Take the work of out of cleaning your pool with the iRobot Mirra 530 Pool Cleaning Robot. Mirra uses enhanced robotic technology to deep clean pool surfaces and water, removing leaves, hair and dirt, as well as algae, pollen and bacteria as small as two microns. Designed to clean any type of residential in-ground pool, Mirra 530 lifts grime off the pool floors and walls with a PVC scrubbing brush, including at the water line where oils and bacteria can build up. Just drop it in, press the CLEAN button and Mirra is off to work, pumping and filtering 70 gallons (265 litres) of water per minute – that’s over a gallon a second. It also reduces heated hot spots and keeps chlorinated water evenly distributed as it disburses filtered water throughout your pool, capturing debris as tiny as two microns. By comparison, the diameter of the average human hair is 70 microns. PVA wheels keep Mirra grounded on slick pool surfaces.

Mirra 530 uses enhanced robotic technology, including iAdapt Nautiq Responsive Cleaning Technology For Pools to size up the approximate dimensions of the pool, then chooses the optimum cleaning cycle for maximum efficiency. Mirra provides the most thorough cleaning by making multiple passes over the entire inside of the pool, navigating obstacles, climbing walls and stairs, changing directions when necessary and making sure not to tangle its power cord.

Mirra 530 is the easiest pool cleaning robot to use and maintain, offering single push-and-play operation with the iRobot CLEAN button. A Few Quirks, but Ultimately I'd Recommend - 5 Year Life Span

I'm an Arizona resident and have been a pool owner for over 10 years. With the extreme heat, and high use of chlorine, I've gone through a fair amount of pool equipment over the years. In general most pool gear is over-priced and not constructed well, which is why I think the iRobot Mirra 530 needs to be considered in that context.

I've now used this pool cleaner for over a month (in swim season) and arrived at the following conclusions;

Strengths:
(1) It is constructed well and seems to be made with quality materials. It looks and feels better than most plastic-y pool equipment I've had in the past. It also just looks better than some of the garish robot cleaners I've seen in the pool store.
(2) It is fairly easy to set up and get operational out of the box. For the most part the only assembly is putting the tires on the wheels.
(3) It is thorough in it's cleaning and it was picking up stuff my previous cleaners never could.
(4) Coverage is good-to-exceptional, climbing walls and steps unlike previous cleaners.
(5) It is easy to clean and no pool debris has clogged it yet (and I have a swimming golden retriever so that is saying something!).
(6) It does a great job of aerating the water and moving the chlorine around. The output points directly up so it seems to circulate from bottom to top, rather than clockwise (sideways) as the normal pump/filter does.

Weaknesses, Areas for Improvement, Observations and Recommendations:
(1) The setup instructions are limited to getting the device into the pool and turned on. I think they could have done a better job explaining operation, run-time, etc.
(2) There are foam inserts (4 total) that you need to use in order to get the robot to turn 90 degrees. You may need 1 of them or all 4. You have to kind of figure this out and experiment with it - if you don't work this out you will not get full coverage.
(3) At times I thought coverage was limited as the robot would "focus" on one section of the pool, however I realized the run-time on this is just longer than I anticipated and it will eventually move around. Also, again, play with the foam inserts.
(4) It is expensive, but if I can get 6+ years out of it I think it ends up being a good value. Replacing $400 gizmos every few years, that weren't as effective, isn't particularly useful.

In conclusion if this product holds up over time, and proves to be durable (rare with pool equipment), then this is probably a 5-star product. For the price it really needs to last. Makes rating a bit tough after only a month, but hope this review was helpful anyway.

UPDATED Jan 4 - 2018: Back in 2013 I stipulated that if I could get 6+ years out of this vacuum then it's probably a good value. Well, I got about 5 years. During that time I did replace the power transfer box, set of wheels (once), and a few bearings - all to be expected. Today the motor crashed out, and at this point fixing it doesn't seem practical. All things considered I'm modifying to 3 Stars and a soft recommendation. I think it works okay, but the price point is too high for something destined to not last all that long.

