Great idea, but not so great product

As others have mentioned, it does have a large size and sometimes takes forever to finish a temperature reading. However, my 4 months old boy did not have problems using it and I should specify that most of the times it takes between 1-3 min to read. Only some of the times it takes so long that makes me loose track of time waiting and at the end it simply turns off.

Besides that, it claims to read in both Farenheit and Celsius, but mine does not. It only reads Farenheit. I have carefully read the instructions that comes with it and it simply doesn't switch. It may have been a problem with my product, but it is worth mentioning. So I have to keep converting the values to Celcius so they will mean something to me.

Also, it is important to say that you cannot change the batteries when they finish. You have to dispose the entire thermometer and then buy a new one.

Finally, I should say that the colors of the display are great. That really helps you get the message right away, specially when you still have to convert it to Celsius to undestand the reading.

Battery is NOT replaceable.

So this arrived today and I haven't had to use it yet but the first thing I read in the directions was that the battery is NOT replaceable. Basically, after the battery dies, you throw it away. Had I know that, I would not have purchased it. Otherwise, the design and idea of the thermometer is simple enough. Turn it on and put it in babies mouth. And eventually throw it away. :-(

I like the thought of this product however they have to have this passie in thier mouth for a little while for it to register thier temp. If your baby has a temp or is fussy she will not keep it long enough to work. It's a really good thought but didn't work for us

Overall I write the product a 1 star for many reasons..its a cool concept but here are the negatives..
-extremely slow reading...which would be fine but if your baby is fussy or just doesn't want it then it makes it very difficult shoving something in your child's mouth when they dont want it.
-if your baby doesn't want it you feel like you're choking them
-arrived and was low battery like many said which is my fault for ignoring
-no way to change battery that I can tell anyway
-not very accurate.

No bad, but you will no use as often as you think you will, better buy a actual thermometer, if you have a infant have the temporal duo with ear reading, these one won't work if your baby do not get the pacifier, if the baby is crying and fuzzy, is hard to keep it time enough to an accurate reading, and may be affected if you feed the baby prior use. The quality of the product was good, durable.

Worked okay for the few times that it worked, which was about half a dozen times in 5 months. It's hard to get a baby to stay happy with this binkie when it takes so long to take the reading.

Your baby is probably being fussy which is why you need to check it's temperature- but this thermometer needs to be in baby's mouth for a solid 5min before it gets an accurate read. What fussy baby is going to keep a thermometer, even a paci one, in their mouth that long?! Nope, he or she will cry or spit it out, your read will be totally inaccurate, and you will be wanting to scream in frustration. Great idea, terrible in reality.

I bought this originally because my cousin had it on her baby list. The idea is genius... But the ability is substandard. I tried to use it for my 11 month old, and it did not work for him. The idea of making him keep his mouth shut for 90 seconds or more is not easy. Even my toddler who loves sucking on a nuk still didn't keep it in long enough to register a temperature.

This may work for a newborn... But not for older infants and toddlers.

Works Ok, Stupid that you have to buy a new one when battery is dead

I've used this on my daughter. I "think" it is somewhat accurate. I mean short of doing a rectal read how do you know if it is or not. The STUPID part is that when the battery dies, you have to buy a whole brand new one. I get that the battery that is in it, it probably isn't even worth the hassle of replacement, but we got this for a baby shower gift. I used it once just to try it on my little one, but Month 5 the battery was dead (When I finally needed it) and then ended up having to do a rectal read anyways since the battery was dead on this one. Doesn't last long, but for $10 I guess you get what you pay for. I just ended up buying a new one.
