Too much work for the payoff
by Woman Poet (1 out of 5 stars)

I was really hoping this product would work well, but after several tries it was just too difficult and frustrating to use and clean only to create terrible pasta. To make pasta that will extrude from the machine, the dough must be wet - unfortunately too wet. The noodles stick together into a solid mass as they are being extruded. When we tried again, several times, with stiffer dough, it would not drop into the extruder, requiring us to manually push it in. The amount of flour required to achieve a consistency the machine could handle resulted in terrible, gummy tasting pasta. Save time and just order the attachments for your Kitchen Aid mixer. Though it's a little more expensive to go that route, at least you can control the consistency of the dough and make great tasting pasta every time.

This product was sold as new. It was not. It was visibly used before. I ordered for my 13 year old daughter and she inhales the smell of burnt plastic every time it is used. It works for now. If you touch it is very very hot!! I will let her enjoy a couple of more times or until it catches flames and buy a different product. I could not find anywhere to contact Viante in the papers included. I would strongly not recommend.

Like most equipment
by Mark C - Lansing, MI (5 out of 5 stars)

Like most equipment, it takes a learning curve and rethinking. It produces FANTASTIC pasta, but you HAVE to follow the directions. The dough is nothing like traditional pasta in terms of consistency. Hand made pasta is plastic and stretchy. The machine needs a crumbly "pea sized shaped" dough texture. This allows the extruded to push out pasta that doesn't stick together.

The cleanup is a little complex but only takes about 5 minutes. And yes, it is loud, but no louder than any other power tool in the kitchen i.e. blender, processor, can opener, etc.

The variety of shapes is impressive and produces better than commercial pasta and MUCH better tasting. Lots of room for creativity. Just watch the dough texture! Too wet and you have a mess on your hands.

It is pretty slow. It can take 15-30 minutes to extrude depending on batch size and consistency of dough. You need to babysit the extrusion. Especially if you are making short noodles you need to keep cutting.

Pasta disastero

Do not purchase this pasta maker it is not pasta perfecto but rather pasta disattero. Tried 6 times following instructions and only once did the pasta come out edible. The last time and final time used the plastic extruder pieces broke. Save your money and buy fresh pasta at the store.

This machine is good for making the pasta dough
by tcm Boston (3 out of 5 stars)

This machine is good for making the pasta dough, but I don't think it's worth making the pasta -- all of the attachments get clogged up and it takes forever to make a small batch.

RETURNED!!!AMAZING machine!! Used Chef Paul Liebrandt lobster ravioli recipe on MarthaStewart.com in
by A. S. White (5 out of 5 stars)
July 28, 2015

The basic pasta recipe in the brochure was more like a noodle instead of a pasta. I found Chef Paul Liebrandt on Martha Stewart.com making Lobster ravioli and the pasta came out INCREDIBLE!!! I read most of the reviews and the only issue I have had with the machine was the Basic pasta recipe which I will go back and re-do at some point in time to make sure I did not mess up the recipe.

I will say that I made the pasta the way Chef Liebrandt instructed, then put the doll balls into the machine.

Right now I am making pasta and using every single "die" to see what the shapes look like. Honestly, the taste is so far superior to store bought that I don't care if the shapes are "as good as" boxed pasta. The main reason why I purchased this machine was because of the different types of shapes you can make with this machine. I also hope that I will be able to get a cheap pasta roller (manual) and use the lasagnette pasta noodle in a ravioli mold to make ravioli. And, if you roll out the lasagnette and cut into squares you can pinch them in the middle and make Farfalle (bow tie) pasta - see "How To Make 'BowTie' Farfalle Pasta Shapes" by Pastatic!

There are tons of videos on youtube.com to instruct a person on how to make different shapes and size pastas and I am sure I am going to watch every single one of them!! I will post again in the future to keep you posted.

I noticed that it takes 20 minutes to make the actual pasta and the machine gets hot so i turn it off and let it rest 15 minutes then go back to making pasta and that seems to work just fine.

Ciao!

UPDATE: I had to return the machine because the dough was more of a nooodle than a pasta. I am buying a pasta roller so that no matter what the issue is with the dough it works (or so that is my theory)....My great idea of making Chef Liebrandt's pasta dough and putting it through the machine did not work! someimes the dough was too dry (and it took forever to get it through) or the dough was too wet and it was a mess! I don't know if it was a result of my being naive or the machine....It was a great machine and it worked reasonably well with the basic dough recipe included in the machine but I did not like that recipe in terms of taste and texture.....I am going to buy a pasta roller and we shall see what happens then...in any case, amazon is the best in terms of returns!! amazing!

Best All Time Electric Pasta Maker
by Nancy-IL (5 out of 5 stars)

I followed the recipe and thought the dough was too dry. I should have listened and not added anymore water to it. After my second try, I was amazed. The main thing is to have your dough the correct consistency. This machine is a lot quieter than some I've heard. Quite heavy duty and extrudes quite fast also than other machines. This comes with 14 different types of dyes for making great pasta. You can't go wrong with this machine. Viante did good with this machine. Thank you! Easy to clean.........just let it dry and then it wipes right off. Very little waste of pasta dough also. Very impressed. I can't say enough good about this machine.