I rarely do Amazon reviews. But I have to here.

Bought the Mirra 530 in 2013. Here are all the problems I've encountered:
1) The unit's front bobs up and down, even with the floaters removed.
2) The baskets are HORRIBLY designed. The handles both broke in the first summer. It took me, easily, 10+ hours of back and forth with iRobot to get replacements. The plastic handle design is terrible - the suction of the basket combined with so many nooks and crannies in the basket to catch small particles makes it almost 100% for sure that they will break. The replacement baskets, at $100 EACH (!!!) from irobot, are made the same way. The replacement baskets' handles broke in year two. I figured out a way to use two screwdrivers to take out each basket after that, but it was a struggle each time.
3) The wheels are made from a foam that disintegrates over time. I've gone through 3 sets. You can't buy just the foam - you have to buy all four wheels in a set. $75, + shipping.
4) The brush on the bottom moves the wheels on one side. The fitting for the brush broke, so the wheels wouldn't turn anymore. Bought a new brush but the housing for it was on the unit, not the replacement. Went in circles and twisted up the cord.
5 ) Finally the fan blade broke. The only source I could find for a replacement was a 3D printing place online.

The only thing I liked is that the unit would auto-power on when the power was cut/reloaded. Not really smart, but I used it to my advantage with a smart switch to get the unit going from my deck without having to go to the pool. Bad design was my win.

When I had new wheels, new baskets, working brush and the thing didn't bob up and down, it did a not so bad job of cleaning my pool.

However, over 3 years, I paid:
$1400 - unit (with tax)
$200 + shipping - baskets
$150 + shipping - wheels
$50 - new brush
~ $1800

That's a lot of money for something that gets thrown away after its warranty expires.

I bought a Dolphin Quantum this summer and I think it's amazing. It fixed everything that was wrong with the Mirra 530.

Very big disappointment. It doesn't do what it says it's supposed ...

I have had this for 2 seasons. Very big disappointment. It doesn't do what it says it's supposed to do. The brush barely contacts the wall. It misses a lot of spots. It just stirs up dust. I ran this all day and it just leaves tracks all over the pool. It seems like the wheels pick up debris more than the the machine itself. After about a year, the brush bushings will wear out. I called tech support, they said the part isn't in their warehouse, they would have to notify the 3rd party and ask them to ship the part. I decided to fix it myself. I replaced the bushings with 3/8 in. Bi-Fold Door Steel Bottom Pivot. After I repaired this thing since customer out -of-service didnt help, It will clean at the very first pass, then it will quit picking up debris and then just drive down to the deep end and stay there, DONT BUY THIS MACHINE, GET A DOLPHIN. Mirra is now buried in my backyard. I use the cord as a jumprope.

Horrible

It's pretty good. Have a tendency to "miss" some areas of the pool and the constant unwinding of the coiled cord is very annoying. Why can't they put a swivel adapter on the thing. 3 stars is mostly the cord coiling mess. At least the wheels aren't falling off as on my Polaris P93 piece of $1000 junk.

Update 6/17/2015: After it stopped working 3 months ago I spent days and hours on email and phone trying to figure out how to get it serviced. iRobot hardly knows what this product is, but eventually they got me a phone number to "Aquatron Pool Robot Department". Left several messages since nobody answers the phone there, and after about a week they got back to me. Nope; They don't service their own equipment. Got a new contact in New Jersey, company called "Aquabot" (I'm in Oklahoma and that was the closest service location) . Pack it up and ship to NJ. They didn't want to pay for shipping but I shamed them into providing a pre-paid UPS label. This was in April 2015. Oh, yeah; they emailed and asked for proof of purchase, so I sent that to them on May 18 replying to their email with the attachment. 6/13 they call me and said the power supply was bad and they would ship it out UPS ground.

Still waiting to get it back.

Not as good as a Polaris

Update: Boight a Dolphin Nautilus Plus CC to replace this total piece of crap. It's awesome and does everything the iRobot promised to do but couldn't. You know, things like actually clean the pool...

