twist lock but it will dry up if you leave the twist lock loose. I think this water gets in when you got from long extension to short on d the inner pole part goes in the outer extension.

Excellent Accessory For Our GoPro
by tbruin (5 out of 5 stars)

This was the best thing ever to go along with our GoPro on vacation. We used it snorkeling, riding on wave runners and ATV's and we also set it up and leaned it against things while we used our remote to take pictures. I love that it is transparent and was barely noticeable in the pictures. It allowed me to get pictures closer up to fish and other creatures in the coral without having to get so close. I also used it to capture some great photos and videos of sharks and stingrays we swam with. It floats which is great as well. I also attached a foam floaty to the camera for extra protection, but this alone would probably have been fine. I was also amazed with how stable the videos were when we used it riding the ATV's. We were able to hold it above and out in front, to the side or behind us while riding the ATV's and wave runners and capture great videos without it being too noticeable. This is a must have for activities like this that you'll be filming with a go pro. The length is perfect also. It would be nice if it collapsed for packing purposes, but it doesn't. It still fit in our suitcase though.

Floats! But wristlet needs improvement.
by Yendolyn (4 out of 5 stars)
December 29, 2015

I'm happy I bought this item, but there's some room for improvement. The handle floated as expected and the rubber grip made it easy. I was very careful with tightening the clear screw joint at the extension point and the clear chamber did have water get into it, but it didn't seem to affect how it performed. The clear screw joint moves up and down so sometimes I didn't have it secured in the proper place so the extension wouldn't lock. The biggest area where I'd love to see improvement is the wrist strap. It causes a lot of noise in your videos. It would also be better if the plastic piece on the strap actually locked in place...it slides around so you can't really have it tight around your wrist. The screw that goes into the handle doesn't tighten well so at one point it apparently unscrewed on its own so while I had it around my wrist, the screw detached from the handle and my go pro fell and hit the concrete! And this is how I got the first scratches on my brand new $400 Go Pro :/. Overall, I'm still content, but hope they can improve the strap part.

Not the most durable
by Jeremy W (3 out of 5 stars)
October 23, 2018

I've gone through a couple of these things. They just aren't that durable when it comes to salt water. Went on vacation a couple times. I tried to rinse it with fresh water after getting out of the ocean, but I may not have done the best job at it. With both of these the plastic part that the screw goes through simply broke off randomly. The break wasn't from anything I did - it just kind of wore out. The salt water exposure is the only thing I can think of to cause this. I'll be trying to find a replacement soon.

Great Idea but Implementation Falls Short
by JonahsArk (3 out of 5 stars)

Previously I had the longer transparent GoPole which was about 42 inches until it got left somewhere, so I bought this one thinking it would be convenient to have the extension, an included remote holder, and it would be easier to travel with (traveling was the issue that I came across with a longer pole). I wanted to like this new GoPole but was left with just a meh taste. The very thing that made this pole enticing, other than the transparency, the extension, was also its crux. Having a joint that is this large is quite visible in shots, removing the transparent effects of the pole, and it rattles when shooting video with the GoPro. Sure it may be a okay selfie pole, but it seems like a failed attempt at something new. The last generation was way better in my eyes.

Pros:
-Transparent
-Extendable
-Loved the new tripod mount capabilities on the bottom
-Included remote clip

Cons:
-The joint no matter how hard I tightened would rattle in videos.
-The joint is very incognito. It was pretty noticeable in my test pictures.

Conclusion:

If at all possible I would try to find the older 26 inch Evo if you are looking for this length, that is what I did. There is no creaking, it floats, it is solid,

... after purchasing a Hero4 Silver - I'm a bit disappointed even after reading the reviews at how f
by Jin M Choe (3 out of 5 stars)

I was very excited to receive this product after purchasing a Hero4 Silver - I'm a bit disappointed even after reading the reviews at how fragile this item is. It's really the main reason I am knocking off 2 stars. I am relatively gentle with my items and somehow this product managed to crack around the plastic screw piece with normal use. Mind you I have not even taken it on a snowboarding trip or have done anything extreme. I've taken it swimming a few times. I'd like to point out that you can really only have two lengths: fully extended or fully retracted. There is no in between.

What I do like about this product: it is clear and therefore is not as much of a distraction if the stick ends up in your shot. It floats and has a nice neon butt that is easy to spot. As long as you are not adjusting the length of the pole in the water, it does a good job of keeping water out. I also like the functionality of the Smart Remote clip on piece that comes with the pole - one of the main reasons I opted for this pole compared to others. If you're OCD about your products like I am, you may not like the fact that the clip on leaves a lot of scratches on the pole.

I really like the idea of what the product is trying to accomplish, but I feel as though the product could have been built with much more durability for the price GoPole is charging.

Not good enough.
by Michael S (2 out of 5 stars)
February 6, 2017

Not good enough...it's cheap plastic and the connection where you extend it is not stable, you can wiggle it in your hand and the joint shifts. It is not sturdy. They should just call it a "discount plastic selfie stick" rather than tout it as a quality item. I will use it once then toss it or give it away.
