Best/beautiful knife I've used so far
by Sherzod Odinaev (5 out of 5 stars)

First ever "proper" knife I've ever used. Initially got the 9.5in one (man it was massive), so I opted for this one. Best knife I've used so far. I sharpened it (stock one was a bit dull) with #1000 and #6000, the razor on this knife is awesome. Cuts thru veggies and fruits with ease, havent dared to cut harder stuff like nuts and alike. Handle is great, although I feel like it's a tad longer. But that's not an issue at all, since I "hug" the knife anyway. Layers are fine, although I still get bit of sticking with potatoes and such. But not same as with a regular knife. I'd say slight stickiness, I just put trivial effort into that - no a problem.

Knife thickness is ideal for me, but I'm looking forward for a thicker one (german brand, has twin in its name). I definitely recommend this product to anyone who cooks regularly - you will appreciate how this thing cuts, and makes its easy - and exciting. I did cut myself once tho - my fault really, used that knife instead of paring one. So be sure to use the knife as intended ;)

Mediocre Knife, not a great choice for professional settings.
by Osias (3 out of 5 stars)

I needed a larger knife for breaking down large fish and butchery at work, the Zhen is well put together, but the weight is all wrong, and the handle is oddly angled which makes it my last choice for anything that doesn't require the extra length. On the plus side it takes and holds an edge as well as good Japanese steel should, and it looks really nice. I have used a smaller version of this same knife once and it was better, the downward angle of the handle wasn't as noticeable without the extra weight throwing the balance off, but still not a knife I would want to use all day. I will continue to use this knife for the tasks that require those extra few inches, but no matter how you want to grip it, it will always be fatiguing. Also, the title is misleading, although the STEEL is Japanese, the knife is made in Taiwan

Work of art! Quality knife.
by Quattro (5 out of 5 stars)

Knife is a work of art. The Damascus layers and handle beautiful. It cuts well and is very sharp. Balance is nice in your hands and is not overly heavy. It does need special care as it can't be put in the dishwasher and needs to be maintained (clean right after and dried). That goes with any quality knife though. Overall very satisfied with th knife and it seems to be good value for the money.

Great 8" cheifs knife
by John Lindsey (5 out of 5 stars)

I got one and liked it so much I got one for my girl friend. I have over 40 knives and this one has become one of my favorites. It is a really nice 8" chiefs knife that is a little lighter than some, with a great handle. It really takes a great edge and holds it well..

Great knife comes fairly sharpened

Great knife comes fairly sharpened, but could use some manual honing. Great look and handle is not organic so won't harbor germs. Also the knife looks great, and is not as hard to take care of as others would have you believe.

Nice light utility grabber.

Decent sharp, quality blade. Little light in the hand due to a lack of tang. But, because I bought it for non-heavy use, it's perfect to grab and cut. Long chores....not so much.

A beautiful, high quality knife. Lovely packaging as well fitting for an expensive knife. Very, very pleased. I bought this as a gift and the recipient was impressed at the beauty and quality of the Damascus layers.

Awesome Blade
by MCOM Corp (5 out of 5 stars)

THIS IS JUST A FANTASTIC VG 10 blade clad in beautiful Damascus layers of outside steel. Holds its edge well. The 12inch length is good for me. I feel comfortable with it and the handle is just the right diameter for my hand. I align the edge with a ceramic rod before each use and rinse and dry it right after. I keep it in a sleeve in a knife block. Gets a lot of use.