We bought this as a replacement to our broken Polaris. Given the results we have had with their carpet products, we expected this to be an awesome product. However, after using it for a second summer now, we gave up and bought another Polaris.

This device did not clean the bottom of the pool. It would leave clean tracks where the foam wheels went, but the actual cleaning portion did little to nothing. It would pick up larger debries such as leafs, but left the finer particulates on the pool bottom.

You may have better results. But for us, we have a used pool robot for sale.

I absolutely love this iRobot. It cleans my swimming pool and the water is always clear and clean. This is the BEST product ever invented. If you have a swimming pool I highly recommend you get the iRobot. It has saved me my arms, it has saved my sanity and it has saved me a tons of money (because it works way better than the pool guy).

Then it Stopped working, it lasted two months.

I work everyday day and don't have time to fix so now just my pool guy is cleaning

I received my Mirra 530 a couple of weeks ago. I'm renting a house with a pool. Not quite swimming weather (but close, here in Phoenix), the pool guy was having troubles clearing up the water, and the mechanized pool cleaner provided by the property owner wasn't up to the task, hobbling along after several repairs. Since I've been happy with Scoobie, Shaggy, and Scrappy (my Scooba, Roomba, and Brava from iRobot), we decided we'd try the Mirra... and promptly launched Nessie into the pool.

Yes, it's plastic. You know some people can't have nice things, because they won't treat their belongings with respect. The Mirra appears to me to be sturdy enough to last through several seasons... with the appropriate care. Mind you, it's not *delicate*, but if you force it, I'm sure you can break it.

And yes, it needs a little tweaking. We had to install the third "float" inside it, so it would do the needed 90 degree turns, and we also extend the little "chutes" on the bottom, to give it better suctioning power -- not for cleaning, but for climbing. With those adjustments, we lower Nessie into the pool, give her 10-15 minutes to soak water into the wheels (for better traction on the walls), then plug her in and watch her go! When she's at the bottom of the deep end of the pool, you can see the water rustle above her on the surface -- she moves a lot of water through her! The normal pool pump with filter just doesn't seem to "move water around" enough. After running Nessie two days in a row, the pool is as clear as glass -- cleaner than I've seen the pool since we moved in last year!

The pool guy was amazed. He had the pool pump set to run 10 hours a day, and I had cut it back to 3 hours. He suggested that we run it twice a day for 2 hours each time and see how it does. Algae will build up in the pipes if left to sit in the heat of the southwest for too long... running twice a day should help keep the pool pump from being an issue.

My only real problem with the Mirra is that the two baskets are difficult to clean *completely*. They're easy to remove, easy to open the basket, easy to rinse out most of the leaves and dirt that accumulates. But if you want to "really clean" the basket, there are nooks and crannies where little bits of stuff are lodged in and hard to dislodge. My approach has been to clean it "as good as you can with a few minutes of rinsing", and let that be it.

I'll try to update this later in the season... but for now, I'm very happy with how the pool looks, thanks to the Mirra!

Unable to find parts to repair my 2 year old vaccum

Very good for my round vinyl sides (metal pool) as it really climbs to clean the sides and bottom with ease. Recommended to keep your pool clean as needed!
2nd review update: This robot is useless since I cannot find parts to replace the worn out wheels and drum that cleans the floor. Mostly the parts are out of the country as the sellers are not selling any parts into the USA. Very disappointed on my $1k investment for nothing... That Israel company should have parts available in the USA...

Almost perfect!

Our first iRobot Pool cleaning robot finally died after about six seasons. It was time for a new one. Decisions, decisions, after lots of research, I kept coming back to a company I was familiar with and liked their other robots. I'm not sorry I did. This "poolboy" is almost perfect. He filters the water as it cleans the floors, walls, and most of the steps of the pool. Cleaning the baskets, two, is easy and quick. He certainly makes pool cleaning more enjoyable and less work. Just plug in, and splash in the pool!
